3:00 PM
How about that?

Heyyyy @Rubio nice! The puzzle is still far from solved, though.

Not sure what to do with EE from part 1

Where'd you guys get EE from?

the two hearts of part 1?
"Take my heart twice, and you'll only just see the other half of me."

@Rubio Nice!

3:01 PM
seems like it should be relevant somehow? EE

But well, I am not sure how 1st part leads to second.. Both can be solved independently.

The first part doesn't lead to the second part
I wanted it to be about the Doctor from the moment I saw the title, btw :)

Hmm.. first part of first riddle gives second part of first riddle..
Remember there is a cipher tag :)
Hope we are not going to get any gibberish out ;)

heh. that was weird.
my rep says +7 for that answer. I'm like, uh, I got downvoted?!
then I realized I'm capped hehe

Lol :p

3:05 PM
Oops sorry my internet just died
Also @Rubio the normal definition of doctor works for the riddle in part 2
A doctor is only helpful if you need surgery etc.

Yeah I know. I wrote the answer more or less with that in mind

A doctor could literally touch your heart during surgery
and obviously not in a romantic way

but wanted to make sure both interpretations are visible ;)

Yup :)

I said surgery earlier :P

3:07 PM
Anyhow the hard half of the puzzle is happening now
The riddles are over
Alllll information is important
And now you should be wondering what on earth is going on with my tags

WACKY? :p

What on earth is going on with your tags?

Without your input, that would have been a very hard puzzle

ok so

@Rubio He say, there is "WAY" in a word.. With more 2 letters in between
I just get WACKY out of it

3:11 PM
I suspect that for part one we're supposed to come up with three endings for "key", for example, keyboard
but the other clues there are before key (minor key; map key)

@IamInPls, this is my first riddle related puzzle, can I have your honest feedback on the riddle parts?

16 mins ago, by Mithrandir
The second half is something about like surgery or something, and the 'way' is part of the word, with there being two other letters in the middle?

the second riddle was pretty easy, actually. I got it without reading anything that was going on in here
the first one, I don't think was particularly accessible without the Word of OP to help

this ^

ACtually, the first one was pretty easy.
The second is obvious afterwards.

3:13 PM
(Well, ok, for a music person it would be accessible)

I was hoping the riddles would be fairly accessible... I might have mis gauged the difficulty?

Well, a click was needed for the first part in my opinion

But they were nicely created - not too easy, but not too hard.

I had assumed major/minor keys were fairly well known even for non-musos, but this experience has shown otherwise!

Yes, it's still two good riddles
I'll wait for the final answer :-)

3:15 PM
You may want to format this so the part 1 riddle and the part 2 riddle are offset from the non-riddle text that follows each

Anyhow, you guys are sort of on the right track for the next part of the puzzle. Read the wordings of everything very carefully, though. Very little text in this riddle is filler.

Downvoted to the abyss

@TheGreatEscaper Well known and in mind are two different things :)

Well, moving onto final part...

3:16 PM
@IAmInPLS You know, if all those people upvoted my answer I might get a gold badge out of it.

Heh, fair enough.

So, may be there is a key we need to find to decipher DOCTOR? :p

we need to find the 3 endings
of the first section

@Rubio read that sentence very carefully
The one about endings

@Rubio Hehe the famous reversal!

3:18 PM
So, I'm not clear here if "I" is the part one riddle subject, or is the puzzle subject
hence this: You may want to format this so the part 1 riddle and the part 2 riddle are offset from the non-riddle text that follows each

I is still the riddle subject... But that's not the important part of the sentence

cuz I assume they're not the same subjects, but I'm not sure, and the formatting doesn't disambiguate.

@Rubio its hard to explain my formatting decisions without spoiling stuff

ok fair enough. So we know what the subject is

I think may be we have the ending as KEY..

3:20 PM
I doubt it

Yup @Rubio, that's the first part of the sentence.

The key is asking us for three endings

What else does the sentence say

well, ok

_If you know what I am, then I'll ask you this, three endings you should see.
Take my heart twice, and you'll only just see the other half of me._

3:21 PM
the key is telling us we should see 3 endiings

Rubio are you sure you're not leaving out important information?

and telling us to take its heart twice to see (just) its other half

:) I'm very proud of these two lines
My favourite two lines of the riddle. Everything is important.
*of the puzzle

I think the subsurface meaning is going to elude me.

Well, what if the "I" part is Riddle?

3:22 PM
It's very surface.

This feels like one of those things you don't get until you get the answer and see how it worked.

Oh :( I hope not.
But your sentence summaries quite clearly leave parts of the puzzle out.
And since I'm pestering you about what you left out
What did you leave out?

I left out "I'll ask you this".

'the key is telling us we should see three endings'
Yup

There's no actual question.

3:24 PM
Indeed.
Where are there questions?

rhymes are always hard to tell what is surface/padding and what is relevant, btw :)

EYE?

I don't think there much padding in this puzzle... It's something I tried to avoid

Letter's before the 3 question marks

Good to know. And quite rare, btw.
So ok, there are 3 questions. There are three endings. Key is asking us "this", singular.

3:26 PM
morning all, happy new year

Uhhhhhm. okay maybe my wording wasn't THAT specific

:)

Morning Matt!

hey @Matt welcome

Hello, best wishes!

3:27 PM
Happy new year to you too

Anyway - the way it's written, I don't know that we can know (other than blind guessing) if it's asking us the three questions, if it's asking us for the three endings, if it's asking us for both at once, or if it's asking us for some specific question out of all of that.

It's asking you three questions, and then asking for three endings.
So start
*So start by answering the questions.

Ok, that's what I assumed. My summations didn't actually miss that, it's where I was going anyway
which reels us way way back to how I was saying ...

Ah okay, my apologies

it seems to be asking for three solutions; I find one with an actual per se ending, maybe, of "keyboard"
the others are prefixes, without torturing them beyond reason

3:31 PM
Hey! Start by answering the questions :P you've already answered most of them

of map key and minor key

Don't think ahead too much, it'll be confusing. Questions, and then endings!

so it's likely not that

MAP/TYPE/MINOR

@Techidiot good start :)

3:32 PM
PER?

first question then, maybe, has answer of MAP or of CORNER

@Techidiot even better
But still one step away

second of TYPE, third of MINOR

Last line of part one tells you one last instruction.

PEREE

3:33 PM
take the heart twice
that should let us just see its other half

@Techidiot oops, try interpreting 'take my heart twice' a different way? And then perhaps the rest of that line will make sense

PER -> PEER?

A bit like the DOCTOR to DOOR thing

PEER

Yup :)

3:34 PM
bah, that's a little clumsy

'only just see'
Aw, sorry :(

Use the heart twice would be better?

That's definitely better, rubio

even better, with the theme, is to "Give me two hearts" perhaps :)

Ah, that's fantastic! Thanks a lot :)
Hmm I'll need to find a way to make sure that isn't interpreted as adding two extra letters...
I'll leave it as 'use my heart twice' for now until I can think of a way of getting rid of that interpretation.

3:36 PM
It's already got one heart
Whatever, your riddle ;)
Final push:
(I assume?)

Yeah..
PEER DOCTOR
:p
KEY PEER DOCTOR maybe

"when I am" is gonna be important here.
If you know what I am, when I am, then you can: name me, and you'll be done.

KEY, PEER, and DOCTOR adre
*are all important words
Part one gives KEY and PEER. Keeping in mind the tags...

Hmm.. Yeah.. Deciphering DOCTOR failed :)

hehe
unless you can think of a meaning for okyczn

3:39 PM
Well, it sounds like OXYGEN :p

Nailed it. ;)
so. WHEN is it?

Time to follow instructions carefully again

Q: Absurd Equation

jrenk37 12 9 * 2.5 / + = X Solve for X Hint 1 Hint 2

*Keep in mind the beginnings of this riddle, and also remember PART ONE.*
*If you know what I am, when I am, then you can: name me, and you'll be done.*

(You know, I was pretty proud of this puzzle, but I'm seeing more and more why it is kind of clunky, oh well, we live and we learn!)

3:42 PM
are we going to be taking first letters of lines?
I tried and got nowhere

@Rubio right track. Unfortunately, I should've made which first lines a lot clearer

@TheGreatEscaper I think you are giving a tough competition to one of mine puzzling.stackexchange.com/questions/45312/rhyme-of-the-century
:D

well. we can't; we just changed a letter for you
so it has to be specific lines
(and yeah, I was just thinking exactly that hehe)

It's not very specific.
The line should really read 'keep in mind the beginnings of this part'
In fact, I'll make that edit now

ah

3:44 PM
geez really poor puzzles today...

TWEL?

Sorry :(

KIMTBOTP?

Rubio all six lines are a part

Another one already at -3...

3:45 PM
ah
meh
yes 12 makes a little more sense

PIIWYIU :-/

@Techidiot Rubios got the cipher

Great. Well done!

I suppose your 'non-standard' interpretation of part 2 is enough to solve now, hopefully

I am waiting for Rubio's update. I am not sure how to get it yet using IIWYIUIAICKI

3:48 PM
Ahhh not feeling too great about this puzzle anymore. Sorry for frustrating all of you :)

yeah
i'm finishing in a sec

I wanted to try something different with riddles. Hopefully my next attempt will be more successful.

Oh...So, the answer is 12?

Do we need a name? Cuz, like, we only know one person who has that :)

@BeastlyGerbil HNQ

3:50 PM
Well, ok, 2 if you count h imself

I would have accepted Twelfth Doctor or Peter Capaldi :)

Don't be too self-deprecating

Basically anything indicating that the whole puzzle was solved

Q: One edge piece faced wrong way on the 3rd layer

aatrxExample anyone know how to fix it?

Oh well. At least I can say my question was above standard for today :P

3:52 PM
Haha.. Yeah. It was for sure a better one.
12
Q: Superb Undeniably Awesome Legend!

Techidiot Never try to ignore, b'lieve in the pentagonal head of mine. It gives you my first three, out of nine. As a rightful person, look and say to my face. Three of these and thrice more, completes your half a race. Rammle is what you've found. Now get the squares off my back. ...

Has anyone looked at it? :p

No idea whatsoever on that one :P

It's been like 12 days :p

Definitely have! I got a very Indian Deity vibe, thought the title was suspicious, and searched up 'sual india'
Let's just say the google results were um...

I have added a hint

Less than savoury
(Google search 'sual India'!)

3:54 PM
Now that I know you are an IMO person, you should go ahead and find something in there

ni at re af jt

Look at the tags

Pentagonal numbers?

And.. what else you find?

@TheGreatEscaper I tidied up and put the full solution into one answer by including the others by reference.

3:55 PM
Squares.

That was actually pretty fun, thanks for a good one

@TheGreatEscaper Cool
What else?

cubes

Great!
What more?

Lots of 3's

3:56 PM
triangles

Nop

triangles?

Those are literally meant

I don't see them anhwhere

I was just guessing :P

3:57 PM
?
no 3's?

pentagonal head - the first word is 5 letters

@Matt That's my thought as well

Lets consider the riddle as a person

Or possibly, first 3 pentagonal numbers, 1,5,12?

And then go ahead and apply math

3:57 PM
Ah, so I was right
I was thinking about someone

I feel like we're sourcing more numbers first

@TheGreatEscaper Good

But no idea who

Not yet

Out of 9

3:58 PM
Let's go with 2 lines each

Maybe we're looking for 9 numbers

What is the head of the riddle?

Okay, pentagonal head, giving three out of nine

What is the back
What are the thighs
Split the riddle into body parts..
Starting with the Title!
