True. We're in consulting, so we quote it and customers usually don't opt to pay for more work done to support versioning.

And, depending how you handle it, you don't own the final solution, so they won't be calling you to update their data.

Yeah

Down to 5 more chapters on Docker.
And working on figuring out how to run ASP.NET Core websites through it.

that makes me wonder - are they going to keep developing IIS?
IINM, the ASP.NET Core is now fully decoupled from IIS.
(actually that already started at some point with ASP.NET itself a while before core was a thing but still)

I don't think so.
They are focusing more on Kestrel now.
I don't think it's officially dead yet, though.

8:08 PM
is that based on Katana?

Not sure? What's Katana?

that's what they called the OWIN thingee
I think that was the project codename which enabled you to deploy a ASP.NET solution indepenently of IIS
using OWIN middleware

Might be?
Kestrel is their new webserver.
It's apparently one of the top 5 fastest webservers in the world.

Interesting
never heard of it but looking at the sample, it looks almost similar

So, my ASP.NET Core Docker app is running nice. Now I just need to let it connect to the DB.

Being handed request of "Um... Yeah.... We'd like you to start generating reports." and not knowing the first step as to how to do that isn't a great feeling. Time for RBAR querying.

10:56 PM
reports usually have some kind of goal?
Shouldn't need RBAR querying?

I'll probably start out that way because of ignorance.

Is there a way to list every time you're pinged in chat?
@IvenBach :derp: Chat search @UserName does the trick.
