> How close to chat it is: The more features you include that SE chat has, the better. (This excludes mod tools, but not RO tools.)
ooh that could lead to some interesting edge cases given that I have diamond abilities :p
(also cc @Ginger I'm more than happy to be the one breaking the chat programs)
> Every glaring omission he finds takes points off your score.
what's a glaring omission?
SQL injection that lets you rickroll people by injecting an XSS into the room name, probably
@lyxal on second thought, to make sure I don't break anything I'd probably be better off testing diamondless
(break anything on SE)
(not in the chat programs)
I think you're misunderstanding what we're doing
We're making chat clones totally independent of chat
So your SE powers won't do anything
oh
well then
that's even better
I don't have to worry about fricking anything up that I shouldn't be messing up :p
Mwahahaha your mod diamond has no power here
02:52
depends on how good your program is :p

Mine's going to use some super cool encryption stuff
When you first join, you'll get a code from an existing user
That code will be used to validate that the pubkey for that user that the server sends you is correct
Then you'll use that pubkey to send the user your public key, and they'll check with the server to ensure it matches
Then they and the server will sign your pubkey
And using that sort of thing, the users will be able to network with one another to prevent the server from being able to lie about a user's pubkey
Ooh what if I did a web of trust style thing for moderation
Where two people need to trust you before you can join, and if two people you trust get banned, you get banned

@RydwolfPrograms I use JSON, HAHAHAHAHA.
Okay so I am using three-layer encryption.
This is how user auth is going to work:
1. User logins with username and password.
2. Server creates a session id in the database with the associated user.
3. Server sets a session id cookie.
4. In future requests the session id cookie is grabbed for auth.
Though how do I make a cookie only last for one session?
@RydwolfPrograms That is very bad.
It will cause tons of complications.
Because what if someone tricks you into getting their trust?
Also if one of your trusted people are banned that doesn't mean you were involved so it's unfair.
I can see people exploiting the trust feature to get users banned.
@Ginger You can score me more strictly.
You did give me 2 days of a head start.
So this way things will be fair.
@lyxal I am going to have moderator and RO have the same abilities except that RO can change the settings of the room of course.
