Is 102A supposed to reference 146A instead of 147A?
> 148. High-ranking person in a company
:( No crossings for the middle letter

4:37 AM
yes, and crap, I meant to change that
hopefully it's disambiguated now? (I wanted to write "highest-ranking" originally, but that doesn't work for center-letter reasons)

Much clearer now yeah

52D technically has some TETCBN :P [/nitpicking]

yep, couldn't find a clue that wasn't TETCBN or horribly vague

Wow... How on earth did you know that those were the characters of a logo of some anime? I mean, there are like thousands of animes. :o
@Deusovi ^

They're kana, part of the Japanese script.
Kana (仮名) are syllabic Japanese scripts, a part of the Japanese writing system contrasted with the logographic Chinese characters known in Japan as kanji (漢字). There are three kana scripts: modern cursive hiragana (ひらがな); modern angular katakana (カタカナ); and the old syllabic use of kanji known as man'yōgana (万葉仮名) that was ancestral to both. Hentaigana (変体仮名, "variant kana") are historical variants of modern standard hiragana. In modern Japanese, hiragana and katakana have directly corresponding character sets (different sets of characters representing the same sounds). Katakana with a few additions...
とらドラ --> TO RA DO RA
(They're stylized slightly differently, though - for instance, the bottom left of the "to" is angled instead of curved. We were confused about that at first, but then we realized that the logo is stylized like that too.)

Sid
So... that puzzle had a crossword, japanese symbols, a perfectly sensible word when you read out a diagonal, and then, a pixelart of an anime character!

Yup.

Sid
That's incredible

I have got my semester exams tomorrow and I am still sitting and admiring that puzzle. That puzzle is out of this world. ffao should do a writeup so that I can award him a bounty for that

@Rubio Solution to your CCCC is TORTURE. We have -O-T-R- (leaders of Off The Record) coming in between T-R-U-E (absolute). I don't think I've seen "stopping" used to mean that before...

Oh, that's how it works: like a zipper. I thought about torture, too, but couldn't see how.
(Of course, everyone thinks about torture when tackling a Rubio C4, don't they?)

But I'm not sure we're better off with one from Gareth now. :>
