@PatoSáinz I believe you have a happy girl "next door" ;o)

@ThePhoton Looks like a band-aid.

@Nick: isn't that what heat sinks are always? band aids for more efficient designs? ^^

3 hours later…
15:27
@PlasmaHH but there is always a theoretical limit to efficiency that would require a heatsink past that point and then it wouldnt be a bandaid
and bandaid is totaly from the perspective of the requirements and specs for the design

Realized this year that I really should be adding a lab on single-sided biopotential amps in my instrumentation class. I'll use the AD623 for the input stage -- the inputs can magically go below the rails by about 150mV, but I'm looking for a cheap rail to rail in and out for subsequent stages. Specs really don't matter, but I'd like a DIP package. Any suggestiions?

Anything particularly wrong w/ the MCP604 I should know about?
19:40
Aah, poor common mode input range. MCP6284, then.
20:33
@ScottSeidman below the rails isn't impossible... I know there are some parts that advertise above the rail by a decent amount
all you have to do is not make it Rail-rail input, and leave off the ESD diodes

hm, wondering where to ask questions about mechanics of cd player repair...

ffs
