@LucasKauffman dammit you guys, if you go ahead and close it with consensus, us diamond mods cant migrate it!
09:02
@AviD Why would that be? It seems it has been vote as off-topic (belongs to XXX) How come you can't migrate?
@AviD Bad design?
@M'vy because migration is a closing action.
@AviD hm... can't you cast a binding reopen vote?
@M'vy possibly. I think the thinking is that if it should be migrated, it should be done right away, otherwise dont do it. Part of the whole "dont encourage migrations" thing....
@M'vy ick. I guess I could, and then cast a single close vote, but I dont like that...
@Adnan Ping me on my email ... admin @ mynick .com with your email and I'll send you those PSDs I have. I've just checked them tho and they're not any larger, the only advantage is the individual items are in layers so you can extract parts you need.
I don't really get the point of closing a question that's been flagged as "should be migrated". It seems so... wrong?
09:05
I'm also pissed off because I was just prepping the q for migration, then @Terry just goes and jumps in there and grabs the last vtc....
@M'vy anyway... done.
@AviD you're a mod, remember? :P
@M'vy there are two parts to that flag, though - 1. it should not be here; 2. it should be over there.
there might not be enough agreement on the 2nd even if there is on the 1st.
@AviD hum
talking about being pissed off... it seems I was trying to talk some sense into a door-to-door salesman of PHP bytecode protection religion... that's a pointless waste of time LOL
@LucasKauffman Hahahahaha! I win this time!
09:12
@AviD Would you care to give you opinion if that's indeed a marketing guy trying to take advantage of our platform for advertising? I've asked him 2 times in the comments to disclose that, and he still didn't while at the same time doesn't answer any questions and only takes that as an opportunity for marketing preaching...

A: How secure is ionCube compiled code?

NickThe answers here are good, though thoughts such as "any nosy customer wouldn't have much problems extracting the encryption key from your compiled code" stretches things somewhat because end users and even most PHP developers typically lack the knowledge required in terms of modifying the PHP eng...

@TildalWave not really....
I say
boobies
@TildalWave Done
@LucasKauffman Wait wait waaaait! How many?
> and even most PHP developers typically lack the knowledge required
@AviD :|
09:16
@Adnan hey, thats his quote, not mine ;-)
@TildalWave dropped a comment on there
@AviD Sure sure.
if he refuses, I'll edit his answer to include a disclaimer.
@TildalWave and yes, definitely their marketing guys.
@Adnan well yeah, my cognitive dissonance caused me to notice specifically that bit, but he wrote it, not me.
@AviD what did you comment on with "not really..." then? oh wait... LOL I get it
09:18
@TildalWave not really care to...
@Polynomial cheers! I've asked him 2 times already
@AviD yes... good morning :)
@Polynomial do it now.
no wait, give him a chance.
@TildalWave I figure someone out-and-out demanding him to respond is the only way to get it done.
he hasnt been online in the last few minutes...
@AviD yeah, I'll let him respond
09:20
maybe add a link to the relevant faq help section.
@Young kidz. Anybody knows a chatting application called Veper/Viper/Fiber/Fiper?
Viber. and it sucks.
oh yay! I'm young!
this is what I'm considering for the notice:
"Notice: The author of this answer seems to be affiliated with ionCube, but has refused to disclose whether or not this is the case. Please keep in mind that answers and comments submitted by ionCube employees may be subject to conflicts of interest."
@Polynomial I'd +1 that
@Polynomial no.
09:22
ofc editing one way or the other regarding "refused to", depending on his response or lack thereof
first off, its argumentative and attacking. second, not seems to be, is.
@Polynomial As a comment, of course.
@AviD do we have proof that he is?
@AviD Perfect! Thanks.
@Polynomial We do not. I do.
09:23
@Adnan I'd put it in as an edit, not a comment.
@AviD ahhhh
;-)
@Adnan you have new mail! :)
sssshhhhhh
@Polynomial Oh well, I don't know about that then.
@TildalWave Perfection!
@Adnan I just hope I didn't include some of my private stash of porn in it by mistake :)))
09:25
@TildalWave I hope you did
@AviD "Notice: The author of this answer is affiliated with ionCube. Please keep in mind that answers and comments submitted by ionCube employees, whilst with good intent, may be subject to conflicts of interest."
@Adnan :blush:
@Polynomial +1
thanks
done.

ReDKHey When i enter script in search box like:- alert(0) then it converts to :- <script> alert(0) </script> Can I bypass it if can then how? Or if any other script which not includes these keywords........????

VtC'ed as unclear
love the clip, but its actually quite clear.
vtc for multiple dupes, though...
09:31
@AviD +1 on some other answer, I hope?
hes just looking for a way to bypass xss filters. want to find a good dupe for him?
@AviD every xss question on the site ever?
;)
@TildalWave virtual +1 on his edit to signify agreement and support. duh.
@Polynomial no, there are actually some good ones here.
@AviD meh I can do better :P
09:35
@TildalWave that's what she said, in response to watching this
It's one of those days that will be filled with shitty questions
@AviD that was just a lame attempt at making @Adnan search for stego and buy us 5 minutes of peace here :P
@TildalWave lol
@TildalWave Damn you!
@LucasKauffman you mean Monday to Friday?
09:42
@Adnan sorry :(
@AviD What a piece of crap this Viber is!
It stole all my contacts and messages, aaand the voice isn't clear.
@Adnan tolja.
also, its a stupid piece of "me too" software. why on earth would I need another one of those?
Why would anyone?
@AviD Replace the "o" with "u" and you got yourself a hot Finnish girl's name.
heh, ok I'll keep that in mind.
@AviD My little sis drilled my head about it. She wants to chat with me (she's at that age).
09:46
@Adnan so tell her to use something else.
something standard.
anyone know of a pen-and-paper algorithm for digital signatures?
skype? google talk/chat/hangout? SMS?
@AviD Sometimes I wonder if you even have kids.
looking for something relatively trivial to break, but relatively easy to compute
@Polynomial OTP
Oh, wait, signatures
09:46
@Adnan haha, tell me about it.
@ManishEarth har har
@Adnan yeah, theyve been asking me for that one... I dont agree unless they give me a good reason. so far - not so much.
also whatsapp...
poor Jeph Jacques... just had his eBay and gmail accounts hacked :(
same thing with twitter, they've been asking for a while - but no reason whatsoever.
09:48
and for those of you unfamiliar with the genius that is Jeph, see here: questionablecontent.net
@Polynomial oh no! are the baddies doing anything to the webcomic?
@AviD Oh yeah! "whatsapp is sooo last year" for her.
@AviD well we did get malware warnings this morning, but I think (from the looks of it) another site on the same shared hosting box got popped
so it's probably unrelated
@Polynomial Wait what? He didn't mention that on the comic
@Polynomial and those still unfamilar... his mother is a famous porn star (or something like that...)
09:49
@ManishEarth see his twitter today.
I recommended 2FA and KeePass (or alternatives)
ah, gotit
@AviD isn't that just in the comic? ;)
@Polynomial Hmmm.. I'd like to hear more about that.
@Polynomial oh yeah, thats what I meant - "his" referring to marten, not Jeph.
09:51
Oh, btw, assuming you're on HTTPS and using https-only cookies, is there any additional security to relying on Google OpenID or OAuth over using your own, PHP-session-cookie based login?
btw, what's on you lot's webcomic lists?

http://www.dilbert.com/
http://chainsawsuit.com/
http://satwcomic.com/
@Polynomial oh we've been through that before... search the transcript ;-)
@Polynomial a copy-paste of my bookmarks folder
well I dont have my feeds on this machine yet :-(
09:53
@Polynomial xkcd, QC, SMBC, Abstruse Goose, The Oatmeal, Doghouse Diaries, Mad Science, C-Section comics, Junior Scientist Power Hour. Comics: Dilbert, Pearls before Swine, Non Sequitur
@AviD Feeds are for pussies who don't want to waste time checking their bookmarks manually.
xkcd, Penny Arcade, QC, Girls With Slingshots, For Lack of a Better Comic, Explosm, Chainsawsuit, Real Life Comics, Poorly Drawn Lines, VG Cats, Ctrl+Alt+Del, Nedroid Picture Gallery, Oatmeal
I think that's all of mine...
I'm not on my home box so I don't have my full list
@Adnan I'd love to read Oglaf (it makes me laugh a fair bit) but there's nooooooo way I'd get away with that :P
oh, Scenes From A Multiverse
definitely recommend that one btw
@Polynomial It's alright, brother. We've all been there.
@Adnan Initially my feeds just used to be comics. At the time I didn't like using Reader or iGoogle to read everything, so I wrote a python script that kept a folder updated with the recent comics :)
I can never work out whether I enjoy Dilbert.
it's amusing, but... I dunno. I guess I haven't worked in enough corporates.
09:57
@Polynomial Some hear. I just read it for historical reasons.
@ManishEarth Here we go! The nerds and their scripting skills.
btw, before y'all go "wtf" at me reading Ctrl+Alt+Del, it got a shitload better after he killed everyone off and started over.
I don't even know what's that.
and I am disappoint by your lack of Penny Arcade.
@Adnan CAD got slated as a really bad comic for a while, and I'm inclined to agree. Started as a comic about an idiot and his friends, who were all into video games. Got more and more "sitcom", main character (the idiot) hooked up with a hot gamer girl, became rather cliche, and ended up having a story arc where she got pregnant and had a miscarriage (because, y'know, that kinda thing fits perfectly in a gamer comic)
plus somehow the main character (Ethan) built a sentient robot out of his Xbox (despite being an idiot) and... you get the idea.
10:01
also for anyone who likes DnD giantitp.com is a must
ooh and although it's finished now freakangels.com is a great read
eventually Tim Buckley got fed up with the comic, because he'd essentially pigeon-holed his characters and was having to resort to more and more outlandish stories to keep it interesting, so he ended it with some crazy time travel thing.
and now started over with The Players (4 random game players that kill each other repeatedly) which is way more funny
BTW warning if you like web comics, very large amounts of time can vanish hitting the back catalogues of girl genius and gunnerkrigg
@RoryMcCune I keep meaning to read Girl Genius
@Polynomial is good :) the art is great and the story is good, although a bit over convoluted at times
oh I missed another one off the list: The Trenches (comic about game QA people)

Q: SIGINT CTF 2013 starts Friday 5 July 16:00 GMT

GillesLet's participate in the SIGINT CTF 2013 as team Sec.SE. During this years SIGINT in Cologne the CCCAC will hold it's second CTF. The competition is open to everyone and can be played online. Challenges will be online from July 5, 18:00 CEST until July 7, 18:00 CEST (48h). As always...

@Adnan I actually have really way too many.

2 hours later…
@RoryMcCune I don't know, they seem to be a bit not my type.

1 hour later…

Does anyone know a good method/utility of testing the health of my HDD?
I'm noticing some considerable freeze occasionally when writing to disk and I'm worrying that my HDD is failing.
Have you checked SMART?
@TerryChia OS?
Not that SMART is the best of tools. My rule of thumb is that a passing SMART doesn't mean anything, but failing SMART means your drive is fucked.
You can download the Universal Boot Disk. It has gobs of tools on it, and has many vendor specific test tools as wel.
@ScottPack Nope. Is that a builtin utility or any recommended software for Windows?
@Adnan W7
I've always found that the best tool for this job is SeaTools
13:03
@ScottPack That's a liveCD right? I guess I'll run a more complete check this weekend.
You can either download the Windows or the bootable .iso
@Adnan Thanks, will check it out.
I really hope it's my OS that's fucked and a reformat plus clean install will fix it.
A HDD failure is gonna be a pain in the ass.
13:25
@TerryChia Yeah, sorry, it's a livecd.
13:36
Hmm, drive passed SMART. I guess I'll do a clean install and see how it's like.
Passing smart is meaningless.
The only time SMART is meaningful is when you fail.
@ScottPack Well, it passed a small bunch of test on the SeaTools utility as well.
I think my current internship at RedHat is pretty awesome. I'll be doing programming (sobs...) but they are sending me for several of their certifications for free.
@TerryChia hey you can say "I programmed that piece of red hat"
@TerryChia WTF?! That's an amazing piece of news!
@TerryChia and free certs == bonus
@TerryChia also if you can, fetch me a Red Hat hat :P
13:49
@TerryChia That's really stinking awesome.
@LucasKauffman You're thinking of Fedora.
Thanks guys. :)
@TerryChia Are you doing that stuff locally or they drop shipping you to the US?
@TerryChia Have you checked what mode is your disk running in? It could as well be your controller failing or some drivers problems, if it's running in PIO mode (which would cause a lot of stuttering)
@ScottPack Locally. They have an APAC office here in SG. But I'll just be writing a competition platform for one of their competitions. Nothing that interesting. :P
13:52
@ton.yeung you've changed your gravatar.. nice :) that's your name written in it?
@TildalWave Any idea how to check that on Windows?
@ton.yeung What's ro?
@ton.yeung Ahh nope.
@TerryChia in device manager... but depends on your controller really, if it's standard SATA controller, then you could check under its channels IIRC (I'm on RAID so I can't see that... I could check on some older machine tho, if you'll have problems finding it)
@TildalWave hmm. don't see any options indicating the mode...
Nvm, I'll troubleshoot it more this weekends when I have the time.
@Terry From my experience, passing the SeaTools checks most of the times means that the disk is generally okay. So I think you don't need to dig more in that area. Like you said, it has something to do with your current installation.
14:15
Hello Adnan
@Polymorphin Hello
glad to see you
@LucasKauffman So, I got Krieg. Definitely fun to play, and not OP.
@Polymorphin I'm glad to see myself as well.
@Polymorphin Do you know me from somewhere else?
@Iszi nice :P
14:20
Here's that **** again!
@LucasKauffman The thing is, once you go into his Action Skill mode you're locked into melee-only combat.
Hello.... @TheNSA
Juuhuuu @Polymorphin
Also, it feels like it significantly dulls your awareness of taking damage.
It's handy though for when you've only got a couple enemies left in the fight and you want to top off your health quickly before moving on.
hello all, my post just recieved two down votes: security.stackexchange.com/questions/38255/…
I am looking to understand why
@mbrownnyc And three close votes.
14:23
@mbrownnyc it's been close-voted as too broad
okay, how is it too broad? what is the definition of too broad so I can avoid this situation in the future?
+1 - There's way too much being asked in one question there, and/or too many questions that are very situational.
I'd imagine it was flagged because you asked a lot of different questions, many of which are highly dependent on your particular setup, some of which are borderline non-security.
@Iszi that works as a definition
specifically...
> too broad - if your question could be answered by an entire book, or has many of valid answers, it's probably too broad for our format
>
> There are either too many possible answers, or good answers would be too long for this format. Please add details to narrow down the answer set or to isolate an issue that can be answered in a few paragraphs.
14:25
@Polynomial Yeah, markdown breaks with multi-line chat posts.
@Iszi I noticed :(
okay thanks guys
I'll see if I can even come close to doing that
in other news, I just implemented 32-bit RSA in some code! :D
super secure, don't you know ;)
but I'm guessing I can't and have to resign to this not being an appropriate medium for this question :)
@Polynomial On a totally different subject. Have you changed your name to Dave?
14:26
@Iszi ah that's harder
@Adnan hahaha
@Adnan it's for a toy app.
@Adnan I was the guy who downvoted you 1time in the past
@Adnan think "crackme".
cuz i felt a little bit robbed by you
@Polymorphin ... you downvoted someone out of spite?
14:27
@Polynomial Oh! Sounds pretty sweet.
@LucasKauffman He's still pretty strong in that mode, though. At around level 6, I was taking down some Badasses in three or four swings.
@Polynomial Yeah, we talked about it.
that's kinda... not how we do things around here.
lol
@Adnan I'll link you when it's done. Should be pretty difficult.
@Polymorphin Yeah now I remember. But it's alright now. I'm happy that you understood my side and how the site operates :)
Yeah no problem ur welcome.
i just felt a little bit trolled
14:29
@Polymorphin Yeah, everybody knows me here. I'm the biggest troll :D
@LucasKauffman I'm really looking forward to maxing out the Bloodlust tree.
> Killing an enemy causes them to explode with an Elemental Nova matching the element of the damage that killed it.
I also learned how to do modular exponentiation efficiently, without needing bigint libraries (assuming all intermediate states are small enough to fit into 64-bit ints)
(Damn it! I hate when I use smileys to make newcomers feel welcome here)
yay for exponentiation by squares
also I wrote the world's most ugly hash algorithm.
one day I shall reveal the source code and you shall weep.
what kind of word is polynominal
14:31
@Polymorphin Google it
my nick is a poison :o
@Polymorphin And spell it right ;)
ahh graphs
@Polymorphin err... are you sure about that?
not rly
14:33
I'm pretty sure there's no such chemical or biological substance as "polymorphin"
a quick Google seems to agree.
its a poison in a game
ah.
in which case, carry on.
/me wanders off to go compute things
oh no, I haven't gone anywhere.
I'm just doing other things
you'll quickly learn that I never leave.
@Poly
14:36
ok :D
@lynks @Lynks
@Polynomial that could be any polymorphic entity
Some1 knows a picture lib for delphi which is not gdpicture or leadtools?
im going to enjoy ambiguous @Poly ing
@Polymorphin You're in the wrong room for that kinda talk. And no, I don't (ex delphi dev).
14:37
@Polymorphin what's wrong with gdpicture?
@lynks See the first entry in "Other uses" on the wiki page for Poly.
@lynks and then re-evaluate your statement ;)
@LucasKauffman Ylop!
14:38
@Polymorphin gdlib is not .net... at least last I checked it was pure C library
@LucasKauffman I want to say "forkandles"
@TildalWave Ah ok. But im searching for an alternative to it.
@Polymorphin lemme see
@Polymorphin actually, if you could describe what you're after or why don't the two you mentioned cut it?
0
Q: Are there any major alternatives to GDPicture and LeadTools?

PolymorphinI'm searching for an alternative to GDPicture / LeadTools image library for delphi. I am looking for the following in the library: no runtime licenses tif / jpg can be processed / converted OCX / OCR support PDF / A PDF format Are there any major alternatives to them?

@Polymorphin shouldn't that be on Stack Overflow rather?
14:43

Q: Why aren't sophisticated Malware written with .NET

BoeckmI've been trying to research malware techniques lately, as malware analysis intrigues me. I've got a pretty heavy background in .NET, and based on my 7+ years in .NET, I feel that I could write a pretty complex piece of malware rather quickly if I was so inclined. Everything that I've seen sugg...

i thought programmers is the correct page
Also, what version of Delphi? There's major changes from 7 upwards
xe³-€4
xe³-xe4*
@Polymorphin well nobody complained so that's good :) but most of Delphi programmers are on Stack Overflow and you might get more answers there
@LucasKauffman Hehe. Looks like the same set that the Blackberry thing was done on.
@Polymorphin You need them compatible with OSX also?
@TildalWave i got sometimes bad experience with unique questions about delphi @stackoverflow
so i thought its better to post qprogrammers
only windows
@Polymorphin it'll get closed on programmers, I expect.
can someone do a move request or something?
@LucasKauffman added an answer, since it's not inherently a bad question to ask, even though it was pretty poor
@Polymorphin you should be able to flag it, though I'm sure the guys at Programmers will VtC migrate to SO.
14:49
okay
@Polymorphin well I mostly use DirectDraw libraries for Win only since they're hardware accelerated and a lot faster than anything else... but I don't know of any OCR solution that would work on top of that. My uses clause for such projects includes: pngimage, JPeg, GDIPOBJ, GDIPAPI, ExtCtrls, Graphics, PngFunctions, GifImage
they work OK with each other,... for OCR, have you tried Envision's Image Library?
not yet
thx 4 ur answer
problem is, it's not free
14:51
money is not the problem
@Polymorphin could you please type in full words, and keep the txtspk to a minimum?
we generally avoid that kind of short-typing in here
@Tery Terry Terry .. feeling sleepy aren't we? security.stackexchange.com/review/suggested-edits/10871
oh, ok.
Oh, I stand corrected. The sets are both similarly simple but very different.
@Polynomial not according to your Bieber song generator we don't :P
14:54
@Adnan I've got some small rust spots on my rifle's barrel :(
@TildalWave Bieber is an exception.
@LucasKauffman I'd go see a doctor then.
2
@Polynomial a rather unfortunate one :)
@Polynomial Holy shit! I spilled some water on my keyboard! hehehehehehe
Russell Howard goes back in time to prevent catastrophe!
14:56
@LucasKauffman Was it GAMO?
@Polynomial hehe yes I've seen that one... that's a clear case FOR contraception! :))
@Adnan yea
any recommendations?
@LucasKauffman Is it on the inside or outside?
@Adnan outside
@LucasKauffman That's herpes.
14:59
@LucasKauffman Get some good protective & cleaning oil, scrub with a piece of cloth to get the surface rust off.
@LucasKauffman Then use a fine sandpaper to get the rest off.
