do it
haha
HoldTheDoor.Hodor
HAH.
Code Example 1 on the hodor site uses THE PROPER braces style :)
It's a joke language. It's allowed to do things wrong. ;) - Right, @Deu? hahaha
hehe
I'm reconsidering the wisdom of admitting to doing anything at all similar to people who wrote a language comprised mostly of the word 'hodor'.

Q: Chat flag notification, but no flag

MegoIt appears this bug is back. Upon refreshing any chat page (even when dumping the cache and hard reloading), a chat flag notification is displayed, but there is no chat flag.

Nevermind, nothing to see here, move along.
That's gonna get starred to death, Rubio haha
nope, too late
Someone ninja'd me
Darn. Almost made it fit without truncation
18:04
I was wondering if that was what you were doing, haha.
remove 'at all'
Nah. the next edit would be "I find myself" to "I'm"
but it's past the window. @Deusovi will have to do it for me. (Pweease?)
or 'the word
If someone flags something the bug might go away :P
18:05
Alright
So tempting, but I resisted, Mith
@Mithrandir and clicking it doesn't make it go away, i assume?
It goes away
But then comes back
"Just click the button and it'll all go away..."
18:06
The bug is that it's showing when there aren't any flags
I love when it literally pops up with a 0 down there
There are a couple of suggested edits now pending for users with the tag edit privileges. Would people kindly review those?
relaod
Perhaps there was a flag that's already been responded to? No idea, though, if it auto-updates, normally, in that case.
I don't see anything, BG
If you have 10k network wide, reload the page
you'll see a flag
18:08
Do you have the tag edit priveledges?
@Mithrandir no flag for me
@Mithrandir nor I
Hm. I reloaded and had one. Clicked it, it said "none", and went away.
18:08
every single time I reload
On here and Charcoal
@Khale_Kitha. Oh. Maybe it will take a while to load
If you give me 1300 rep I'll review them :P
I actually didn't start getting that in chat until well after hitting 10k :|
I only realized that I never took off my hats now :P
@BeastlyGerbil It's because the UI isn't properly showing the section to review edits.
I went to the page, manually, and I see them
Every time I reload...
@Khale_Kitha seems mine haven't loaded though....
Yeah, it's odd
18:11
oh no there it is. You just reviewed it
When I'm on the review edits page, I see....
I can see everyones edits :P
But from the review page, it's just..
Heh heh
Okay I just got a valid chat flag @Mithrandir
18:12
I fixed the bug :P
Having to manually go there before the number even showed, at the top of the page for the queue
??????
@BeastlyGerbil Did you click valid? :P
18:12
5 mins ago, by Will
I love when it literally pops up with a 0 down there
Good
I flagged it
To see if the bug would stop
Deu needs to post that image, so it can be a hall of mirrors :P
18:14
hehe
Odd that there's no approve and edit button for those..
what the tag ones?

Q: Allow 'improve' for Tag Wiki Edit Suggestions

Lance RobertsI've been approving or rejecting Tag Wiki Excerpt Edit Suggestions, but some of them are close and I'd like to just tweak them. We can improve regular edit suggestions, how about giving us an Improve button for Tag Wiki Edit Suggestions. Note: If I click on the tag wiki excerpt link, then it ta...

you need 20k rep
@BeastlyGerbil Wrong one I thinl
18:17
Ah, okay
yeah forget the first link
Those two tags are so close, I just wonder if the 2nd should reference the first, in some way.
It almost seems that they could be consolidated.
They are quite different games
As are chess and checkers, but we have the chessboard tag
And a tag...
Which is different...
18:20
We only have two questions at the moment so I don't think there is any point even discussing merging
yeah
both chessboard and checkerboard are tags
they're synonyms
I tried posting a re-run FTC idea. It's stuck at a score of 3...

A: What should the subjects of our fortnightly topic challenges be? (with updates!)

Mithrandirsteganography re-run! The first one was back in June, when I didn't really understand this or have much experience creating puzzles. I would like to re-propose this tag for all the people who didn't have a chance last time.

checkerboards are often red and black
18:25
The tags are synonyms.
Go people! Go vote wordplay for the next fortnightly topic challenge!
Vote for !
Sorry, already voted stego :P
(Actually, I won't mind . It's a good idea, I upvoted it.)
Thanks :P I upvoted rebus even though I want mine to win. I do still want to see in a couple of weeks though
18:28
A little chat link and the answer jumps to 7th place :P
Somebody find 17 Meta Stack Exchange questions for me to vote on, quick!
just go to highest voted :P
Hmm...
I wonder if the same thing would happen if I linked a real site answer...
I need 30 more lifehacks points, so...

A: How to clean mirror without leaving paper towel specks behind

MithrandirJust use a regular cloth, such as a towel or even a T-shirt. Rub on the spot that needs attention (I do it in circles), and soon your spots wll disappear.

Oops - forgot you had to do things special to add text formatting in a code block ><
18:34
All my rep from the last few days have been from tag edits :P
Nope, didn't work...
I'm going for rep cap from tag edits! :P
Many regular cloths have the same issue, though =D
I repcapped on suggested edits
Sep 14
well nearly all your rep came from it
18:36
@Khale_Kitha You just have the wrong cloth :P
True but a 'regular cloth' is nonspecific.
I declared that I would repcap from edits so someone went and upvoted my stuff

Q: Dream of omniscience

MelkorDave is having a dream. In his dream he is walking happily along a street when he comes to a mysterious door. He tries to simply open the door, but it is locked. It is his dream and he can do whatever he imagines right? Wrong, this door will not open; he tries explosives, chainsaws, lockpicks,...

Fastforward to February: "Is anyone going to solve Gareth's CCCC?"
That mysterious door :'P
18:40
d'oh! Magically disappearing answer!
damn I thought i had a good answer there
The other issue was that he drew something in the air, but I wasn't sure if that could be reinterpreted.
I just saw that I couldn't tell you
oops
I wonder if he drew a ? in the air.
Heh. I got two Necromancer badges on Meta... for the same question :P
18:42
lol
There should be a badge for that
@Khale_Kitha Thanks! I thought it was better than plainly writing "use anagrams"
I actually didn't think to image search her until AFTER I saw the answer though, sadly.
By the way, it's a boy...
At least you didn't do something stupid like use the phrase "and a gram" in your puzzle. It took a month for someone to get that.
I'm still learning. So I hope I don't do any stupid mistakes at all!
18:45
@incesterror21 is MOehm really close to solving your puzzle?
@BeastlyGerbil Yes, they are.
Is it just a simple matter of anagramming the final part?
And is it a well know name? Like a famous french woman?
It's as simple as that, correct. Although the part where a female name is needed is already gone.
I didn't expect people to pay so much attention to the title. It was meant as a hint to confirm the translation of the hex numbers.
Oh ok. Is the person real or not?
....I really should continue my Catacombs of Cryptos series, one of these days...
18:49
Look for a phrase/set of words that suits as an ending
ohhh
MOehm did 9/10 to be done I think
Thanks! I feel like I have grilled you enough now, I shall see if I can solve it
See, now look what you did, BG
You caused Will to go "ohhh", which means the puzzle's solved.
18:51
Let's wait and see what he got!
@Will have you solved it?
Or are we pointlessly speculating? :P
I know what to do!
Go on then you hamster-pup! :P
Oh I meant to tell you, the other day, Will.
Yes, some people do read these things.
18:54
Anyone else think this is too broad?

@Khale_Kitha @Mithrandir Mentioned that a while ago. Guess it's a good thing I didn't use it to overshare. :)
It feels like he has a specific answer in mind, but I'm unsure if the puzzle is specific enough to designate it, yet.
18:55
Although I can't think of a solution
Do we know the solution?
It feels like the answer is going to be a pun.
no humour tag
Maybe the "key" to this is that Dave is showing his middle finger
The wizard gets angry and opens the door to attack Dave.
@BeastlyGerbil Relatively new user
There's a similar joke, like this, from the riddler.
The answer being: "a riddle"
But the [s]joke[/s] riddle is slightly different
..I don't remember how to do that, in chat.
18:57
You can't.
I've seen rand do it.
Someone found out how
Oh, really? I must be thinking of comments.
~~Like this, maybe?~~
Can't remember
18:58
<strike> test</strike>
Nope. That's the syntax I've seen used in other places, but apparently not here.
I figured it out in puzzles, etc - checking transcript.
anyways gtg, see you all later
strikethrough oh right
humn actually figured it out
in Puzzles Etc., May 18 '16 at 19:09, by humn
K_K: three - dashes at each end - - - without spaces - - -
I suppose I should share...
Now @Deu needs to go edit Rubio's starred message to change 'THE PROPER' to use strikeout. Heheheh
(j/k)
I'm laughing - these two puzzles were listed, in order, in the puzzle list...
What does my girlfriend want me to buy for her?
Dream of omniscience
Nice catch!
19:51
@Will Well done. You seem not happy?
@incesterror21 HAHA I'm watching something & you pinged me at the exact same moment a bell dinged.
& It's just... I don't really see a riddle
Ding! Fries are done..
Can't the anagram be seen as a riddle?
...No, how is an anagram a riddle?
19:53
I'm never sure. People here seem to use the terms "riddle", "puzzle" and "cryptic clues"
Hm? What about those terms?
A puzzle is the most general category.
I don't know which one to use
A riddle is a list of statements about an object, usually poetic and involving metaphor, where the goal is to identify the object.
A cryptic clue is a type of crossword clue common in the UK involving misleading wordplay.
Like CCCC ?
So a one line anagram is an anagram. Nothing more.
@incesterror21 CCCC stands for "chat cryptic clue chain" - it's a little game involving cryptic clues that we play in here sometimes.
19:56
I think the point being that the puzzle asks a question - which is in line with a riddle - but the answer doesn't answer the question.
So there's a disconnect, causing it to lose the effect of being a riddle.
Sometimes? You must mean all the time, it just has slow moments :P
I see. As I said, I didn't expect people to take titles so seriously.
Well, I mean sometimes we don't really pay attention to it.
like right now?
Titles are the hardest part, imo, ie21, because I can never decide how much emphasis solvers will put on it when attempting to use it as a clue.
19:59
So the title is either a real hint or not useful at all.
Oh, and people will look to your username, your profile, and even your icon for clues, at times - so keep that in mind. (But please don't make a puzzle that 'REQUIRES' that info to solve it.)
Generally speaking, yes.
Or a general description of the puzzle's aspect.
