Q: The square root puzzle

Kamal SalehSo I made this cool square root pattern: $\sqrt 2$, $\sqrt 3$, $\sqrt 5$, $\sqrt 7$, $\sqrt {11}$, $\sqrt {13}$, $\sqrt {17}$, $\sqrt {19}$, ... what's the next number? a hint will make this too easy, sorry about that.

^ unsure if close-worthy? Isn't really a puzzle, just a number-sequence, but not sure

1:09 AM
I debated using the "math problem vs puzzle" reason but came to the conclusion it is a puzzle, just one that is extremely low quality

Think I'm inclined to agree, very borderline though, without the square roots it would be an obvious close

Q: Shuffling blocks puzzle

MathIsCoolWe have 5 blocks denoted A, B, C, D, and E. Let's stack them in two layers such that block A and B are on the top and blocks C, D, and E are on the bottom. Call this arrangement ABCDE: Let there be three groups consisting of blocks ACD, blocks ABD, and blocks BDE. Each move consists of choosing ...

the c4 is tricky, both ends of the clue seem like promising wordplay components and regardless of which end i start at there seems to be too much stuff in-between for only a 6-letter answer

6:42 AM
C4 hint: The definition "half" is one word.

@msh210 WHILST ('as') = W_ H_ I_ + TSL< where 'as they come in' implies starting letters, and 'we will post here' clues 'TSL' i.e. The Sphinx's Lair! That was TRICKY!

well i was not close to getting that hehe

Neither was I for a looooong time. Once I spotted WHI- it took ages to work out how LST was derived, and when I finally saw it I genuinely laughed out loud!

@Stiv correct. Well done!

Got there in the end!

Q: Could Norjak have been a stage illusion?

François JurainI am not certain this is the right site for this post: rather than your analysis of an actual trick of stage magic, I invite you to reconsider the hijacking of Flight NOA 305 ("Norjak") under the unproven assumption it was actually a feat of escapology. Please comment if you find this out of place &

Q: Harary's generalized Tic-Tac-Toe; Winning strategy for Skinny on a 7 x 7 board?

Mike EarnestDisclaimer: The purpose of this post is a ask question, not to offer a puzzle. Still, there are some puzzles here for the reader's pleasure. Disclaimer 2: This question was also asked on Math Stack Exchange. I gave an answer there which gives some partial progress. Animal tic-tac-toe was conceiv...

Q: Permutations of first 10 natural numbers such that all the prefix sums are distinct

bigbangI posted this question on Math SE as well. Did not receive any help. This is a question that I was asked in a Quant Interview. I would like you all to have a crack at this. I could not find a problem similar in any way to this on the internet. Given the first 10 natural numbers: $1, 2, \ldots 10...
