2:00 AM
Nice, the software rendered GBA game
On the second day, she sent me a text message while I was at work, saying "Can you bring me a sandwich on your way home?"
She was referring to a pre-packaged sandwich sold at the grocery store that I would go to. That grocery store is, contrary to her assessment, not "on my way", but actually a one hour detour. Half an hour there, half an hour home

@MechMK1 Yeah I'm going to write a question on Retro.SE.

Anonymous
Ah yeah, I have heard this one.

I told her "I am busy with work, plus it's not on my way. If you want a sandwich, either go buy one yourself, or just make one. We have bread, salad, ham, etc. at home"
No response
So, it's 20:00 and after 2 days where you are en route for basically 14 hours daily, you can imagine how fucking tired I was
So now, my wonderful, loving and supporting girlfriend greets me at the door
@forest Would you like to know what she greeted me with?
Or, would you like to guess?

Anonymous
You know this reminds me Mech, the one and only time my girlfriend seemed to suffer from princess syndrome I quite literally just said "you're acting like a brat" and she simply said "you're right, sorry". Never thought about this much until now... Going to send her a text...

2:04 AM
(how do I upload to imgur without using chat?)

@forest IN the question
There is an image button

oh

Was it...

a. "Darling, you're home! I missed you so much! I love you so much!"
b. "Oh dear, you look so tired. Come, give me your bag and just lay down in bed. I'll hold you close."
c. "Where is my sandwich?"
@forest Just take a wild guess which one it is?

Anonymous
Definitely A.

wtf

2:06 AM
No, it was actually B. She also cooked for me, and started a bath too. Then she gave me a massage to help ease my tensed up muscles
But seriously, when she said "Where is my sandwich?"...
I think in this moment I understood why some men hit their wives
I never hit her, ever
But in this moment I understood why some men do
I told her that I was going to completely ignore what she just said, and I will take a bath now.
You know what I want out of a relationship?
Just a tiny shred of respect for what I do, really
Something like "I know you had a long day. I'll cook dinner tonight" or such
And you know, actually cooking dinner and not cracking an egg into a pan and then adding every spice and condiment we have in the house

Anonymous
Yeah I am pretty sure that is all anyone wants really.

Just hold me sometimes and pat my head and tell me she's happy to be with me
Fucking hell how hard can this be?
I tried some e-dating platform before

Anonymous
On a more positive note, Mech, I am fairly certain that you will have that one day. Even though it seems like you might not... I know that is also easy for me to say but.

Anonymous
I'm a fucking weirdo and I got it so.

I got 2 replies: First was "thanks, but no thanks" and the second was "No thanks, but you can sub to my onlyfans here"

Anonymous
2:11 AM
I have faith in you.

I have lost all faith in me

Anonymous
Yeah but e-dating is trash anyways.

I lost all faith in relationships

Anonymous
Yeah... Understandable.

The idea of someone treating me like a normal person seems so foreign
Because nobody ever did
Basically the only time someone ever touched me was to hurt me
I have such deep emotional scars that I have no idea how anyone could even begin to look past them
I'm a fucking wreck
And even if, even if a woman were to look past that, why would she?

Anonymous
2:13 AM
Just got to find the right person... Someone will, really.

Why would anyone actually go for me? I look like a failed abortion attempt. I have the social skills of a moderator from r/incelsRiseUp and that's about it
Look, there's winners in life, and there's losers

Anonymous
I am not sure I really believe that.

And you, J, you're a winner. You have a great job, a girlfriend who loves you, you'll marry her one day and you'll have two beautiful daughters, who will always think fondly of their great father
And I, I have a pillow that I cry into every night while I imagine how wonderful it will be when I'm finally dead

Anonymous
I appreciate that. But I certainly won't have children, don't believe in them. Nor do I believe in marriage.

That's up to you

Anonymous
2:15 AM
I don't really know what to say to that, either.

Live your life however you see fit

Anonymous
It's... A compliment but.

I want nothing more than a family

Anonymous
It also makes me feel sad for you...

And I will never have one
I'm just Darwinism in action
I'm that fucking boxcar with one tiny wheel that landed on its head
I'll just get sorted out next generation
I'm a failure. End of story.
And I feel really sorry for my mother, because she always tried her best to raise me well, and I feel so awful for disappointing her.

Anonymous
2:17 AM
I mean, if it makes you feel better, I am not sure it will. But, my life isn't perfect, by no means. It is VERY different from how it was. My past is wildly different to now and my partner looks past that so I don't see why that couldn't be true or wouldn't be true for you..

It's a possibility
But I will be honest: Believing that it's possible that things will get better just make me feel even worse
Because I get my hopes up, only to have them crushed again
As I said, my social skills are fucking horrible

Anonymous
Mine aren't great either.

Anonymous
Really, not at all.

Anonymous
In real life I am a totally different person to here. I barely talk at all.

Good enough to find someone who looked at you and said "This man is the man I love"

Anonymous
2:20 AM
Well, I actually met her on the internet.

So did I

Anonymous
So it helped a lot because. We spoke a lot before I even met her.

Anonymous
Which made me a lot more comfortable.

Anonymous
Which made up for my lack of social skills.

Yeah the shit thing is that even if you meet someone you like, oh great, she lives across the globe

Anonymous
2:21 AM
Then you can meet someone else on the internet and become more comfortable with them online first, so it doesn't rely purely on social skills.

Anonymous
Well, if you recall earlier when I said the first year of my relationship was not like this.

I know

Anonymous
She did live half away across the globe.

Anonymous
She lived in Palestine.

Anonymous
So like, it is of course a huge challenge.

Anonymous
2:22 AM
But if you're both committed it is not unsolvable.

Anonymous
THis probably doesn't help much but.

Anonymous
I would like to give you some examples of reality.

Anonymous
In the case it does..

Honestly
I don't think anyone would even care about me that much
I appreciate the sentiment, really

Anonymous
Yeah, I used to think that as well.

2:23 AM
But there is nothing about me that someone else can't offer way better

Anonymous
Completely unrelated but, if I ever come to Austria (which I am sure I will because I really wanna visit) then I really must go for a drink with you, Mech.

Anonymous
@MechMK1 And, I also thought that too.

Sure thing
I've never gone out like that before, but why not?

Anonymous
I have thought all these things as well. Like, I do get it, 100%. And when I felt those, it didn't really matter what anyone said.

Anyways, it's getting late
I should go to bed now

2:25 AM
Meet up somewhere like DEF CON. :P

Anonymous
@MechMK1 It'll be fine. We can find somewhere that isn't so popular :)

Too much social anxiety for that

Also unrelated, but just posted my RC question as MechMK suggested some days ago:
0
Q: How did the Rush 3D engine in Crazy Taxi: Catch a Ride work?

forestIn an interview with the developers of the Crazy Taxi game for the GBA, they mention that they were able to achieve 3D graphics with a pure-software 3D rendering engine that they called Rush: It is a full 3D poly engine – so it is ideal for most types of game. This engine allows us to develop ga...

Yeah, let me have a look at that first

Anonymous
I am not the most social person but my skills have improved a lot since having to take my girlfriend out so.

Anonymous
2:26 AM
@forest Yeah that'd be cool. I was going to meet Tom. K (don't think he comes here anymore) at OffensiveCon but I couldn't go in the end.

It's funny, while I was with my gf, I was a lot more social too
Tom still hates me :D

Anonymous
Does he? How come? :D

Because I'm far-right

lol

But the hate isn't mutual

Anonymous
2:26 AM
Oh... Right.

Anonymous
I like Tom, nice guy. Not seen him in forever. Didn't know he hated you.

Dude some of your views, at least from the perspective of an American, are not very far right.

I always say things like "I hope you have a wonderful day" and "I hope you have a lot of success in your new job"
@forest To a german, they are
The concept of "Nationalism" itself is a taboo for them

Anonymous
Yeah I guess it makes sense given Tom is german...

Anonymous
A lot of people don't come here anymore.

Anonymous
2:28 AM
Benoit.

The fun thing is, he accused me of "ruining the DMZ"

Oh I'm sure. But your views don't have enough of a "free market is the solution to everything!" slant that would be needed for an American to consider truly far-right.

Anonymous
Arminius.

Because apparently "It used to be a place of thoughtful discussion"

@MechMK1 Seriously? Well I think those guys might go to some private Slack channel.

2:28 AM
@forest Because it's not

Anonymous
He accused you of ruining the DMZ?

Yes :D

Anonymous
@forest Yeah, we have a Slack but. I have not joined in ages. Not sure if anyone still talks there.

Anonymous
You know what, let me dig out the credentials. I am going to check.

Anonymous
We created it for CTFs...

2:29 AM
Funny thing is, aside from him, nobody ever complained

Is that the The DMZ alternative, or a different one?

Like, if 5 other people had told me I'm a fucking cunt, sure, I would understand him

I vaguely recall something about an alternate DMZ on Slack.

Anonymous
Oh they have another slack?

But he is the only one who ever openly had a problem with me

Anonymous
2:29 AM
The slack I have is the secse ctf slack.

idk
Oh it's probably not the same then.

Anonymous
I don't recall it being named as dmz.

Anonymous
Yeah I am not in that one then... :D

Well idk the name. I just recall someone talking about it.

Anonymous
@MechMK1 I guess that is why he doesn't come here anymore... perhaps.

2:30 AM
Most likely, yeah
But the thing is, that's on him
I've only ever been friendly to him
His response was to dox me :D

Anonymous
Really?

Anonymous
Wow...

Yeah
He posted my full name and my private e-mail address in the DMZ

Anonymous
That is not like the guy I spoke to at all. That's not good at all.

Anonymous
Doxxing is retarded.

2:31 AM
He probably told himself he's going to "fight against the evil nazis"

He does not seem like a very friendly guy then.

Anonymous
^

I knew he seemed a little tense on the subject of politics, but damn.

Anonymous
I lost my creds for the slack. Guess we'll never know if they still use it.

He's never been that friendly to me, but that's okay

2:31 AM
You could get him banned for that.

Anonymous
Benoit can invite but I've not seen him in forever either.

I asked Rory to scrub the DMZ history from that (so even mods can't see)

Maybe he's banned from here lol

And as far as I know, he also has a private convo that he can't just fucking dox me just because he doesn't like me
No, he came here after that too

But damn, talk about a guy overreacting. I'm not sure if he disliked me or not, but he seemed not to like me because I don't hold far-left views (despite being left-wing myself).

Anonymous
2:32 AM
^

I wouldn't want him to get banned

Anonymous
That is very extreme, yeah.

I mean, the DMZ is for him just as much as it is for everyone else
But fuck man, he got his almonds activated pretty hard

Anonymous
I wasn't here when you came here a lot Mech so I guess I missed all of this at the time.

Anonymous
@forest I think he just disagreed with many of your views.

Anonymous
2:33 AM
He disagreed with mine too.

@MechMK1 Haven't you been here for like... 10 years though? It's not like you're new and ruining the site.

And that's how things should be
Pffffff
A year or two tops
He's definitey been here longer

huh
I thought you were here for a lot longer.

Anonymous
I think he is referring to in the DMZ, forest.

Anonymous
As in, regularly in here.

2:34 AM
I've been on SE for a long time, but not the DMZ

Anonymous
Since when I first joined, Mech was not in this chat regularly. He came in regularly a month or so after I stopped coming here.

And even on SE, 99% of my old posts were just programming questions
Back when I was a teenager learning how to code

> Member for 10 years, 3 months
On SO.

Yeah
Not like I've been active
I'm honestly an oldfag, shit..

That's not how you use that term. Shame on you.

2:36 AM
That's probably why the SO I remember and the SO there is today are so different

:^)

:^D

Anonymous
Now I think about it...

Anonymous
Forest you're the only one left from when I came here.

Anonymous
Well, with the exception of mods and stuff, I guess.

2:37 AM
Well people come and go. And supposedly this place used to be way more active before mods almost nuked it due to people being too... free spirited? Or something. It was before my time.

Anonymous
Yeah. I wasn't here then either.

Anonymous
I just remember hating my odl job so much

Anonymous
i would sit in here all day with everyone who used to come here

>too free spirited
As in...?
I mean I posted shota hentai the other day

Anonymous
Yeah apparently it used to be really NSFW.

Anonymous
2:39 AM
Then they wanted people to use it at work.

I have no idea. Rory just said something about mods trying to nuke it.

Anonymous
SO they started actually moderating it.

Anonymous
Apparently..

Gotta post more haikus then

Well to be fair you didn't actually post hentai. You referred to it and posted a SFW image.

2:39 AM
It was a page from a hentai manga
Not my fault that it didn't contain nudity

Anonymous
I feel somewhat like the mods gave up with this place.

Anonymous
When I was here a year ago there was almost always a mod here

Anonymous
but now i dont see that much at all.

I could post a page that contains KISSING
ON
THE MOUTH

Anonymous
maybe its just covid or something who knows.

2:40 AM
I don't think they have. Rory is still here. I imagine if anyone actually did something really bad, they'd get hit hard. But as it is, it's not like we're doing anything but making references to memes.

Anonymous
Yeah, good point.

Unless they bother checking the delieted posts
Or I say there there is nothing wrong with fascism
That's what got me banned last time :D

Anonymous
You know what I always found strange. How this site is still alive. It doesn't feel that popular but it actually has a lot of users.

Anonymous
Its a weird feeling. Perhaps its just me.

My deleted posts at least are nothing more than slightly edgy.

2:41 AM
Also you know what's weird?
How Tom once told me that I am "Misusing my freedom of speech"

Anonymous
Yeah he used to say that to forest a lot.

When I said "There is nothing wrong with fascism"

>Germany
>Freedom of speech
pick one

^ true

Anonymous
I actually remember him saying that to forest quite often.

2:42 AM
@J-- Well I'm a free speech absolutist, so... I imagine he disagrees strongly with that.

No, but it doesn't even make sense on a conceptual level

Anonymous
yeah.

You cannot possibly "misuse" freedom of speech

Anonymous
@forest Oh I remember distinctly he did.

Because if I genuinely believe that fascism is a viable ideology, then saying so is "Freedom of speech working as intended"

Anonymous
2:43 AM
Arminius doesn't come here much anymore either.

Anonymous
He's a nice guy. ANother german I think

I think that's likely for other reasons.

Anonymous
Yeah they can't ALL hate mech, right? @MechMK1 :D

Most of the people who don't come around a lot haven't gotten triggered by Mech.

:DDDD

Anonymous
2:43 AM
:D

I don't know anyone like that
Must have been gone before I came here
And even then, just man up and tell me to shut the fuck up
People are so fucking quick to report but can't hold a civil discussion

Anonymous
Yeah, I think forest is right. It is very much likely for other reasons lol

The best cure for bad speech is free speech.

Anonymous
Now I think about it, I was way more right-wing when I came here before.

Anonymous
I have changed a lot in 2 years...

2:45 AM
It's so hilarious
People say that I as a Nazi want to control freedom of speech, and I tell them no, I want people to speak freely. And yet they're the ones who want to censor me.
Like, the fucking irony...

Thinking in terms of right and left wing is often dangerous. It's not a 1 dimensional scale.

That is true

Anonymous
@forest I am glad I am not the only one who edits old answers...

Especially since "right" or "left" mean vastly different things in the US than europe

Anonymous
2:46 AM
@forest oh agreed

@J-- Oh I constantly edit answers if I can improve them. I just wish I could sage so they don't all get bumped unnecessarily.

I heard it works if you put sage as the editing reason

Anonymous
Yeah, I like to edit mine too. But then I feel like people think I am doing it for the wrong reasons...

@MechMK1 Yep. Where I'm from, left wing means anti-gun, censor everything you don't agree with, big government. Right wing means military superiority, obsessive free market, corporations can never be wrong. The concept that we're not a sports team of "us vs them" just does not compute.

@forest I literally disagree with all of these things
I'm very much pro-gun, anti-censorship, small gov't, military to the degree where they can protect the countries own border (military must never operate outside the countries own border), market restrictions and dab on corporations

Anonymous
2:48 AM
Yeah left-wing in UK likewise means something vastly different.

Anonymous
Left-wing in the UK means you're a terrorist sympathizer and you want Sharia courts.

@J-- Bloody 'ell

@MechMK1 Which makes you a rational person, even if you do hold views I disagree with (I'm very much anti-nationalist, although I can understand their reasoning). I'm left libertarian. I believe in freedom to own firearms. I also believe in social services. I think military should be limited to self-defense, and government regulation should focus on crimes with actual victims, and crimes of corporate corruption. But 'murrican right wingers think left = commie, left wingers think right = nazi.

Anonymous
Right-wing in the UK means you're a racist, hate black people, hate immigration and want the British empire back.

Anonymous
@MechMK1 I realise my evaluation seems silly

2:49 AM
@forest I completely understand your views and don't see a problem with them

Anonymous
But it really is based on realism

Anonymous
Thats really how it is here.

People have no fucking clue who the Nazis were. Let me find that clip

Anonymous
As for right-wing... A family member disowned me for and I quote "fucking a sand..." fill in the blank.

Anonymous
So it is fair to say that is the current situation of labels in this country.

2:50 AM
O_o

I think family should be more important than ideology

I think they're not comparable, and you can have both.

If I had a son and he'd have a black girlfriend, I might disapprove, but it's his life, not mine. And if she makes him happy, then I am happy for him.

Family should not interfere with ideology and vise versa.

Anonymous
Oh Mech... If only you knew.

2:51 AM
You told me before

Anonymous
The things that same family member said

Anonymous
If I took her near their property.

Anonymous
to be fair that same family member

Anonymous
advocated for police brutality

Anonymous
so we can't really take them seriously.

2:52 AM
I'm sorry you have to deal with this

Anonymous
Oh it is fine. I haven't spoken to them in years.

I'm not for police brutality
But I am also not for police having to say "Please stop assaulting this woman" and idly standing by
In germany, it took 8 cops to take on one 15-year-old migrant kid

Anonymous
Yeah no, that family member was saying police should have the right to attack protestors.

Anonymous
Because they're "causing drama for no reason"

@J-- Absolutely not

2:53 AM
In the US it'd also take 8 cops, and they'd all shoot someone.

Anonymous
Same one who called my girlfriend a sand...

Anonymous
So yeah we don't listen to their stupid views lmfao

Anonymous
my girlfriend mailed them a prayer mat funnily enough

Anonymous
:D

Sprinkling oil in the fire, I see :D

2:54 AM
lol

Sop yeah, anyways, it's really getting late

Anonymous
Yeah, the funniest part is she's not even a muslim :D

Time for some existential dread

Anonymous
Take care :D

Have a good night, my friends!

2:54 AM
g'night, my genocidal far-right nazi friend :^)

Anonymous
I am going to be up for a while longer.

Anonymous
Only 3am. lightwork.

And try not to get banned

Anonymous
I just started reading this book

Sieg Heil, my friend :D

Anonymous
2:55 AM
@forest :D

(disclaimer to anyone reading this: that was a joke. lrn2humor)

Also @J-- best wishes to you and your girlfriend. I wish you both the best!

Anonymous
So, kepaklakalalalala recommended me serious cryptography by jp aumusson

Anonymous
butchered the names. good book so far. a bit more math heavy than this course but

Anonymous
@MechMK1 Thank you :)

Anonymous
2:56 AM
I'll tell her when she wakes up at 4pm lmfao

Anonymous
fucking snorlax :D

Serious Cryptography is No Starch Press, right?

Anonymous
Yeah, that's right.

Anonymous
Interestingly, this book is in a different format.

Anonymous
Introduces block ciphers before stream ciphers.

Anonymous
2:57 AM
Could one not argue stream ciphers are a bit easier to start with?

Anonymous
Since they're a bit easier to understand in general...

Anonymous
Well, at least so far.

They're both pretty basic primitives, but a block cipher is often considered to be a "universal primitive" (at least until recently... nowadays people are moving on to public permutations)

Anonymous
Hmm, I guess it does make sense from the point of view that block ciphers are way more common, I guess?

Anonymous
It doesn't much matter. I just found it easier to understand stream ciphers hence I noticed the difference in formatting.
