@HTM Is it JOINTS, as follows? The wordplay is JOTS (drops of ink or, generally, small things, as in "jot and tittle"), which IN parts (divides). And it's &lit: to joint means to drop in parts (specifically, to add joints/hinges to something).

I was looking at that word as well! lol - Though I was thinking JOINTS as in meat? Which a butcher breaks into parts, I guess.

Q: Simple language rebuses

IsaacRoan SisonWhat 2-word associates with this rebus? (actually not a rebus) also: What word associates with this rebus?

4:02 AM
@JeremyDover very minor, but you're missing a closing square bracket in your third spoiler in your answer to stiv's polly o'mino puzzle

@msh210 Oh man, that's really clever, but it's not the intended solution - if I had intended the clue to be an &lit, I would've marked it as such with an exclamation point
Also, how would JOINT or some variation of that be the solution to the incorrect clue (Hint 1)?

@GarethMcCaughan I think "situation" covers the more general case of "What should you do?", while "mystery" is specifically "What has already happened?"
but I don't particularly think there's a lot of value in distinguishing those

I promise y'all that the actual answer for the C4 will make sense when it's revealed

I had thought of POINTS by the same logic as msh but it too doesn't work

@HTM You didn't say it had a similar answer.
Though, now you did. :-)

@bobble After this chat message was posted, the answer was updated to include a minimal explanation for how to deduce.

10:34 PM
@Stiv I notice you stole my idea of answering old grid-deductions that have no full solution
Now I'm worried that you'll "snipe" the one I'm currently working on...

10:49 PM
@bobble Hehe! Nope, nothing to worry about there - I stumbled upon this one in the sidebar, linked through from another question earlier today, and realised I hadn't done a masyu in a long time :) I have no plans for any others right now, fear not!

good good
I am 14 pictures in to the current one I'm working on
It's a deliciously well-made puzzle that really deserves a full explanation

Oof, well I shan't be doing any others any time soon I reckon, so that one is probably safe!
