Q: Use 12 unit length matchsticks to enclose a region whose area is 4 square units

Will Octagon GibsonI do not know the original source of this problem; I have seen it a few places. The solution that I have seen is not pretty in the sense that it lacks symmetry. Can you find an elegant solution? Of course, elegance is subjective.

CCCC hint: the first letter is T.

Aha, @Ankoganit it's TIMETABLE (program) = TIM (Tim Cook, and I assume you're referring to the current CEO of Apple) + ABLE (qualified) to host ET (a (certain) movie). Thx for the assist on ET, @Jafe . :0

Oh. Very nice.

we can assume it's like hockey where two players can get the assist

9:15 AM
Ah that's true

ET for film/movie is so common, that barely counts as assist. But thanks, of course.

9:31 AM
@oAlt That's FUSILLI = ((stomach')S + FULL + I)* + I

Q: T9 Crossword Puzzle

sarsaparillaThis puzzle is part of the Monthly Topic Challenge #4: Cross-*non*-words Anybody remember T9? Before fancy on-screen keyboards became commonplace, T9 was the state-of-the-art input method if you were limited to a 3x4 keypad. It was way better than multi-tap and it even had some predictive powers...

"The" in the C4 is stymieing me. The way I figure, likely one of the following is true. 1. "The" is a metal song title, and "The metal band" is its band. (But I can't seem to find such a song.) 2. "Theā€¦ satellite" refers to the name of some specific band surrounding some specific satellite. (But I can't seem to find such.) 3. "The" is being used for its letter(s) somehow. (But the nearest indicator I see is "south", and ELDGEH doesn't look promising.)

@msh210 C4 Hint: The 'the' is probably superfluous but at the time writing I thought it helped the surface
