I think I found a game that might be interesting to make a game chatroom for
I also think a better title than quantum werewolf is waveform werewolf, because the game does not deal with quanta anymore than regular werewolf, and also it's alliterative.

3:26 AM
This room might as well be named "Schrödinger's chat." Soon as I blink (whether 40 days or winks) something happens.
(^ pretty sure that's meant as kitty cat, not infected cat)

if something always happens, doesn't that mean the waveform was already collapsed?

I'm still getting used to being localiszed in a heap)
@Destructible Lemon, if you understand quantum, want a thesis subject?

Better off that way.
Please suggest a video instead. Took a day to get the speakers geared back to where they annoy a neighbr.

also, the quantum werewolf thing may require a little too many onetimesecret links

3:36 AM
One never knows, do one?

actually yeah it won't just work with SE chat :/ dang

In a parallel universe it came out just as intended.
In this universe, anyone's guess is as good as a mile.
(In other words, I have no idea what you meant by that, and tried to return the favor.)

yeah so I think it wouldn't work with a public chat, even with quantum werewolf, without a fair amount of changes
like i guess it would be possible to make onetimesecrets for each player, every turn, but that seems like not such a great idea
maybe i'll make a client, like for spyfall?

Like a puzzle! Where each move is hidden.

yes. i'd still say that having it in SE chat is fine though, because there is a lot of discussion, just like werewolf

3:48 AM
If you can't make sense out of non here, there's no place for it.
Feeling political:
^ best cover band
^ with some excellent orignals as well!
(also covered)

yeah I'm gonna try my hand at making a github page i guess

@DestructibleLemon , (a few steps behind, here), are you saying that the werewolf page is yours?
Not bad!

In that case, cite a video.

I'm going to make a quantum werewolf client i guess. also maybe a regular werewolf client while I'm at it? i guess it wouldn't be too hard to add an additional option of regular werewolf to a quantum werewolf client

4:01 AM
Whencewolf?

whereforewolf

Quothththththendofthisentence.

actually now that i think about it, I have no clue where to start when it comes to making a synchronised client like the spyfall one

What's your aim? It's safe to say here because nobody pays attention.
And even if someone notices, nobody cares. And even if it matters, it don't.

i'd need to have an active connection, which I'm not actually sure how to do.
and also a server or something

4:09 AM
... yeah, without spam...
plenty of free rides otherwise

@boboquack hi

@boboquack, dear music lover, ever played a bassoon-clarinet duet on violin?

@humn no, unfortunately.
@EricTressler hi!

(been waiting to ask.. it's by Beethoven OoO looking-up. I've been humming it for a few days and keep thinking it's your speed.)

@boboquack it's been quiet in here today. I thought my C4 clue was simple, but now I'm starting to wonder if I'm abiding by cryptic rules. I only read the guide a couple of days ago

4:17 AM
(not my interpretation but you get the idea)
(when I play it on euphonium it careens through every guardrail)
(and after hearing a violin/viola version I've never been the same)
(The whats-is-name Beethoven missed his calling when he got caught up in symphony. There's another bassoon piece that I only have on paper.)
(Coming from someone honed on big-band jazz trombone.)

^ Thank you!

(because weebness is in vogue now)
You're welcome :)

4:36 AM
That piece attained the confusion constant.
In a very nice way.

This one's nice as well

4:53 AM
(checking it out, after telephone interruption)
OOOoo "not available in this country." Now I am even more determined.

wait what
Does this work?

indeed indeed makes me lift my heels.

Don't fly off too high or your earplugs will come off

Unplugged is apt.

"humn: unplugged" sounds like the title of something really awesome.

5:01 AM
It's so great to hear here. I tried as much at music.se and wound up telling them a thing or two.
Basically, I told them to come hear here.
Same at English.se. Some places just take themselves too seriously.

SEriously
But we are PSEudo-SErious

!
Here it's okay to be less than scrutable.
Survey question, a little late: Anyone here without speakers or functional ears? Just occurred to me that my loudmouthing might be in vain.
I don't have every faculty either, but those that function get stretched to absurdity.
And right now every stereo LED is bumping.

well i have functional speakers, but not much of a functional speaker myself :P
also for cccc I'm thinking something like ANCHORED
which would mean rigid like a price
and somewhat makes sense as a battleship purchase without the ed

music to my ears! lovely.
To spill a tense without "ed" tickles beyond description.

yeah i don't even know him
so sorry if ed's feeling excluded

Touche!
The more the merrier, and now you'll disavow knowing them too.

Sid
@humn no speakers here, humn. But I do have functional ears.

5:38 AM
So much to take for granted. I don't like yelling but more and more of those who lend me an ear are losing their hearing.
Signed - lucky to have hearing and lucky to have known some others long enough to have lost theirs.

Sid
@stacksfiller your troll clue has actually been made into a puzzle...

ooh funny
link?

Q: "Riddle-mining."

RobThis is a different kind of challenge. It won't be everyone's cup of tea. But I hope someone may have as much fun with it as i did! In the last couple of days, there was a comment made on Sphinx's Lair, to the effect that one could troll a cryptic clue; that is, make up a nonsense clue. (Th...

That seems too broad to me. There's not one specific answer or an objectively correct one - it's just whatever Rob sees and likes.

Sid
Yeah. Thought so, myself. But, it's amusing to see how a harmless discussion yesterday led to a puzzle...

5:46 AM
What was the answer to "Google is your friend"??

We never got that one either. Most people thought "peer" was the answer.
Oct 31 at 21:06, by Mike Q
Someone suggested PEER and I think that works pretty well.

Sid
Peer. Chris parsed Google as Go ogle and so, it became a ddef

I almost made a puppet to vote for that answer.
(Don't bother checking, I don't make puppets, just want to.)
(Much of what I do is by insinuation. Half the effort and twice the fun. When someone actually acts out I'm impressed.)
(Scientists have observed it: All anyone needs to say is "polka dots are plaid" and instantly everyone pictures it.)
(One of these days I'll brave a comment without parentheses.)

(Normal parenthesis is whispering)
)so this must be shouting!(

!

5:58 AM
}I'm a fish{

Reeling!
Oh, that wasn't so difficult after all.

@humn have you ever made any cryptic clues?
Having seen your casual tone, I can only imagine what cryptic would sound like :P

Still learning. But I have a diagramless crossword in the works.

Cool
I've had a puzzle "in the works" for a while
although not really working so much
as hoping it magically finishes itself

Is it visual? Verbal?

6:03 AM
verbal mostly
i have a title and meta and theme

What fun!
Care to spill?
Probably better not.

Yeah, I'll leave it a mystery
until it comes out
at which point it will be a mystery
until deusovi solves it in like 5 minutes
:P

Ain't that how it goes!

Come on, this puzzle isn't hard, it's just something I thought I'd like to share with everyone

Oh you doguack! When I visit here I neglect looking at actual posts.
So recursive!
Oh, darlinguack, 15 = 1/4 = quarter hour.

6:07 AM
Now you've got me thinking about guackamole

Don't forget, you're still on the hook to explain yournym.
Mine is just a sloppy second off of rat and hmmmm.

@stacksfiller :D
also, I definitely know the "hoping it magically finishes itself" feeling

When yousovi right, youare. Half of my mystique mystifies my... oh my...

whereas you sound like neither me nor you, but himn

@Deusovi have you done any of the final 5 metapuzzles since I last asked (I know it's only been a couple of weeks), and are you getting a testsolver in?

6:17 AM
I've finished one of them and have drafts for two more, and Sp3000 is currently testsolving for me.

(Back to parentheses, whenever anything works I'm caught by surprise. So here we are, let's solve world peace while at it.)

Might be better to call them mini-metas, though - the answers feeding into them aren't puzzles on their own (since there are nearly 300 of them, and me writing 300 cryptic clues would delay the puzzle even longer).
Just want to make sure you aren't under the impression that all 25+ of them are the size of, say, Sp3000's Piece of Cake. I'd say it's about 3-4 times the size of that in total.

@Deusob..., please give us a music video.
I'm so nosey to find out a little more about you.

Sid
@Deusovi ....each puzzle is 3-4 times the size of the whole of Sp3k's meta-puzzle? :o

And I'm infinitely openminded, as you know, so it's safe.

6:22 AM
@Sid No, the whole thing, not each one!
Hm, I don't watch many music videos.

Here's another (or perhaps the same) from me

user314678
@stacksfiller I'm not the originator of the puzzle, so I can't say what the original intended answer was. No longer have the printed puzzle, and no idea where it was from. I had thought CHUM, but I really do think PEER (GO OGLE) is the correct answer.

If you want to know about my musical tastes though, I really like chiptune music. Here's one of my favorite albums:

righton!

6:26 AM
(as a bonus, one of its best songs is called Only Human!)
(seems pretty fitting)

The neighbs are loving it! Me too.
The cat just ran out the door. Not me.
Diddley doo, I've done so many things with so many people but only here do I feel understood.

Sid
Oh, I hadn't noticed. Congrats @boboquack on 10k.

@Sid Thanks!

(Really, I go around understanding others like me along the margins, and here is the first place where the sentiment is reflected.)
O bo bo! Now you get to see all the deleted.

What interesting things are in store?

6:34 AM
There aren't very many interesting things among the deleted posts, to be honest. Lots of them are just junk.

Sid
@boboquack Try snooping around in meta. Surely, there are a lot of interesting things there...

Ah, @Deusovi, you have future regrets to look forward.

Oh, don't get me wrong, there are some interesting things there. But the bad outweigh the good (and that's by design, of course. After all, we do want interesting things to stay here as long as they're on-topic.)

You sweetie!
I've lived a (nalmost) century of hopes for a world where nothing is hidden and here it is.
It ain't bad.
Yeah, and still a spring chicken, everyone I know has come and gone, it just ain't fair.

Well, I'm definitely glad you're here (in every applicable sense of the word "here").

6:44 AM
And so glad to have met you along the way, @D!
Reach for the insulin, this is getting saccharine.
Wrinkled as I am, my pappy takes me out for unlimited walks in the hills. It just ain't fair.
And all the while is a stereo full of speedy music. Thank you, understated @Deusovi.

7:03 AM
@Deusovi should puzzling.stackexchange.com/questions/56654/… be protected? There's a lot of pencil answers

Just protected it, thanks for the heads-up!

@boboquack, I will vote for you next time moderators are elected. You have an overview.
(just saying . . .)
(And I've voted for everyone else too.)

user314678
@Deusovi No one really seems interested. The answer I got for "Fired back (misfiring) small weapon without any sound (5)." was RAGED. Small weapon=GRENADE. "Any sound=N.E.". So GRENADE-NE=GRADE. "Misfiring (anagram)" leaders to RAGED, WHICH COULD BE ACCEPTABLE FOR "Fired back."

user314678
whoops. Sorry for the all caps.

Sid
@Rob That was a pretty good try

7:07 AM
Well, you've changed the clue significantly there.

user314678
by adding "misfiring?"

Yeah.
Anagrams give you a lot of room to work with. (That's why indirect anagrams are so frowned upon.)

user314678
As I said, I was curious if someone could get an answer without changing it. I feel as though I came awfully close.

Other than that addition, though, it works surprisingly well. Not perfect -- I'd probably be a bit miffed if someone were to clue "raged" as "fired back" -- but pretty good considering it was made to sound cryptic but not actually be cryptic.

still pretty good for a plate of spaghetti

7:09 AM
I was about to mention that exact same thing!

Prepared specially for you all:

tasty!

(Does this need attribution?)

Sid
(Why do you need a knife for something that looks like noodles?)

I want sloppy seconds.
Supper's ready.

7:16 AM
@Sid there's a spoon, but it got cropped out because there wasn't another subtracted letter

ANGER + NE = GRENANE....?
I think you could use some D-sert

whoops

yummy yum yuck

Which high-rep users have got Peer Pressure?

Ever had a -1000 day?

(interestingly, Gareth's auto-selected next badge is Excavator)

@humn a what

@humn s'pose you have, being so generous with bountying

It was the most recent time that @gamow got gunched.

7:26 AM
biggest thing I've found for you is a -205, @humn
A year and 3 days to the date

Okay, to be honest, think it was -850, but who knows what shows up.
And not that I care.0000000000

user314678
@stacksfiller ???

Here's one that might as well not be a post: Would you rather be wrong.00000 or ~correct?

user314678
@deusovi Rev 11:18 ESV (and others, for "raged") "The nations have raged in anger . . ."

"rage" is within "anger"

BUSH is both a synonym of SHRUB and a transdeletion of it (an anagram, minus one letter).

I've only been able to find two other pairs like this: PROWESS - POWERS, and ANGER -- RAGE.

it was a little bit frightening, with expert timing
uh!
@Rubio, that was for you.
Admittedly, I can pour compulsively-crafted puzzles (that few understand) or impulsively-typed nonsense (that are understood as nothing more). And either way seems to be understood.
Yucko, the only way to erase an outburst here is to obliterate it with awkward swath.

@Deusovi ENRAGE -- ANGER
Unless, of course, you were just going for nouns.

Sid
Also, anyone willing to do a community meta-puzzle part 2?

7:16 PM
@RosieF Ooh, that's a good one.

7:31 PM
@Sid I'd be willing, might get me out of my puzzle rut

I've got a really old meta idea that I'd be willing to dig up for one if there's enough interest.
It has 9 feeder answers, though, and can't really be changed easily.

@Sid I might be interested.

Q: The Moral of the story

SidSo, I was just preparing some cryptic clues because I was bored. I wanted to separate a few of these from the others so that there would be a nice final answer. However, they have all got mixed up. Your task is to separate out the Cryptic clues, get two answers from it(because meta-cryptics!) and...

9:09 PM
@Sid o/

Solved the bottom two within a couple of minutes, but stuck on the rest

@Doorknob hi

hello

what's new

not much, what about you?

I have been looking for someone who is willing to let me spoil the CCCC for them to make sure I'm following the rules (I don't want it to stay up for 3+ days if it's not even a valid cryptic clue)

it's not like I have a chance at solving it anyway, go for it :P
you can send it to the email address on my profile

11:32 PM
thanks

@Doorknob Thanks, I agree. Can I modify the CCCC? Does anyone here have the power to unstar that and replace it?

if you repost it I can pin the new one for you

CCCC: Battleship is non-negotiable (8)

so I haven't solved a cccc before but I might try this one i guess
what if battleship is battles hip? that's about all i can think of
