7:33 PM
I have three questions for you.
In the Bible, why did the first man and woman not die when they ate from the fruit that they were told by God to not eat?
In Genesis 5:3, why was Seth the son in his father's likeness, according to his image, while the first man (Adam) was created by God in God's image?
According to Genesis 4:26, why did people begin to invoke the name of the LORD, while according to the Priestly tradition, the divine name wasn't used until the time of Moses (Exodus 6:2-6)?
I know that the Bible is a long book. By the judgment of the number of questions for the beginning chapters of Genesis, my questions are presumably going to be endless. :P
If I were a Jew or Christian, I would probably have the privilege of asking a rabbi, minister, priest or pastor. But nope, I am completely unaffiliated, and I don't know who to ask besides this forum, which seems to be ideal for asking Bible-related questions. :-D

So, apparently I have access to moderator privileges now. Can someone give me some direction on that? Where do I go to view / access these new privileges?

@Jas3.1 Do you mean something other than the documentation?
Basically you now may vote to close delete and a few other things. Welcome to the big leagues. ;-)

@JonEricson Hey, I can vote to delete a question! Does that count?

@Anonymous I think what you can do is flag a post so that it might be deleted. It's still pretty important!

Well, I can vote to delete my own questions!
There are two separate options: (1) close and (2) delete.
Anybody know the answer to my questions mentioned above? ;-)

@Anonymous Well, they did die. Like nearly everyone. (It just wasn't right away.)
@Anonymous Part of the answer, I think may be found:

Q: How did mankind's way of relating to God change in Genesis 4:26?

SoldarnalAt the end of Chapter 4 of Genesis there is a statement in verse 26, "It was then that men began to invoke the Lord by name." Other translations have "call on the name" or "worship the LORD by name". Before this it seems like Adam and Abel worshiped God. And Cain certainly spoke to God. In any e...

Q: Exodus 6:3 - what is the significance of God's different names in the Tanakh?

AmichaiExodus 6:3: And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob by the name of God Almighty, but by My name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. (KJV) This is a strange and unique verse in the Bible since it's an explicit recognition of the fact that God has multiple names in the Tanakh (...

@Anonymous I'm not sure if we have a question for that. Is this what you are looking for:

Q: What does "image" in Genesis 1:26-27 mean?

GalacticCowboyGenesis 1:26-27 (ESV) 26Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." 27So God cr...
