@JRE It was a 20 amp breaker that tripped at 41 amps. It was 41.6 something but I'll round it to just 41.

@JRE It was loaded to 41 amps for about 1 minute or so. (if I had to be very precise I would say it was around a minute and a little more than a half so 1 minute and 45 seconds)

@JRE Now that I think about the time that passed it could've easily been 3 minutes. I was in the shop and time passes in the shop like no other. So it could've easily been 3 minutes or more now that I think about it.

What are the typical rise and fall times for 1W and 3W LEDs?

Actually, what i need is graphs with rise and fall of brightness with time. So that I can make a PWM with ~10kHz.

@ScottSeidman . . and I am the opposite. When I hear people talking about a transformer, at first I don't realize they are speaking of robots in disguise.

@Marla My way seems less risky, as I am less likely to be surprised.

When I hear "transformer" I immediately think "volts per microsecond" and wonder if it was under-spec'd and that is the reason why it overheated and failed.

huh, apparently an Uno running off USB outputs around 4.5V, which is just a smidge above the specs

not gonna be a problem in the final design as it'll run at 3.3V anyway, but annoying during testing...

@Fermiparadox those are very temperature-sensitive; it's not easy to drive them that way
