@Rubio It's not only a technicality but also precedent: historically we've allowed lots of questions like that. Just as we allow, for example, simple riddles where the answer is obvious. They might be worthy of downvoting, but not off-topic.
I think the reason for declaring simple maths problems (specifically) off-topic is that we were getting inundated with them back then.

Q: How many codes are possible?

Matti The line - codes we are looking at consist of black and red lines. These lines can have width 1 or 2. Black and red lines are taking turns, black line, red line, black line, ... The code ends and begins with a black line (width 1 or 2). The width of the full code is 14. Question: How man...

Q: Perfect Powered Relations - Please Figure them out

Uvc$D$, $E$, $F$, $G$, $H$, $S$, $T$, $U$, $V$ are distinct digits and can vary from 0 to 9. $DE$, $FGH$, $ESDE$, $SS$, $ST$, $SU$ are all concatenated Numbers. From the given Relations below, deduce all the digits easily. $DE$ = $S^T$ + $T^T$ $FGH$ = $S^T$ + $T^T$ + $U^T$ + $T^T$ $ESDE$ = $S^T...

Hi chat! Random question: any recent nice puzzle games out there (let's say 2018 onward) similar to inside, witness, q.u.b.e etc?

12:49 PM
Games like those are few and far between I'm afraid. There are plenty of new 2d puzzlers but they aren't atmospheric like the games on your list

@Adam indeed, oh I dont mind them not being atmospheric
e.g. I loved Recursed!

1:08 PM
@user929304 Then how about Tomorrow Corporation games?

1:20 PM
@Adam sweet suggestion! hadn't heard of it yet

2:03 PM
@Rubio Yup! (My apologies for the inelegant proper noun in there.)

2:39 PM
@GarethMcCaughan I was more bothered by “ensues” - the proper noun didn’t faze me
CCCC: Lose about £500 after Russian starts to wash hands and eat breakfast? (8, 5)

3:20 PM
Interesting. To me, "ensues" seems obviously fine even though it comes after the def.

@user929304 I'd also recommend Baba Is You! It's a pretty interesting (and fairly recent) puzzle game.
yeah, American cryptics generally only allow connectors telling the relationship between the two parts of the clue in between the wordplay and def (e.g. "[wp] producing [def]") -- British cryptics more frequently allow constructions like yours there, I think (where extraneous material indicating the relationship can go on either side of the definition, or both)

I think that is the first time I’d seen that. It didn’t annoy so much as confuse :)

Q: Do sudoku answers always have a single minimal clue set?

agcSuppose we have a solved sudoku, and started from a minimal set of clues with a unique solution, i.e. 17+ numbers in specific locations, which we'll call set1. Is there a set2, (or set3, etc.), with few or no elements in common with set1? Put another way, suppose you have Monday and Tuesday pap...

I don't think it's needed but in an abundance of caution I've added a ? to the C4 - someone can tell me later if it's superfluous.
