Call to arms: micsthepick is mastering in zendo
Seriously though, I need just one more player to continue

@PuzzlePrime third one is doll+arrow+boat-rowboat=dollar and fowl-owl+orange-range+urchin-chin=four.
next has nest+one-stone+wheel-heel+ark=Newark, but i cant figure out what the second item in the second puzzle on that page is.
next but one is scoop-coop+nail=snail and fowl-owl+ox=fox.
next is Turk and Canadian (I think the former is really weak because it begins with turkey, and I'm pretty sure the turkey is actually named for Turkey).

1:08 AM
I always found that bird's name to be really funny
It's named turkey in English because they believed it came from Turkey, it's named peru in Portuguese because they believed it came from Peru, and it's named "~indian" in Turkey because they believed it came from India
and they're all wrong

a few further on slot+harrow-arrow=sloth and ferrule-rule+vine+garret-vinegar=ferret.
And yes, the name of the turkey are ludicrous.
*names
then we have colors+nail-snail+adobe+drug-bed-rug=Colorado.
Last one is certainly Patrick Henry, but while I understand patch+urn-churn+Rick just fine, all I'm confident of with the surname is that we begin with "hen". Probably.
And I'll leave it there.

Thank you @GarethMcCaughan, this was very helpful (and fast). Saved me a couple of hours at least!

@GarethMcCaughan you called? :)
@PuzzlePrime which ones remain unsolved? Numbering, lettering, or titling them would certainly be useful.

@Avigrail Before putting the question on main page I always ask it first in the chatroom
Besides, I don't have Puzzling account

@Anastasiya-Romanova秀 it's around two clicks to create one
@Anastasiya-Romanova秀 that's not always appreciated by the room regulars. If you're checking if it's an acceptable question for the main site, fine; but I wouldn't post every question in chat first
@Rubio - have they given up or have you guys just been getting to them faster than me?

@Mithrandir There are reasons why I did this. Who knows that my question turns out it has been posted

Q: How to solve a Vigenère cipher?

TasThis is not a puzzle, this is an actual question Recently I tried to solve a puzzle, which I was certain used a Vigenere cipher. I'd never heard of it before the puzzle, so I went straight to the Guide, and later to Wikipedia. I understand a Vigenere cipher has 3 parts: the plain text, the key ...

LaskaWhat everyday object is $2^{(-7/4)}$ metres long? Note there may be some cultural dependence here but it’s still pretty cool.

@Mithrandir what was this question relating to?

@Rubio spammers

They have slowed some, and others ave also been reporting them now too

I would say codenames was far more active. And gave rise to so many comical(Hair tearing, chest beating, heart-stopping) moments, it's sort of sad it has almost completely died down

9:21 AM
@Mithrandir I mean, there haven't been any interesting boxing matches or NFL games on as far as I am aware

BlairOTAYCAEVDREJUSGJXTTRWBAGFLVQEBHJNFCQOUJOHNRBARAOTJDHWPAUIURNZ It's for a treasure hunt I'm doing but I've been stuck on it for days now. It might be a running cipher maybe but I'm having not much luck. Thanks

CCCC: MACABRE (terrible) = MACE (weapon) around (broken by) sABRe (disarmed Englishman's weapon)
@Rubio ^

dun dun dunnnn

Not sure why a sabre is particularly English, though...

Never mind.

@GentlePurpleRain that's the UK spelling. (And, not that it matters, but - English soldiers did in fact use sabres some time back)

5:12 PM
Just figured that out. Didn't click because that's how I always spell sabre. "Saber" just looks weird.
@Rubio I don't doubt they used sabres, but I would think of it more as a Mongol weapon than an English one. But moot, because it's just the spelling that's relevant.

Q: How many words can you list containing cious?

loladHow many words can you list containing cious? Rules: 1) containing: it could be inside the word, it doesn't have to be at the end (if such word exists) 2) You can scribble down all the easy ones you know if you like or start from hard as well. 3) Try not to cheat 4) Good luck! 5) Rule 4 is n...

@Rubio yeah, there's no way that's a puzzle
also, nicely solved, GPR

yeah, that turned out to be a lot harder than I realized
I probably should have gone with "dreadful" from the start

I think a sabre is mainly a cavalryman's weapon, English or not.
But well done on solving that one.

@Sphinx I hope to make them conscious of the fact that precious few people would consider that a puzzle. I don't mean to be vicious, that's just the truth. It's not an auspicious sign if our site starts voraciously attracting bad or malicious posts - but I wouldn't start getting suspicious yet.
Sorry, I had to.

5:29 PM
@Rubio I'm surprised that this is still open.
@Mithrandir I see what you did there ...

I'm actually ok with that one, surprisingly. It has a qualitatively right answer - one that'd be demonstrably better than any other - which is at least a modicum of defense against the otherwise too-broad nature it has on its face.
Whether it's actually a puzzle I will let others debate. I think it's a riddle, though just barely, so not off topic on those grounds.

Do it now. No rush. We can survive without a CCCC for a little while...

even with the dreadful hint I was nowhere close to thinking of macabre, but it does look a lot easier to backsolve that one
thanks for changing the C4, GPR :P

Q: How does this happen? User with more rep gained than total rep

Jason VI just happened to look at the leaderboards today as i was bored, but i noticed this strange happening... How does a user have more rep gained for the timeframe than total rep?

5:43 PM
^ good question, actually.

May be something to do with the recently deleted posts?

That user has deleted a number of posts, so something either counts their rep as gained even though it's no longer there, or something is cached
(or both)

That comment is unnecessary though

well, I was this whole time trying to decide how to get ween
and it never occurred to me to just get ween from ween

yup, that was what I was looking for too, but i'd never heard that word before

I hope nobody's going to defend ween anytime soon

@Apep yes that's it
"then" isn't a particularly good connector, hence my earlier apology :)

A person can undelete their own post deleted by review? What's the point of the LQP review queue then?

9:51 PM
I assume to let the user know why it was deleted and trust that they will correct the issue before undeleting.

@boboquack I don't think that's true, is it?

see items 3 and 4 from the top

hm.
Normally, if your deleted post is not self-deleted, you can't undelete it yourself (though you may be able to vote to undelete). An exception: if an answer is deleted from Low Quality review queue by "Recommend Deletion" votes, without three trusted users voting to delete, then it can be undeleted by the author. (from meta.stackexchange.com/questions/5221/…)
Moderator deletions are binding as well
so TIL. :)
