@Deusovi Yes. VLQ flagged and commented accordingly. I’m a little surprised that @Randal'Thor answered it. I think it should be closed.

I answered it because I didn't think it was maths as such. We've allowed very simple logic puzzles before.
(no time for a discussion now, or even to find a list of links to justify that last sentence - just dropped in to justify myself)

It was a little too transparent for a logic puzzle imo. The question felt like it could've been made by anyone in 2 minutes without much effort

@Sphinx This is rather on the borderline between puzzle and maths exercise. Personally I think it's just about OK and have answered it, but I would encourage others to take a look and see if they disagree.

@Randal'Thor I realize the close reason and much of the text of the related local Meta q&a refer to math problems, but when all the reasoning follows directly for other types of problems that aren’t strictly math but are still, in the words of the meta question, “problems in that style”, we shouldn’t feel bound to accept them on a technicality.
I firmly believe that problems of any type that “use standard, straightforward methods {... and ...} test comprehension of the material, not ingenuity” should land quite squarely in off-topic territory.

11:16 PM
@Sphinx contrast this. While distinctly mathsy, it doesn’t spell out the problem so plainly that there is nothing left to interpret or deduce. It’s solvable whether you know the math method or not (of course, knowing about derangements and how they apply here trivializes solving the problem, but that knowledge itself requires not necessarily commonplace knowledge and insight, so the overall solution is still not really trivial and straightforward).
I’ll agree it’s got a really good view of the border from where it stands, but I think the latter question is at least on the right side of the line.
