Q: Bored with the Internet

QuantumTwinkieAn entry in Fortnightly Topic Challenge #35: Restricted Title 1. You, yeah you! Are you bored with the internet? Well here are some science/math themed jokes for you! What is the angriest(not negative) process/operation in math? What bad grade did larry receive in is programming class...

@Randal'Thor Karma!
@EricTressler pff, most cryptic clues do sound like that

Can I get a pin?
Thanks :)

@EricTressler Why do anarchists drink herbal tea? Because proper tea is theft.
Oh, a pin. Thought that was a typo.
(I'll show myself out.)

The pun isn't that bad

12:25 AM

Q: Which four letters?

dram I'm supposed to remember, but I'll quickly forget. Removing the first letter doesn't change much, but you get an animal. The first two letters are admirable; the last two are old-school tunes. Take away third letter, and the two will be miss each other. Once you've got me, you'll notice me hidde...

CCCC: Alone, so forms neighbour on either side?? (7)

oh no, a double question mark

Calling the first question mark into question
I trust the second question mark, but I have serious doubts about the veracity of the first question mark.

2:45 AM
if it was ??? id think pokemon

I just looked up "double question mark" and apparently that's the "null coalescing operator" in C#. Didn't know there was such a thing.
By the way, for anyone following my Barrel series, I've thought of an idea for Part 4. Will probably release it tomorrow.

Q: Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV)

DragonrageAn entry in Fortnightly Topic Challenge #35: Restricted Title 1. XKCD 437. Special thanks to Deusovi for checking to see if my clues were valid. Searcher for former myth in Puerto Rico. 5:55 AM
@Sphinx unfortunately not a valid FTC entry, since SUV is the title not sports utility vehicles

@phenomist SUV is only 3 characters, 15 characters is the minimum for titles
and suv stands for sports utility vehicle

"Pick any of the 297 remaining titles and use it as-is (preserving case, part numbers, parenthesised words, etc.) — this will be the title of your new puzzle."

As the one who posted the challenge idea, the reason for filtering to titles with length ≥ 15 wasn't actually due to technical limitations -- I'd been planning on filtering out short titles anyway since longer titles are more interesting/restrictive. Also, I posted the whole list to make it clear what titles were to be used, so at the very least I'd say it goes against the spirit of the challenge (sorry).

@Dragonrage well, it's not one of the "297 remaining titles" listed there
@Sid I've looked at it. Had no luck.

Sid
Hmm. I thought it would be easy once they get the names and the title..
(Shows that I obviously can't judge difficulty level)

don't worry, nobody can (which is why more formal events demand testsolving)

yup. judging difficulty is hard

(at least for posting puzzles to PSE, you can automatically nerf puzzle difficulty through guided hints)

8:16 AM
Hello
Ugh I can't sleep
Maybe cuz I'm on my phone lol
Long time no see

Hey, welcome back!
(yes, that might be it. I would advise getting off your phone, but that would be hypocritical of me because I'm constantly on mine when I should probably be sleeping)

Lol
Man I've been so busy lately
Damn finals
On the otherhand, I'll be graduating (middle school whoopdy doo) on Monday
I'm not getting any ideas for new puzzles tho
Oh, I see that fortnightly challenges are back. They seem pretty lit

@Randal'Thor you can't anyway, can you? does pin+unpin+star lead to star+star?

Sid
@North Oh. Congrats!

@EriktheOutgolfer No, he meant he didn't star it with his main and sock accounts.

Q: Next number in this sequence?

BAYMAXI was trying this 3,9,18,______,648 What is the missing number? Any hints? I am given options as 1. 27 2. 324. 3. 54. 4. 108. I thought of adding the digits and then see a pattern like except 3 all the digits of the numbers add to 9, but that is for all the numbers given in the options.

Sid
@BAYMAX I guess you could think of this as squaring and then doubling.
So, squaring 3, you get 9. Doubling 9, you get 18. Squaring 18, you get 324. Multiplying by 2, you get 648

9:44 AM
Yup thanks, i asked the question in main too😊

10:22 AM
imho, "find the missing number" puzzles are too broad
