10:00 PM
The reprise, where the audience joins in, is chef kiss amazing

@Sciborg basically anything by phantogram

mwah

m w a h

I've gotta listen to Hamilton more, that's also a fantastic soundtrack
Phantogram is like... death rock right?

nnnot quite
i'd recommend their voices album, and also maybe three

10:02 PM
counterpoint: Alexander Hamilton
hmm, #13 is tricky

they lure you in with fun puzzles and then increase the difficulty until you come begging to Deus

Pretty much.
#1: Ah man these are so fun
#13: DEUS HELP ME

#1 you also needed help
but that one is just supposed to teach you the basic deductions, so needing help on those is understandable

square

I needed help with pretty much the first five, from there I think I had a handle and asked when I got stuck on deductions
and obviously a few tripped me up a lot
But hey, puzzle solving is collaborative :D

10:08 PM
only if you can find people to collaborate with

I do really genuinely appreciate that you and Deus helped me so much.
I was worried that I would annoy people by asking for help

hehe, I'm entering in a college course I took over the summer which has "Java Script" in the name
that's not how you write it!

aghhhhhh

@Sciborg hey, I asked before you did. It's in my best interest not to be annoyed
You agree that "Java Script" is evil?

Java Script is incredibly cursed

10:11 PM
java script

but genuinely though, thanks for helping me out the past few days, you were a big help.

I like you. You're nice. If I help you I get to feel very smart. What's not to like?

(No prob, deus)

:D
You did get to brain-flex on me a lot which I bet was a lot of fun

Brain-flexing is 1/4 the reason I tutor so much
(1/2 is because it's so nice to see people understand something, 1/4 is for college apps)

10:14 PM
Helping people understand something new and getting to brain-flex is the biggest win.
if you ever need help with programming/code at any point, i can be like "now it's my turn to have the brain powers"

Whew
I just finished my scrimmage

congrats!

Hi North! Congrats!

So funny story
I didn't get to do my actual role (pre-trial attorney, argues whether a piece of evidence is admissible or not) because the other team did not have a pre-trial attorney, but instead I had to do defense bench attorney bc one person from my group overslept and didn't come

Oh no
Did it go well?

10:19 PM
@bobble What do you mean? The meta post?
@Sciborg It was... interesting

The meta answer with links to all of the FTC puzzles

Okay so our team was pretty good, at least on defense
@bobble Ah Ic
(I was filling in for defense)
But opposing side (prosecution) kept objecting for "narrative", to the point where it was getting really annoying
Like chill

What does objecting for narrative mean?
Were they just like interrupting the trial?

An objection to "narrative" is basically, that the witness keeps on going on and on when answering a question

Ahh

10:22 PM
But it has to be like unneccarily long for "narrative" to apply

So it's basically the legal way of saying "hey dude get to the point"

More or less, yes
But they were doing it to a point where it's basically being a jerk

Probably pissed off the witness too

Like during cross-examination, most of the answers to the questions are "yes" or "no". Sometimes the witnesses don't give a clear a clear yes or no, which you object to by saying "witness being non-responsive"
But literally every single time when our witness would say something after "yes", the opposing side would be like "motion to strike everything after the yes?"
Like
Chill

"motion to annoy everyone in this video call"

10:26 PM
Also, because it was all over zoom, I try to object to something really big, but the judge didn't hear me
I was so annoyed

I hate when that happens

I literally said it three times

It's like in Discord where you start talking and somebody louder talks over you and cancels out your mic so everyone just hears a bunch of random noise
Online calls are great but they're frustrating
Were you being graded on your performance?

@Sciborg indeed

10:41 PM
#13 still sending you into windows?

Either that or this global deduction requires much more math than I'm capable of right now
the fact that some pieces can cover 3 dots is the struggle

picture? bobble help?
@merrybot: can you draw a picture of a bobblecrown helping Sciborg?

well, i'm halfway through a deduction but this is the puzzle:

Okay, let's look closely at Ts
Where do they have to go?

To make the math work out with covering 3 dots, they presumably have to go in 2 of those 3 groups i shaded in the third picture

10:46 PM
let's rephrase: are there any dots the must be part of a T?

not to my current knowledge
i mean, the center dots, obviously, but there are 3 of those and 2 Ts

but does the upper-left center dot have to be a T?
and "must" means "cannot possibly be any other shape"

no

and how about the other two center dots? must they be Ts?

no

10:48 PM
answer is yes
extending any other center dot in any direction makes a T

but they don't have to be Ts, since there are three groups the Ts could go in, right?
oh, wait
oh
that was an extremely obvious deduction and i feel dumb

okay, so if the Ts go there can you fill any oceans in?

yes

and you are not dumb, you have tired brain

i don't know why i was thinking the top left could have had a T in it given that there was literally no way to not make Ts with the other two

10:52 PM
once you fill the oceans in, can you see any more deductions in upper left?

yes

do them

11:09 PM
I'm doing another common stim: rubbing the same lock of hair across my lips, and occasionally biting on it. The texture is so darn nice.

11:20 PM
I'm stuck again so I'm just gonna do some gaming for a while :p

okay :)
I submitted another college app!

msh210's C4 remains unsolved, it looks like
Ooh nice!

yep
there's something obvious we're all missing

Probably, there aren't that many four-letter words ending with S :p

Nope, this is asked by my math teacher. — Jingbo the dude 28 secs ago
someone just asked their math work on Puzzling

11:30 PM
I feel like that happens a lot

It happens enough we have a site-specific close reason for it.

Is it "homework question"?

> This question is off-topic as it appears to be a mathematics problem, as opposed to a mathematical puzzle. For more info, see "Are math-textbook-style problems on topic?" on meta.

Sounds about right

11:33 PM
iie

Yello

blue
what's new

'borg solved more Statue Parks

neato
the us basically has a new president

Oct 13 at 3:28, by bobble
please keep politics out of here?

11:36 PM
not politics; it's a fact
nothing political about the statement

yes, but it starts a discussion that is likely to edge into politics
and I'd like to not think about The Election while on Puzzling

i don't agree but that's fine
so
puzzles

It's a common anxiety source so let's avoid it

\x00
read the new hunger games book?

I never really got into that series, is there a new book?

11:42 PM
yep it's a prequel

prequel

about President Snow

i'm almost finished
no spoilers!
you read it bobble?

no, heard it wasn't good and I don't care much for the series anyhow

11:43 PM
hmmm
i'm loving it
i really hated it at first (before I read it)
but when i started reading it, i was blown away

I hit my vote limit!
(I wanted the badge, but there are never enough new things in a day for me to vote on, so I didn't vote for a few days and then voted all at once)

I've got 225/300 for the badge it looks like

which badge?

Civic Duty

I was aiming for Vox Populi

11:51 PM
Ahhh
Nice!

I was never going to earn it naturally, so I cheated a bit :)
