@Zanna Hi! There are two things. Let's discuss first for the standard script for Sanskrit on which my views with Nogshine differes.
You may be aware that the Vedas are the primary text of Hinduism. You can say the concept, philosophy, practice etc. i.e Hinduism is based on Vedas. Now the language in which Vedas are chanted from beginning and later on written down is Sanskrit.
All other text e.g. Smriti, Purana, Agama, Darshana are written in Sanskrit.
Presently Devnagari is the script used for Sanskrit, Hindi, Pali, Awadhi, Bhojpuri, Braj Bhasha, Chhattisgarh, Haryanvi, Magahi, Nagpuri, Rajasthani, Bhili, Dogri, Marathi, Nepali, Maithili, Kashmiri, Konkani, Sindhi, Newar, Bodo, Mundari and Gujarati, many more with some variations.
We can say In North, west and middle part of india Devanagari and Hindi is dominant. In South India, there are 4 primary languages Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada which have their own script.
I heard that some people observing cultural difference between north and south part, talk about Arya and Dravida which sometimes debatable and offensive. I am not interested in such a discrimination :)
Though Devanagari is used for Sanskrit todays, it's found upon research that Brahmi script is the ancient one which was used for Sanskrit before Devanavari. Writing in Brahmi script are found on stone in hisotical place at present days also. And Brahmi is one out of which many scripts like Devanagari are derived or evolved.
But today we don't have scriptures Vedas and others in Brahmi script. The oldest serving scripture Vedas are in Devanagari script.
Devanagari has been used for writing Sanskrit for long time (since 1st century). And hence it's the standard script that is used to write Sanskrit and text Vedas, Smritis, Puranas, Agamas, Darshanas etc. for long time.
That's why many transliteration schemes e.g. IAST, ITRANS are introduced for transliterating latters of Devanagari into English like letters and ISO standard See :
There are several methods of transliteration from Devanāgarī to the Roman script (a process known as romanization) which share similarities, although no single system of transliteration has emerged as the standard. This process has been termed Romanagari, a portmanteau of the words Roman and Devanagari. (Devanagari is the name of the script in which Hindi is written). The term may also be used for other languages that use Devanagari as the standard writing script, such as Marathi, Nepali or Sanskrit. == IAST == The International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration (IAST) is a subset of the ISO...
You can easily find tools for transliterating Devanagari to IAST et. all and vice versa.
Btw, I am not aware of tools that can transliterate Brahmi to IAST. /cc @NogShine do you know about any such tool? Then share it would be useful :)
I am also not sure whether Vedic accent and some special signs that we find in Devanagari writing of Vedic Sanskrit can be correctly transliterated or not.

2:48 AM
Now, @Zanna coming to the point, I believe Devanagari is so related with Sanskrit that we can refer Sanskrit by Devanagari or It's the (standard) script for Sanskrit. Whereas Nogshine argued that Devanagari is not the only script for writing Sanskrit, we can use Telugu, Tamil or other also. And my reply was Tamil, Telugu script should be used for respective language (Tamil and Telugu).
[Though I found that Tamil language is believed to be scared and Telugu has highly influenced by Sanskrit and further things about tremendous cultural and religious history, works in Telugu, Tamil which I am not aware much, Nogshine or TheDestroyer can tell.]

Q: Is there any scriptural reference that women should take bath before preparing the food?

LakhiIn many families, they ask women to take bath before preparing food. Is there any scriptural reference that women should take bath before preparing the food?

@Zanna talking about providing transliteration, I agree that not all readers can read Devanagari & we should provide transliteration. Other thing want to discuss is: who don't know Sanskrit may not be interested in reading/chanting Sanskrit, rather they would be interested in meaning (translation). And for those who knows & learning Sanskrit may find providing original Sanskrit with translation (meaning) useful.That's why I mostly write Sanskrit & it's meaning (translation, not transliteration).
Though if the question deals with understanding meaning or interpretation of text, analyzing text or about chanting verse, then we must provide transliteration.
In brief, I am not disagree with providing transliteration anytime but ignoring Devanagari (which is the standard script for Sanskrit) everytime looks not proper to me. @Zanna
The last thing regarding learning Sanskrit you said, Yes, I think one should learn Devanagari. I found that even the Jagadguru (Acharyas) of South India, Ramanujacharya, Shankaracharya has written their Sanskrit works (treatise, commentary etc.) in Devanagari script even though Tamil, Telugu was their mother tongue.
-----×-----------×---------
@Zanna That's all about your and others possible query. Hope you got it.

3:28 AM
Thank you very much @Pandya for taking so much time to explain to me in detail :) What you said was very informative and helpful

3:55 AM
Hi @adilahmed Welcome to Hinduism SE :-) Please feel free to ask any queries or question on Hinduism.

4:19 AM
@Pandya Why do I need to learn Devanagari numbers? unnecessary.

@NogShine man hi

@AkshayS Hello. Good morning.

@TheLittleNaruto welcome to hindiuism. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Some will help. Any abuses ping @NogShine 😋
@NogShine editing?

@Pandya "Presently Devanagari is the script used for Sanskrit....." are we looking at majority here? Are you very sure that the Devanagari is the same we have now? It developed very much through the ages. It is evident when we look at different manuscripts.
@AkshayS :-)

@NogShine that didn't make much sense. Use help command to learn more,😂

4:23 AM
@Pandya Not only Brahmi, there are several other scripts like Siddham etc.,
@Pandya Did you look at all the messages I ping you before? I have shown you manuscripts written in some script which looks like Dravidian script and not Devanagari at all. People in the 1st century used Brahmi only. There are inscriptions.
@Pandya Same with Telugu and etc., So?
@Pandya It is not useful to share now because we are not here to learn Brahmi, Sanskrit, Devanagari or any other language or script. I hope we are Hinduism Stack Exchange and not Linguistics :)
@Pandya Again, telugu does it very accurately. So, I prefer Telugu to Devanagari.
@Zanna Yes. You have understood correctly. Not only Roman, I am okay with any transliteration which is not limited to a section of people.
@Pandya Speaking of inaccuracy, I can literally find half baked transliterations on the site with only A and I transliterated and nothing else converted. So, I don't have any problem if Tamil is also used. Tamil has its own rich script. Actually, people who are very proficient in Devanagari and Sanskrit will find it hard to pronounce zh sound. XD
@Pandya One time you say Devanagari is a script to write Sanskrit and on the other hand, you are again equating Sanskrit with Devanagari. Don't equate script with a language.
@Pandya Again the same.
@Pandya Where did you get this info? Check the manuscripts I shared. This looks like forcing to me. They spoke in Sanskrit and debated in Sanskrit. So, one day you will say that we should not ignore Sanskrit and mother tongue in our answers? Should we write answers in those language? O.o
I think we already have We are not Indians. I don't think another with We are not North/South?West?East Indians. Do we? cc @Pandya
Dec 3 at 4:44, by Nog Shine
Also look at this website http://www.cis.rit.edu/people/faculty/easton/manuscripts-short.html which preserves ancient manuscripts. Images may be subjected to copyrights. Scroll to Sarvamoola Granthas and check the script of Talavakara. Does that look Devanagari?
@AkshayS Kicks you out of the room
@Pandya Because people who know Devanagari wrote it. That is all.
Don't let a language or a majority of a people dominate the site. It is for all.

5:01 AM
No matter what one put their point, You only disagree. Lol

@Pandya One of the main reasons why there is differences is one group says "My language is greater, accurate and divine. It is Standard. Yours is not. Yur race came from somewhere else." They force their language and script on the other side. This is the main cause. That is why there are protests not to force Devanagari, Hindi etc., through out the country.

Where did you learn all this ?
I am wondering!!

@TheLittleNaruto If someone says 2+1 = 5, I have to disagree. No choice.

@NogShine if someone say 2+3 = 5 then also you would disagree
Pandya tried his best to put a diplomatic discussion
But you Sir.. you are never stopping

@TheLittleNaruto వై షుడ్ ఐ అగ్రీ విచ్ ఐ డు నాట్ అగ్రీ ?

5:03 AM
:D

@TheLittleNaruto This is is still diplomatic.
@TheLittleNaruto When I was away, there were a lot of messages. I think you could see that also.

I read them
I don't see anything wrong

Let Pandya read it when he comes. That's all.
@TheLittleNaruto See anything wrong with?

@NogShine Nobody is saying my language is greater.

@TheLittleNaruto Hahaha.

5:07 AM
He just said most of the languages in India use Devanagari as script
@NogShine ?

@TheLittleNaruto Why are you relating this to Pandya? I didn't mean that. He said there are Aryan - Dravidian differences. I was giving the reasons. You are looking at things in a different way. (If you think that situation is also here, then I don't object you to think like that)

@NogShine haha everyone will find it difficult if it's transliterated as "zh" which is usually pronounced nothing whatsoever like ழ்

@TheLittleNaruto Don't you know people in South protested Hindi when centre started o introduce Hindi into Tamil Nadu and other states?

@NogShine I know that.

@TheLittleNaruto Then why do you say Nobody is saying their language is Standard and great?

5:11 AM
TBH I like that we have so many languages.

8 mins ago, by Nog Shine
@TheLittleNaruto వై షుడ్ ఐ అగ్రీ విచ్ ఐ డు నాట్ అగ్రీ ?

@NogShine that's old time dude.

btw, have you understood this? You have many transliteration tools to understand Telugu. ^ Try it and then reply to me. :)

@NogShine the Google translator says "Why Should I Agree Witch Do not Know?"

@TheLittleNaruto Well, I know fanatics who still say Aryan, Dravidian and force Devanagari and Hindi on others.

5:14 AM
@NogShine then you might be around some narrow mind people
I would simply avoid them

@TheLittleNaruto All the best in translating every time I write like this. You should not complain whenever I write in Telugu. Because it is my mother Tongue. I am planning to write it frequently. Is it ok?

@NogShine as long as you put the meaning in English, should be fine

@TheLittleNaruto Yes, I am. Not around me. But i know some people.
@TheLittleNaruto No. Just the words. You have to transliterate it.

@NogShine ignore them. Why would you worry so much about them when they don't understand the richness of diversity of this country. :-)
One who lived in almost whole part of this country like me can only understand this.

@TheLittleNaruto I found them in some forums and whatsapp groups. I am sure there are some people on our site too who think Devanagari and Hindi should be ok and should be allowed. That makes me sick.

5:18 AM
Time to take shower. I am already running late today D:

@TheLittleNaruto Doesn't make difference to me because majority of population should not decide the language of the site. Everyone should understand what is written.

6:15 AM
My hair needs some @gel
;P
Which @gel is better? Does anyone know?

@NogShine Use "Set Wet"

Is that @gel good? ;)

@NogShine TBH I have only used it once. It was good though.

@gel is not getting it -_-
I am using @gel to ping you and not asking a recommendation.

@NogShine That I know lol
I guess my username is too big still
@Pandya I don't understand Devanagari 😶. It'll be a problem for a majority of the users.

6:29 AM
^ @Pandya this guy is Surya kanta bose Choudhary btw

@TheLittleNaruto Yeah and Albus Dumbledore has a crush on me :P

lol

Anybody reads Manga here?

I prefer episodes
Because of op songs
And ending songs
And you don't have to adjust your eyes on so many frames together...

What anime do you watch? @TheLittleNaruto

2 hours later…
8:44 AM
Were you moderating chat a while ago @AkshayS ?
As expected... :D

9:04 AM
@Pandya Not just that, even Telugu poets like Nannayya borrowed some alphabets from Sanskrit to telugu when he was translating Mahabharata into Telugu.
Lol. @GellertGrindelwald i thought you were someone else

@TheDestroyer Haha

@TheDestroyer his stay in Hogwarts influenced a lot.

@NogShine One Native script should be used because prajña might not be very clear and close to प्रज्ञ . ज्ञ is alone enough to say why one native Script is must to understand. And that script can be Devangari. Devangari can read by even South Indians. I know many South Indians who can't themselves speak one sentence fluently in Hindi but can read and write many sentences.
And indeed, Sanskrit lipi devangari is adopted for Hindustani Language's child "Hindi" while Arabic script with slight modifications were adopted for Urdu.
Devangari is used widely and understood in India. Why not use Devanagari and also use some transliteration scheme instead of forcing only transliteration schemes on all users?
Go to Islam SE, they use Arabic Script, go to Judaism SE they use Hebrew script.

@TheDestroyer At the same time. I know many Indians (north and south) on this site who can't read Devanagari or understand it. Whose opinion should be considered now?
@TheDestroyer Haha. You are asking the same question I asked. We are not Indian site. That's my answer.

@NogShine Use both. This can be plausible solution. Devangari and additional transliteration scheme.
@NogShine I'm saying for Indian users who visit the site. Most of the traffic to Hinduism SE is from India,

9:18 AM
@TheDestroyer Because Islam is written in Arabic and Judaism scriptures are written in Hebrew. Hinduism.. oral tradition.
@TheDestroyer There have been meta discussions to transliterate properly for better understanding. I'm unable to understand why endorcing Devanagari which is limited to some. O-o

My point is not about greatness of some xyz script. My point is one native script should be used for proper pronunciation. ज्ञ can be pronounced as it is when seen in Native script, not when we see jña for native hindu users who visit this site. Add some transliteration scheme for those who can't read Devangari
@NogShine No need to see any data. Devanagari is most understood script is India.
So, let's use that for Indian users who visit the site.

@TheDestroyer From different regions of India. That should also be put in mind. If majority is to be considered, there will be many complications.
@TheDestroyer Assertion again...
Most, Best - objective
@TheDestroyer One script is enough for me. Devanagari is not standard script or anything.

@NogShine What assertion?? What's population of Central India? UP itself has 20 crores. And should i need to say anything about Telangana?

@TheDestroyer So, population matters here over understandability?
Reminds me of @GellertGrindelwald 's meta :P

@NogShine You use that transliteration. but don't force users only to use transliteration. Why should a native user should learn transliteration scheme? Also, transliteration is hard to understand correct pronunciation and only script can replace it.

9:25 AM
@TheDestroyer Telangana, AP and others are not given importance here?

@NogShine Most of traffic for site is from India. Most of them are comfortable with Devangari.

Q: Please provide transliterations for non-English text in your posts

senshinSince this is an English-language site, we should try to avoid assuming that people can read languages other than English. As such, if you are including text from another language (Sanskrit, etc.) in your post, it is nice to provide a transliteration. So, rather than posting this (from here): ...

@NogShine This doesn't mean we should remove Devanagari

Are you overruling this ?
@TheDestroyer Someoone said I'm forcing transliteration and he is the only mod currently in the room.
@TheDestroyer it neither says we should add Devanagari.

@NogShine So, what's problem with using Devanagari and some sheme?
Transliteration is there for those who don't understand devanagari.
@NogShine Didn't you?

9:29 AM
Simple point it seems you are missing : Someone will be clueless on what's written in the answer and should go to external scheme. My question is why only that someone and not one who is efficient in Devanagari?
@TheDestroyer in my dreams, yes
not here

@NogShine Under answer of Pandya and comments are deleted now

Senshin was also forcing if that's the case.
@TheDestroyer Because some don't understand.
When you say answers should be in English, are you forcing English?
As the most traffic is from India, should we allow some major language ?

@NogShine yes. If we use only transliteration some users also will go to external site to read in Devangari. Are you sure everyone is knowledgeable in all transliteration schemes?

I can write Hindi. No problem with me.

@NogShine Hehe. Irrelevant logic.
@NogShine then don't say.
2 mins ago, by Nog Shine
@TheDestroyer in my dreams, yes

9:32 AM
@TheDestroyer Then we should add around 10+ scripts..
@TheDestroyer it's irrelevant?. It's totally relevant
Why do we allow only English here and not anything else?

@NogShine Then also we should add all transliteration scheme with schema
@NogShine Go and aks on Meta SE

@TheDestroyer You don't know?

@NogShine It's your doubt and you should find answer yourself. That's the best way

@TheDestroyer let me say then. It is for the understanding of all the users irrespective of country. Many can't understand Non English language.

Q: What are the allowed languages for questions, comments or answers here?

Viswalinga Surya SSince Hinduism is spread all over the world, different people following different languages have their own ideas, doubts and opinions. And in Hinduism various concepts are explained and brought to the common man via Slokas, poems, and verses of various languages such as Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu an...

I thought you read faq..

@NogShine English is 3rd most spoken language if i remember correctly in world.

9:37 AM
@TheDestroyer They still didn't go by majority and didn't include Chines like you are saying Devanagari. That's a relief for me. :)

@NogShine Site is English language site and that is SE's model and irrelevant.

@NogShine Same case in different perspective. Not all are proficient in Transliteration schemes and we can't make visitors from India to go to external site for converting to Devanagari

52 % from whole India. Including South, North and all.
What about rest of 48% ?

Jesus, you guys still arguing

9:41 AM
Solution is simple: Devanagari and other Transliteration scheme.

@TheDestroyer Why bias towards people who can't read then?

@NogShine Yes. Why bias towards who can't understand many transliteration schemes?

@NogShine @GellertGrindelwald didn't attend Hogwarts

@NogShine Transliteration is there for them. Where is bias?
And Devangari is there for others.
So, no bias when both are added,

@TheDestroyer So, just go by current policy - Add transliteration for everyone without adding Devanagari or anything.

9:43 AM
@NogShine Where is that policy?
Devangari is added in many answers and no one complained.

@TheDestroyer That is same as people who can't understand English.
@TheDestroyer A meta post I added. Did you see that?
Why are we having Meta posts then? For having a relief from all rep and badges?

@NogShine It doesn't say not to add Devanagari

@TheDestroyer That is why. They still go to external website for understanding.

@NogShine jña is not same jna

@TheDestroyer జ్ఞ

9:46 AM
@NogShine Problem is solved if we add transliteration.

Go by Telugu?

@NogShine my reply is for
2 mins ago, by Nog Shine
@TheDestroyer That is same as people who can't understand English.

@TheDestroyer Why should not they add Telugu o anything?

@NogShine Because Telugu script can't be understood by many Indians.
Same with Grantha script
majority of Indians are familiar with Devanagari

@TheDestroyer Similarly no one complained when there's no complain when there is no transliteration. Not adding transliteration is ok?
@TheDestroyer No.
@TheDestroyer They have transliteration.

9:48 AM
@TheDestroyer Actually I'm not familiar at all with Devanagari

A user said that I should skip verses when I don't understand. If the verses are to be understood only by some, what is the point of adding them?

@NogShine I don't understand what's your problem with Devanagari? Why you bring languages into it? Why not adopting Devanagari with some xyz transliteration scheme?

Can I say the same byadding Telugu?

@NogShine Is Telugu understood by majority of Indians?
And which transliteration scheme is better?

2 mins ago, by Gellert Grindelwald
@TheDestroyer Actually I'm not familiar at all with Devanagari

9:50 AM
we have many shemes
@NogShine ok. Transliteration can be used.

@TheDestroyer That we should do it on meta and not the ideas of a moderator or me.
@TheDestroyer I will say the same with Telugu then?

Can you tell me in which script Ramanuja wrote commentary in Sanskrit?
Grantha script or Devangari?

@TheDestroyer Can you tell me which language Raamanuja conversed in debates?
Sanskrit or English?

@TheDestroyer Devanagari I think

@GellertGrindelwald Devanagari can be used for Sanskrit as those who really wants to know Hinduism doesn't really care about lipis or language. They just need content. And more importantly, Devanagari is widely understood native script.
If one is not happy with Devanagari, they can read in any of translieration scheme.

9:54 AM
@GellertGrindelwald Devanasgari is understood by many. No one cares if you understood or not.

@NogShine Point is here, writing and reading and not speaking. This is irrelevant.

@TheDestroyer Same logic..

@NogShine then why the point of adding transliteration? Transliteration is there for you to understand.

Let's just vote on this man. Let's see how many users are comfortable with Devanagari

Ramanujacharya knows it, they wrote. I don't understand, should I still learnt it and write in it to understand an answer?
@GellertGrindelwald lol

SE is not for pols.

9:57 AM
Huh? We had a poll on sects. Didn't we?

If you say, telugu lipi is best than Devanagari, then that's the discussion of languages and their superirority and that's irrelevant to site.

if Devanagari is there for others who can't read transliteration, what about the other others, who can't read transliteration and can't read Devanagari but can read Tamil Telugu Bengali Kannada Malayalam Kanji Sinhalese Korean Hiragana... why do you only want to take care of those people who can read Devanagari? You are saying these people are more deserving. They may be a majority but there are millions of others who will feel excluded if you impose one script, and say, this must be used.
2

@NogShine

The site language is English. As long as transliteration and translation into English are provided, any other language can be used by whoever wants to write it. But don't say, for this special majority we must have this language. It's an exclusive policy.

@GellertGrindelwald is that a policy making post?

9:58 AM
@NogShine um no but wouldn't it be fair to see how many are comfortable?

@TheDestroyer Someone are saying Devanagari is standard and most understood. Not me.

@Zanna Exactly

@Zanna My point is some native script must be used for proper pronunciation and understanding. I am not sure how non native Indians pronounce "jna". I can even see those Indians who are not familiar with at least their mother tongues can't even pronounce few words properly. For example, nArAyANa. Na is not "na".

I thought this site is not limited to India. Poor me.

So, transliteration might not be comfortable with all Indians and myself is not comfortable. I am more comfortable in Telugu as it is my mother tongue even than Devangari.
@Zanna
So, my point is Devanagari can be used as it is most understood by Indians besides any transliteration scheme.

10:02 AM
@NogShine That's why my Meta post is relevant. But some people unfortunately think I'm pointing out a non-issue

@TheDestroyer by most you mean some 25-30% of all Indians?

@NogShine All that traffic from North and central India and those readers from South who can read Devanagari like me and you.

@TheDestroyer So, that's the base of the decision of making Devanagari compulsary?
there are many who still write Tamil words in Q&A

For good or bad, Hindi was made mandatory in all Indian schools and at least those who read English are at least familar with Hindi (at least alphabets which are written in Devanagari) or at least majority of those who understand English are familar with Devangari.

I said to many to add English translation and transliteration. Won't they think different if we support Devanagari and ask them to remove Tamil?

10:07 AM
@NogShine which question? Who wrote Sanskrit in Grantha script?

Okay nvm guys, I'm outta from here, to study Maths. Bye!

@TheDestroyer that's irrelevant. Govt decisions should not affect us. Why Indian schools? We are not supporting a sect or philosophy. Same should be with language or script.

Again, if it is Telugu or Tamil, they can use. For example, one question of Nayanar has Grantha script in it.

@TheDestroyer They wrote Tamil.

@GellertGrindelwald enjoy :D

10:09 AM
@NogShine That relevant because we are here talking about those 52% Indians who visit this site. Obviously those who are fluent in English at least should have familiarity with Devanagari script.

@TheDestroyer Indian Govt policies are affecting us and we are supporting a language? Since when?

@NogShine Tamil Language? I also used telugu lipi for telugu language in one of my answer. What is the problem if translation is used?
@NogShine This is not supporting any language. This is to show how Devangari is familiar among those who visit this site.

@TheDestroyer I don't understand a part of a question and answer. That affects how I use the site. It affects my experience. It matters to me.

@NogShine How does it affect you if transliteration is added? And you personally know Devangari too

@TheDestroyer i can at least read it in the script I know.
I know Devanagari and also know Hindi too. But I can't write in Hindi because many don't know it. It is about understandability.

10:17 AM
@NogShine Ok. You use transliteration. While let others use both Devanagari and a transliteration scheme

@TheDestroyer Why only Devanagari is my question. If there is transliteration, it will be there for everyone not just for people who can't read Devanagari.
There are many users with Tamil origin. So, why not Tamil? If you say they can't understand, that is my answer to Devanagari too. This is an English language site. Devanagari is still a non English script.

@NogShine i have already made it clear. Because all are not comfortable with transliteration.
59 mins ago, by The Destroyer
My point is not about greatness of some xyz script. My point is one native script should be used for proper pronunciation. ज्ञ can be pronounced as it is when seen in Native script, not when we see jña for native hindu users who visit this site. Add some transliteration scheme for those who can't read Devangari

@TheDestroyer So, we are showing some partiality towards a region?

What Region? Don't you know majority of revival work of Hinduism is done by South Indians and they use Devangari too. Are these South Indians where Hindi didn't enter into their languages (except Hyderabad and metros like Banglore) are partial towards North India?

People who can't understand Devanagari should go to external link but not others should not go to external link. This doesn't look fair to me. When Devangari is added, there will be question why not Telugu or Tamil or other script. So, there is no need of Devanagari when you are adding transliteration.

10:25 AM
(afaik in Tamil Nadu it is not compulsory to learn Hindi. Many learn, but it's not required...)

@NogShine I have given my reasons why Devangari can be good choice. Even Sringeri Sarada Peetam, Kanchi kamakoti websites which are located in deep South India use Devanagari script.

@TheDestroyer Talking about present is relevant than what happened a 1000 years ago. People used Sanskrit to talk then. Shall we do it here too?

@Zanna My tamil friends can read Devangari but can't speak a sentence in Hindi
@Zanna Btw, Are you from India, if you don't mind?

No, from UK, just interfering where I have no business as usual

@Zanna that "interfering" might induce "Jijnasa" that can change your life :P

10:30 AM
:D

Jijñāsā is the desire to know. When the jijñāsā or the desire to know the true nature of objects intensifies then one reaches the threshold of jñāna or knowledge about those objects; knowledge. The desire to know is called the sādhya-sādhanā, the desire to know is the very base of knowledge which is an excited state that leads to understanding (paroksha jñāna) which is the beginning point of deeper knowledge (aproksha jñāna). == Meaning == Jijñāsā (Sanskrit: जिज्ञासा) generally means – 'the desire of knowing', 'curiosity', 'inquisitiveness' or 'deliberation (on the nature of)', 'search', ...

I am already infected with that

Adding Devanagari as compulsory for the interest of some users looks bias to me.

ohh.. That's good,

@TheDestroyer Is it possible for us any one of us to sit in meditation like lord Rudra in Kailash?

@AkshayS You should tell me. I have stopped Surya Namaskaras or meditation.
But that's possible. I think that is same as reaching Nirvikalpa Samadhi

Let's forget majority, standard etc. I'm quoting Devanagari because the text is written in Devanagari. If you're quoting any Tami or Telugu work, then quote original Tamil/Telugu words and provide translation. @NogShine
see I've used Tamil words for accuracy and originality in one of my post:

Q: Connection of Nammalwar's work with Sanskrit Vedas

PandyaNammalwar was one of the Alwars (Tamil:ஆழ்வார், Hindi: आलवार), a group of 12 ancient Tamil saints known for their poetry of 4000 verses in praise of Vishnu and preaching Sharanagati. These 4000 verses were later compiled by Natha Muni as Nalayira Divya Prabandham which is considered alike or equi...

@TheDestroyer Its possible for 1hr if you sincerly practice. Just place attention between eyebrows, you will fall into deep meditative state within 10 minutes if you are a beginner. Attention between eyebrows slows down the external breath through nostrils gradually and as we begin to grow, it literally stops. So no need any special Pranayama

The only time i went into somewhat in deep meditation is at Kedareswara temple in Kashi, that too on Nishita Kala of Mahashivaratri. Rest all time i hardly go into deep mediation. @AkshayKumarS

@Pandya that makes good sense to me

@TheDestroyer of course remember that convo. But Shiva is my inspiration. If he can sit for many years in meditation, why cant we?

@NogShine Because Nāku khaccitaṅgā teliyadu about Saraina pronunciation of "தாந்திருவாய்மொழி"

10:42 AM
@Pandya Most of the Scriptures we have online have only Devanagari for Sanskrit. Yes. We just copy the same (i do the same) using GDrive method.
@Pandya khaccitaṅgā fails here. We Telugus use खच्चितंगा not खच्चितङ्गा
@AkshayS Yes,

@TheDestroyer @NogShine Btw, I want to learn Tamil or Telugu which would be easy to learn?

@TheDestroyer Ordinary Pranayama of Hatha Yogas deals with just external breath. We need to know spinal breathing for falling to Samadhi. Hatha Yoga process is Grand trunk express to reach destination but path of Raja Yoga, tantra is shortcut way for self realization. They dont deal with external breath. Focus on mind, stop it and surpass it and then internal breathing begins!
@Pandya I am here for Tamil :P

@AkshayS Good to find that :) Thanks. Are you from TamilNadu?

@Pandya For immortality Tamil language has the secret
@Pandya chennai

@Pandya Telugu and Tamil have similar vocabulary. But Telugu has more Sanskrit vocabulary. Unfortunately, Sanskrit words from tamil were removed during 1980s. :P

10:52 AM
@AkshayS Hmm. I heard that Tamil is also believed divine like Sanskrit.

But if you learn one South Indian language, you can easily learn other South Indian languages.
@Pandya Yes. Skanda taught to Sage Agatsya.

@Pandya Yes Tamil language was given by Muruga, Kartikeya
Tamil speaks on two sets off letters: MEI & UYIR = meaning BODY AND LIFE letters

@AkshayS But do Dravidian ideologists believe in this?

the mei letters are the consonants and the uyir letters are the vowels. So, vowels put life in consonant body :)
it is very easy to learn Tamil script... language I am struggling with XD

@AkshayS All Indian languages have alphabets from Sanskrit. Vowels are called Acchulu and consonants are called Hallulu in Telugu. And if you see Maheshwara Sutras, it will be clear to you why they are named like that.
The Shiva Sutras (IAST: Śivasūtrāṇi) or Māheśvara Sūtrāṇi are fourteen verses that organize the phonemes of Sanskrit as referred to in the Aṣṭādhyāyī of Pāṇini, the foundational text of Sanskrit grammar. Within the tradition they are known as the Akṣarasamāmnāya, "recitation of phonemes," but they are popularly known as the Shiva Sutras because they are said to have been revealed to Pāṇini by Shiva. They were either composed by Pāṇini to accompany his Aṣṭādhyāyī or predate him. The latter is less plausible, but the practice of encoding complex rules in short, mnemonic verses is typical of the sutra...
