@uhoh it’s like saying you should never ever drive a car again, in case you are involved in a bad crash (which is still more likely than you getting zero-dayed!!)
@RoryAlsop I heard that in the future, there will be "bots" - software that automatically scan the internet and automatically infect every machine they find. Oh, wait...
@security_paranoid I haven't owned a vehicle in almost 20 years.
Anyway, I think asking if GPUs have exploitable nonvolatile memory is a reasonable thing to do. I think there is nothing paranoid about asking the question. I think the attitude there is adolescent at best, and I probably won't post there again. The bluster to wisdom ratio is way too high.
@uhoh Generally security questions on SU do get answered correctly, but yes, there is more noise there from non-infosec people, so it can be a bit harder
@uhoh well you have asked, and you’ve gotten the same answer from SU and here. And no offence intended, but maybe what’s more “adolescent” is the fact that you’ve forgotten that these SU users are just trying to help.
Don’t take the advice if you choose, but don’t have a prod at the community who’s answering your question, that you’ve asked.
