I made devilled eggs for New Year's Eve last year.

Any ideas for this year?

@Cerberus Buffet contribution? Stand-alone dish?

Using your deviled eggs as starting point, how about stuffed mushrooms? Can be search it or cold. Stuffing is highly versatile.

Or puff pastry pinwheels? Also quite versatile.

How much time and effort are you will to put into it? Any restrictions? Sweet or savory? Or both(-ish)?

@Stephie We will be having side-dishes only haha, with just the two of us. Thank you for thinking along!

Unfortunately, I'm 'allergic' to mushrooms.

I thought of stuffed tomatoes, but apparently those are not wanted.

@Stephie I made one once, it's an easy thing to make that looks great!

@Stephie Yeah, and I'm not supposed to make fish, alas. I may make that for myself sometime.

I think it will be stuffed eggs after all!

With a mixture of egg yolk, potato, mayonnaise, spring onion, chili powder, something like that.

I have tarte bottoms left over from Christmas, which I will use to make lemon-mascarpone tartes with raspberries, very easy to make.

We have also ordered oliebollen and Apfelküchle from the bakery.

And there will be various cheeses and baguette and Melba toast and stuff.

What will you have?

@Cerberus Fondue Chinoise - three kinds of meat, some veggies or a salad, baguette. The fonds is basically done, just straining it tomorrow, degreasing and adding salt.

Maybe there will be some kind of dessert, but not sure. Apfelküchle has been vaguely on my mind these days as well.

@Cerberus Tinkeringbell posted a HNQ a few years ago about them. Always wanted to try to make them, but it kind of never fit with the other plans so far.

@Cerberus You put potatoes in deviled eggs? Never heard of that.

@Stephie Make oliebollen? They're very simple. And not extremely interesting, I suppose, haha.

But my mother always orders stuffed tomatoes for New Year's Eve, and they are stuffed with a filling containing potato.

So I thought, why not try that with eggs this time.
