Want to buy some DC/DC buck converters to go from 12V to 5V but I can't find a reliable item. Was thinking of this guy. Reviews look suspicious, what do you folks think? amazon.com/gp/product/B01ENT1O62/…

Digikey has a pretty good selection
but be really wary about what you buy on amazon/ebay - A lot sellers take advantage of sealed electronics that are difficult to inspect

@ThePhoton . . . There are a couple of people who ask questions and I just sit back amused. Because I have seen them ask before. No matter what is suggested, they argue or say that they cannot use whatever is suggested.
It makes me think that in doing their refusal, that later on they can come up with the idea themselves and self congratulate that they are creative.

Hi guys,
I need to design a fixed voltage drop which should be controllable with a µC.
The load where I want to enable/disable the voltage drop is capacitive and the voltage is about 130V. So no programable poti for me.
Do you have an idea?
I thought about diodes, I saw some circuits with thyristors for AC control and resistive load, but I am not too sure if it fits my application.
I have to add, 2 Amps over 2µs
@Eggi . . saturable core reactor?

@Marla Or the corollary: "I knew it was impossible"
@Eggi Are you trying to drive a high side MOSFET? Because that sounds like a round-about way of describing that.

I want a PCB made with clear FR4: hobbyking.com/en_us/…

@laptop2d . .years ago, we introduced a product with black satin color PCB. In our industry, induction heating (industrial), everyone always wanted to look in the cabinet.
And I cannot find a single photo of that first unit.
Heh, does the black solder mask change when it burns?
I think we didn't use a solder mask back then, 1991. Just a white silkscreen. @W5VO
Just the same, I'm guessing it hid any burn marks relatively well
It had to be really clean because left over rosin made it look very ugly.
