@PlasmaHH Answer too many meta questions and we'll have an impromptu mod election
@Asmyldof Very impressive. I've done some wirebonding, but never anything too crazy. I've reworked gold ball bonds, but this is crazy (and I'm sure the pitch was much finer than what I did.
definitely agree that NDA's suck

Yeap

@W5VO I'm very happy with the results, especially since we only have a die bonder and some improvised tools based on "spot-welded" tweezers :-D
@PlasmaHH You say that, but don't close vote?
10:19
@Asmyldof not enough rep for close votes
10:40
and jeez the curretn questions are fun
@PlasmaHH Ahhhh I thought more of your rep came from here
Chat only shows your total
Which is >>> mine
yeah, thats one of these "features"
>9k comes from SO
Well, it's good I think
If someone enters chat with many-k rep, they get taken much more seriously, which is helpful, because even if you aren't active on the sub-site, you know some shit and how this all works
And if you're helpful in the many-k area somehwere, you don't always want to waste a lot on semantics and people trodding around you like you're a noob
I always thought it was an actual feature, because of that reason.
it probably depends on the current topic of a chat.
if jon skeet came here, people might mistake him for a super pro EE
maybe the real problem is that people are not aware of that it is cumulative
Just a nice mouseover text would be helpful I guess

yay, I love those people that think they can decide what a site is about because they want some question answered, not the people that run that site

Hi, is this a right place to ask about my doubt in synthesising a combinational block ?

@user_rak Depends on what your problem is
besides patience?

@PlasmaHH The most interesting way to describe a burst lcd I've ever read

@PlasmaHH The system I was talking about runs at 6kHz. Normal frequencies for the order of magnitude of current is 4-8kHz. This converter is interleaved, so effectively 12kHz switching. I don't have any rise/fall times, as this was more of a control system retrofit instead of a fresh (750kW) design.
Estimated switching energy was taken from the IGBT datasheet, multiplied, and used to determine total IGBT power (including conduction losses)
21:27
@W5VO ah, ok, thank you. that at least gives some reasonable upper bounds
22:11
@PlasmaHH np. This was a retrofit of a 480VAC, 750kW 3ph motor drive into an adjustable voltage power supply, so the IGBT gate drive system (and any protection circuitry) was already designed and installed.
