@deostroll The standard "easy" answer for getting people started with microcontrollers is to start with the Arduino. This is basically an abstraction layer on top of an 8-bit microcontroller, but the community and available support is huge
01:29
@Kellenjb that sucks

4 hours later…
05:48
Jeez... 5 more days left in the election... hasn't everyone voted already ;)
06:09
that is what I thought
It seems most would vote the first day
but it is good to make sure those that want to can
in the last 2 days only 4 have voted
how many people have voted total? (is this something only admins see?)
47
it should be everyojne
just scroll down just a bit on the page
06:41
So it is mods only - all I see is "Election closes in 5 days"
anyways... time for bed... hopefully I can stay awake for the drive
07:38
I thought that all could see that
oops
well, scratch that

1 hour later…
08:56
lol, i haven't voted yet.
... haven't logged in for a while due to workload.
and ... i am a bit tipsy, recovering from workload, so time for sleep. BYE
@Dean bah, i hit up engineering just so I could build cool shit, not get a job. Jobs are everywhere... i'm a boom truck operator now, maybe joining an embedded consulting company soon, part-time. If they give me boring crap for too long I'll go find something else and crank up the awesome hobby interests ;)

11:55
new cool feature on yur profile it now tell you how many votes you have done this week month and day(which is pointless as aren't we limited to 30 per day?)
@tyblu I understand that but you can't do the fun stuff with out the boring crap.

2 hours later…
14:15
@Dean they have made a change.
@Dean they are going to add 10 more question only votes per day, i think they already have

My question:

Q: Capacitor Sizes for 7805 Regulator

Dean It says in the datasheet these values in this picture: But I've also seen it with these values: So what values should i use or doesn't it matter? And its for when its first starting.

16:45
If nothing else, it needs to be linked. There are several good answers on the original
17:24
Hi @W5VO!
@DanielGrillo mornin
Out of curiosity, how do you see your flag weight?
17:58
@W5VO You have to have over 200 flag weight to see anything. You're at 165 right now.
Actually, it has to be "outside of the middle range", which might be as little as 150, according to this question:
138
Q: What is flag weight?

CoolBeansFlag weight can be viewed in user profiles. What is flag weight? Who can view my flag weight? When can I view my own flag weight? What are the possible values of flag weight? Why is my flag weight not an integer? What are the benefits of a high flag weight? Return to FAQ index

However, there's been some changes in that number. The maximum is now 750, not 500, so some of that stuff is out-of-date.
Also, @Grace Note posted a way to calculate an estimate of your flag weight based on the number of flags you have available and your reputation as a comment to this (outdated, I think) answer

A: Are the new moderator flag limits sufficiently high?

Marc GravellUntil a few days ago, the calculation was: default 10 per day one bonus flag per 1000 reputation maximum 100 But we have now tweaked this to consider previous flagging history: flags by people who flag well are OK so: default 10 per day one bonus flag per 2000 reputation (capped at 100k re...

@W5VO Sorry for the delay. My daughter came here and I had to play a little with her. But @reemrevnivek do it well.
@NickT, you said that Kortuk does all the modding, but this is not true. I'm an active mod too. At the beginning I collaborated just a little, but my participation was growing and nowadays Kortuk and I shared almost equally the tasks.
18:25
@DanielGrillo I guess we can forgive you for that.... :)
Hey, @DanielGrillo - Kortuk said a while back that he could reconfigure the feeds. Can you do that while you're here?
I just got a notification of the Pico PSU safety question.
That was asked 2 hours ago.
Nick posted a link to the Gaming feeds before. They have many more, and the feeds they use update much quicker than our Twitter feed.
I don't think that we need the XKCD or status-completed feeds, but the rest look like they'd be useful.
@reemrevnivek I'll take a look
I especially like the "gaming related stuff" idea. If we had a ticker feed (not posts feed) of the embedded, microcontroller, pic, arduino, and circuit tags on even just StackOverflow (maybe Programmers as well?) I think we could do a lot to encourage some visitors to check our site out, through good answers on those sites and through cross-site duplicate checks.
@reemrevnivek I'll just ask about it. Can you help me do it?
I am more than willing to contribute, but I don't think that I have the necessary privileges.

When the wordpress.stackexchange.com community asked Why are questions not being voted on …

I have noticed a trend that questions (even good ones) that have multiple answers are not being voted on.

Out of our 5,550 questions only 41% have at least 1 vote which leaves around 3,000 with 0 votes and a few hundred with negative votes.

I had a strong sense of déjà vu all over again.

One of the longest running concerns in Stack Overflow and Stack Exchange history is Why aren’t people voting for questions? a question originally posed on Stack Overflow on August 5, 2008 — long, long before we used UserVoice for this sort of thing. At that point, meta.stackoverflow wasn’t even a glint in anyone’s eye, much less Area 51 or the WordPress Stack Exchange. …

Q: What should we do with questions that are fuzzy as to if they are within our scope?

KellenjbA discussion came up in chat (the transcript begins here) that started about this question. Some think it is on-topic, some think it is off-topic, some thing it is in the gray area. I think there are good arguments for all of them. So what do you think? Is it on-topic, off-topic, questionable, ...

abhijith iyerThis update to the question has been merged, and this answer is pending deletion. No, even Embedded Access Inc (as seen in Mark's answer) does not provide IPv6 on the MCF52259demo board. It is a Coldfire processor board developed by Freescale and it uses MQX OS. The actual...

needs to be deleted. I flagged it initially, and Daniel posted a comment about three weeks ago.
Since then, nothing has happened.
Therefore, I merged the update into the question.
Now, however, I can't re-flag it. (It tells me "You have already flagged this post for moderator attention")
Where can we send rendering bugs for webpages?
However, Mark's comment,
> there quite a few changes. The biggest reason you don't see a lot of lower powered uC supporting IPv6 is that the processing and memory requirements are significantly higher than IPv4. Also such devices aren't often (and shouldn't ever be) connected directly to the internet but rather hidden in an internal subnet so the address space issue isn't overly important. You can DDoS crash a PIC running an ethernet stack with minimal effort and it can even happen accidently with some broadcasts depending on network configuration.
