I've had thousands of conversations about login problems over the past few years, but most of the other people involved would've only had one or two. Lot easier for them to remember them.
(I once told off someone for that. Funny thing was what he was complaining about was a potential problem that a admin or server owner needed to know about)
More like (for example) I think SE devs suck because they didn't quite handle X correctly, Y years ago...
Even that's kinda like "dude, are you sure its still borked?"
@RoryAlsop Not yet..But hoping! Waiting for buy-off on the new on-topic FAQ from the other mod, then I'll update and I have a couple of question in queue myself, then time to promote to the world.
@Shog9 Don't hate to mention it. It's clarifying given the situation. I do thank you for sharing that information, I wasn't entirely sure if I was ever going to find out what he was ranting about.
That bit in red didn't used to exist, and... It's pretty critical if you do ever lose a device where you're logged in here (or log in to a public computer and forget to clear everything afterwards)
@MarkBuffalo Imagine a rod that is 0.1m long that's rotating at 300rpm centered at one end of the rod. The circumference of a 0.1m circle is ~0.6m. This means that the end of the rod traverses a 0.6m distance 300 times per second. This means the end of the rod has a velocity of roughly 190m/s, or 425mph.
basically, what he did is, use dnsrecon.py to bruteforce subdomains (and watch the records of wildcards), he uses nmap to scan the ips that looks interesting then try to find vulnerabilities in them
> Scientists continue to be stymied by what causes pine mouth, most likely because they don’t care. “Sorry that your whole mouth tastes like hell, but I have to go feed a rabbit Zoloft until it dies,” they say.
Well... The majority of parts are STi standard (so Prodrive and Subaru stock them) but then some parts (body work mostly) are only available in Japan so it costs a fortune and takes 3 months to get here
To clear things up a bit, I wasn't reacting to the bans - I was reacting to the flags. I left because it was made apparent that I am the problem although having read the transcript I don't see much difference to chat with or without me here. It's still full of "your mom" jokes, slights on each other and whatever, it just has more technical conversation. If being off topic "ruins the atmosphere" then... well...
I know that I was on the wrong side of "be nice" in the discussion with @Gilles but I didn't care at the time and I still don't. He has said plenty of hurtful and dismissive things to me in the past so I meant what I said and if any of you don't like it... well, c'est la vie I guess. In all honesty when I told @Gilles to ban me for what he perceived as highly offensive I would have happily sat it out for an hour because it would have been another method of being away from him.
Having had a quick skim through the transcript I note how everybody missed the irony of people claiming to be "saving" the atmosphere of the room by actively attacking it with flags... Anyway, I should go again before I "ruin the atmosphere"...
I've already basically made my descision, I have better things to be doing with my time than validating every single word I type to ensure it doesn't insult the 1% - and even then, there is another 1% entirely that I don't care the slightest whether I insult or not
in all honesty I think we'll get more problems of the nature of what's happened recently with the current growth in room usuage. More people == more chances for misunderstanding and really lets be honest SE could shut this down at any time as we're rarely on-topic
@Adi if those people thought it was true for even a moment, they clearly are uninformed and don't matter - the thought that I would hang around with a stalker is hilarious and... no.
