@Alconja prim or dial
@msh210 bingo!
Funny thing is, I figured all along it was likely "early" as the definition, and it was still hard. Nice clue.
Yeah. I think it's totally fair, and even a fairly straight forward construction, but I was worried some of the synonyms would make it a little difficult. (Victorian => prim is probably not that common, dial => ring is noun to verb, and even early => primordial is probably not the most obvious).
and thanks. :)

Culver KwanI am planning to ask a question which requires you to count the number of possible ways to arrange something with certain conditions. Are these on-topic?

@jafe um... yes. The intention was rank=spoiled=off, though.

Also I was debating using "Portland's" instead of "Jimmy's", but thought that'd be too hard. Whaddaya think?

Q: Is magic (as in tricks and performances) allowed in puzzling

William PennantiI am curious as to whether there is a magic SE community or whether this is the closest thing to it. I know that there was a Magic SE put forward in area 51 but it was closed. If some are allowed, what sorts and in what kind of context?
