The key concepts in Ingress could actually be pretty awesome as a film. They have all sort of been done independently, but the backstory here is nicely compiled
@LucasKauffman My first time in Amsterdam, I went for a walk after work, yknow just to see the city. Wanted to stop at a pub for a drink, so I walked towards an area with a bunch of bright colored lights.
@LucasKauffman after a conference some of the girls from my previous work wanted to take me into Amsterdam to see a 'show' - I had to decline to go to an empeg meetup... schofiel.home.xs4all.nl/empeg/usermeet
I'm not so much into rep and all (although I expect to get to 3k eventually, where it starts to be fun to have rep), but what's your word on Sec.SE when compared to other SE sites regarding the speed of gaining rep... I think it's one of the toughest, by my observations.
@D3C4FF yeah for that question -- me neither. The answer is great tho, it even inspired me to make a reply of my own... you'll see what I mean with make LOL (tho someone took it personal for whatever reason)
@ScottPack Oh yes, and SF... I've noticed that. Here at least I'm not bothered because I'm actually learning loads and is fun to be around too... the atmosphere there (SF) isn't so much my cup of tea tho. And I've noticed many hit and run questions too
@TildalWave Indeed. In either case, the majority of questions on both sites don't much appeal to me. I've noticed that, on average, more voting happens on Sec.SE, but there's fewer posts to spread things around.
@ScottPack I have this gut feeling Sec.SE will grow much much stronger in time. Some SE sites have this quality feel to it and this one has it. Stats can tell you only that much, it's also about the attitude and the general feeling people get... plus, IT security as a conversational subject is still only scraping the surface in terms of global scale popularity, which is fast changing as more people become aware of their need for it IMO
those questions we call rep trains sorta prove this... it's becoming popular, but most aren't yet ready to plunge into the deep end of it
@TildalWave Oh, I can't disagree with your assessment.
I suppose what I mean, though, is that the majority of the questions that I see are more about topics that I don't enjoy. Things like applications, cryptography, etc.
Some of the pentesting ones I see are interesting, but they tend to be more appy than I like. I'm more a vulnerability management guy than a penetration testing guy.
