Q: 100 Prisoners' Names in Boxes

Jaydles Names in Boxes The names of 100 prisoners are placed in 100 wooden boxes, one name to a box, and the boxes are lined up on a table in a room. One by one, the prisoners are led into the room; each may look in at most 50 boxes, but must leave the room exactly as he found it and is per...

Q: Reconstructing A Chess Game #2

EvargaloMy 5yo pupil, Magnus, is playing his first chess tournament. Although I missed his first game, @Elder helped me reconstruct this important first win from the few clues I could collect. Alas, the second round started when I was still reading @Elder useful answer on Puzzling.SE, and I missed the a...

CCCC: Pay close attention to ironclad vehicle turning (6)

11:13 AM
@EricTressler That's F(IXAT<)E

11:29 AM
@MOehm that's right
that took me much longer to write than it took you to solve

I can say the same about my last one. ...
CCCC: Political partners fuel ambition to get rid of centre minority in Chamber (9)

@MOehm Solution to your CCCC is COALITION: COAL + (AMBITION - chAMBer).

@GarethMcCaughan Yup.
@EricTressler See, you can do it even faster ...

I was actually about to get this one too; Gareth beat me by just a minute or two
but I like the surface of that one

Yes, it's a very nice surface.

11:38 AM
Thanks, both of you. I nearly botched it, though, by having the last part clue the outer letters of chamber.
(It's more usual for coalitions to want to get rid of extremists, after all.)
It takes me a lot of time to write the clues, even the so-so or outright bad ones. It starts with a nice idea, but then it doesn't quite work. I think that's when I should give up on the idea. Instead, I waste a lot of time trying to make it work. Hm.

yeah, same. i have a big file of notes for cryptics in progress, and most of them never make it

Q: Fairy Chess #1- The Mastermind

Excited Raichu(Fairy chess is a general term for any kind of chess variant with pieces that aren't used in the normal game) (Inspired by The Black Prowler (chess)) In this variant, white has their entire army against one black Mastermind. The Mastermind has the following special rules: It can start on an...

Q: Planning a round-the-world trip

jafe My friend is preparing for her upcoming round-the-world trip and is excitedly making lists of places she wants to visit. She sent me a list of her current top 20 destinations. Mostly I see what the names refer to, but there's one that seems ambiguous and I can't figure out where in the world i...

@Mithrandir Sorry, I still can't figure this out. :(
Do you think I could borrow a bot account for 5 minutes to see if it's an account problem or a code problem?

@Quintec Can you try sticking your entire thing on e.g. GH so I can try?

You... don't have a repo of your own for whatever bot you're working on?

I eventually will, but right now I'm just trying to figure out how to connect
And playing around

1:32 PM
yeah i don't know how to run it from that

You should be able to just save it as a python file and run from terminal / anywhere
The example file should be in your chatexchange download
Maybe you can run it from there?

I should just send you here:

 SOBotics

This room is dedicated to moderating content on Stack Overflow...

Okay, thanks. It seems the chatexchange code still tries to login with openid, though? Am I just reading it wrong

just the error message hasn't been updated

self._se_openid_login_with_fkey, no?
Or have the method names also not been updated

1:39 PM
you'd have to ask NobodyNada, I think

@MOehm This resonates a little too much. I think "it starts as a nice idea, but then it doesn't quite work" might be my personal puzzle making motto. :)

So maybe it's not such a bad thing after all ...

@Sconibulus About my puzzle - if it became boring and tedious, I am willing to accept your answer and just list all the rest :)

@GarethMcCaughan It's REGIMEN: EG in RI MEN. (Rhode Island is the eastern state and the other half of the denizens are the RI women.)

For instance is my favorite food

You can have fried eg's, scrambled eg's or eg's Benedict.

Q: A Battle of Dysfunctional Kings

PerpetualJSo recently I've learned about fairy chess and I've decided to write a puzzle based around the topic. Today's variation features a chess board which is missing eight squares (A1, A8, C3, C6, F3, F6, H1, and H8). The black squares are missing and thus pieces cannot move to these squares. The pa...

Q: The Last Man Standing (Chess)

PerpetualJAnother fairy chess style match; this is intended to be played with four people. Initially the game is a team based match, with white pieces being one team and black pieces being the other. The rules of team versus team are standard; however, as an example; if both players on team white checkmate...

Q: A Mysterious Number Grid

Excited RaichuOkay, it's time to step away from the tag that I may have accidentally revived. I'm here with an interesting number grid: I can't make anything out of it. What's worse, some of the numbers are missing, replaced with black squares. I'm told that one of the squares is wrong, and that the black s...

I'd be up for anything

That's a dangerous thing to say
What about late night dancing? :D

I'd be up for any of the four games we have chatrooms for

sure
what John said

That's a little more descriptive :)

7:51 PM
I'd be willing to watch late night dancing, too, unless it means I'd have to travel out of city.

hahahah
I guess I wasn't descriptive enough either :)

Q: The King and his Son (Chess)

PerpetualJThis is another fairy chess variation and is in the true spirit of Last Man Standing. The idea here is that there are $16$ players (starting as two teams of eight), each with a pawn and a king. The rules are simple: One piece cannot capture another of the same color until the opposing color is ...

Q: 100 using only 5 number of digits

Pet123I have a problem from Martin Gardner I can’t solve. Please help! For each digit $1\leq d\leq 9$, make 100 using exactly five number of $i$s. Any operation is allowed, brackets as well. For $i=1,2$ I have a solution: $$100=111-11$$ $$100=(2*2*2+2^2)$$ For the rest please help.
