Q: 5 friends Each Liking 1 Color- To find Based on clue

Gulshan KumarUsing the clues provided, determine the correct combination of colours for each person: Five friends (Alex, Ben, Claire, David, and Emma) each have a favourite colour (Blue, Green, Red, Yellow, and Violet). Alex's favourite colour is not Blue or Yellow. Ben's favourite colour is Red. Claire's fa...

@oAlt yep!

CCCC: Perhaps autism, according to doctor in good hospital department, has affected my nose (8'1 8)
04:23
as per + G + ER + 's + syn(Dr.)ome*
@Jafe Yes :)
Yes. Took me a bit to see where the (literal) 'S came from.
that was the last bit i got as well
CCCC: Son's old incurable complication showing no hint of autism spectrum disorder (6,9)
04:43
@Jafe That's COLOUR BLINDNESS = (SONS OLD INCUR(a)BLE)*
Ahh, another spectrum
Yes, not an 80's homecomputer ...
Lol (TIL)
04:59
correct!
05:25
CCCC: Drug seen in contents of movie rated only 40% in Spectrum? (7)

2 hours later…
07:36
(looks up Spectrum's rating of Dune …)
08:06
A rainbow is a spectrum, but can't get it to fit
08:53
ra would be 40% of "rated", and the "in" is there
but yeah don't see how the rest would work

Q: Can you find the last 20 Moves?

Tim SeifertFor this puzzle, I tried my hand at a type of structure similar to those appearing in a few of Dmitri Baibikov's (brilliant!) puzzles. It took a lot of fiddling to finally get this working, but I'm really happy with the result: Can you determine the last 20 single moves that led to this position?...

last 20? sheesh
09:47
answered a rubik's cube question, lol
tryna keep Bass from overtaking me on the all-time board again
Lol
Re: C4, "contents of movie" is surely "ovi" but I cannot get that to fit either
(looks for an answer of Bass's to award 500 bounty to, just to spite Jafe…)
10:07
haha yeah they answered anyway
10:23
@Jafe "Now look at all edge pieces with orange in them. We should be able to find a piece that's either a duplicate (e.g. two different edge pieces with orange-blue) or impossible (e.g. orange-red edge piece but orange and red are on opposite sides of the cube)." Why an edge piece specifically? Can't it be elsewhere?
rats, you're right... it's not that simple
clearly i'm doomed to 7th place with perpetual 77,777 rep
deleted mine, i don't think it was salvageable
contents of movie are clearly OVI but none of the usual drug abbreviations look promising inside that string
^ Yes. Should have used "middle part" for better surface reading.
Perhaps you're all putting the cart before the horse?
10:42
Ah, it's Zovirax = _ovi_ ra_ in Zx
@MOehm this hint gave it to me
@oAlt and this link
ahh couldn't see the definition being "drug", that is such a wordplay-y word
nice clue
@Jafe 'tis
it's.
@msh210 Yep, that's it.
Thanks.
CCCC: Second smothered in soot here (5)
10:49
@msh210 50% serious guess: THERE = (-smo)there(-d) // (soo)t here
not my intention, I'm afraid
actually what am I thinking? That would be two cryptics
11:33
it's actually _ot her_ = second
lot of substring opportunities in 5 words
@msh210 Thank you. I also had the feeling that the answer was a proper name for a drug
@msh210 (ultimately, that one also goes to MOehm :))
12:01
@Jafe yep yep
@oAlt ah, true
@Jafe (my idea being "other" as in "I call my dad every other day")
12:30
CCCC: Late 50s movie ultimately embraced by enthusiast (6)
@Jafe fallen (late) = LL _e embraced by fan
nice clue
13:02
correct!
thanks
CCCC: An even mixture of… thing (5)
Ominous
@msh210 I'm guessing this is night anagram, where even = evening archaically or poetically
@oAlt aye
13:26
CCCC: Previous parliamentary leader going back... (9) / ...left evil (8)
Whoever answers the clue that's answered second, you go next
latter one is sinister ddef
and p_ + receding
@Jafe yup!
Yeah well if you won't take my word for it then I'm afraid you have to try it for yourself. The move sequence is really complicated. Btw how does one 'accidentally turn a sub-cube' to reach an unreachable position?? Only by taking the cube apart one gets at unreachable positions and that can hardly be called 'accidentally '?! — Matthé Uijttewaal 2 hours ago
Is that a fair criticism of me asking for a move sequence?
13:45
@bobble dunno why you said "accidentally" in the earlier comment… in any event I'd assume that either (a) he doesn't remember the sequence, (b) he can't be bothered to reproduce it, or (c) he cheated (twisted a corner or replaced stickers). In any case, I don't think you're getting your move sequence from him.
not sure why a move sequence matters if the question is "can you make these patterns" and the answer is "dunno but check out these other patterns i made up"
@Jafe also a good point :-)
There was a previous answer that also made different patterns so I thought the folks in that Q&A thought changing the patterns was okay

CCCC: I wager everything I have in Tennessee's capital (7)
Sep 9, 2022 at 15:05, by M Oehm
Yeah. You should go all-in in Tennessee wit your next clue for a change. :)
(for avoidance of doubt, we're looking at T(ALL IN)N, a capital)
hahah
that is right and i have no memory of seeing that even though i clearly did
hell i even responded to it :P
should get my memory checked

Q: This is a rebus

LezzupBody must be at least 30 characters, so here it is: This is a rebus:

2 hours later…
16:41
@juicifer Y2K?
As in "why 2000?"
16:58
@AncientSwordRage what would be the definition part then

1 hour later…
18:22
@juicifer .... I don't know... I really off my cryptics game it seems
18:35
@juicifer oh hang on I think I remember my earlier logic. 2000 is the def for Y2K. Y is from I say "how come (why~Y) and you're not playing NBA Live, NBA 2K was a rival to NBA Live
@AncientSwordRage yeah, there you go
fwiw my intention was "how come you're not playing nba live" -> "why 2k" (i.e. why are you playing 2k)
and then you homophone the whole thing
@juicifer that's kinda how I read it, but I couldn't articulate it very well
CCCC: Tablet describes Trojan hero commanded to devour everyone (11)
