2:02 PM
hi from me too...

Hi to everyone in general!

He's very gray now :P

It's been a very active day in terms of questions, not sure if a good thing
But fairly quiet in chat.

@Rubio I left a comment on your puzzle. Not sure how to move ahead.
Tried connecting the dot's which were doable but got stuck at repeating letters
And offcourse, I do not see what to do with letter "L"
:-/

I'll take a look in a sec

2:05 PM
Has anyone had a crack at Two Hearts? I'm really proud of that one.

@TheGreatEscaper I am looking at it for quite some time now. But the cipher tag throws me off :)

@Techidiot what do you mean by the Ls in Rubios puzzle?
Do you mean in the long text 'instructions'

Like L0
I guess 0 might be the bottom left corner..

There are Ns in that text as well. I think only the first letter before the plus directly corresponds to a star
I'm guessing the rest is encoded instructions for movement

But if they were movements they should have been N,W,E,S or R,L,U,D isn't it?
I tried treating them as Hex as well
But with no luck

2:09 PM
Encoded instructions.
I find it suspicious that most of the letters are in lower half of alphabet
A few Ns and Ps are in there though

Yeah

Also, don't worry about the cipher yet. Two Hearts is quite a rabbit holey puzzle, start off by treating parts of it as a normal riddle and seeing what happens from then on.

Yeah, so there are a good number of letters in the "instructions" that fall outside the range of A-K
which is not an accident

Yup

I think you're thinking the right way, ish; but you're not following the plain text instructions that are given. there's not much else there, so it stands to reason that they're important. :)

2:13 PM
@TheGreatEscaper I get things like SIRI/GPS etc for the first Part giving me IRIR/PP which I don't think is relevant

Hmm, does SIRI/GPS help you get to places where you shouldn't be?

@Rubio I believe the story doesn't matter right?
@TheGreatEscaper Well, to be very frank, most of the time
:p

Underage becomes out of place, then...

The story doesn't matter.
The usual convention is followed here; just the highlighted box, and (of course) the image, are needed to solve.

I might have underestimated the difficulty of the first paragraph. I showed it to a friend who got the answer straight away, so I assumed it'd be a nice simple first step to ease people into the puzzle. Oh well.

2:28 PM
@TheGreatEscaper A couple of more
ADDRESS? And IP

I think, depending on the kind of person you are, line 2 or line 4 will be the biggest giveaway
There might be some small elements of cryptics/double definition in my puzzle.

Yup. I can sense that

But I think when you solve part 1, you will be quite certain about it anyhow.
It's a very simple and short word.

Keyboard/Typewriter/Qwerty? Ahh.. I am terrible at guessing...

You're getting close, though....
Remember words with a lot of definitions tend to be short.
You're really close to getting it though.

2:34 PM
One of the key on the places? May be carriage return
Or the escape key

(You are legitimately a few backspaces away from solving step 1)
:)

Oh darn, did I already spilled it out? :p

You're sooooo close!

Carriage Return

there's two "End" keys; that's 2 of the 3 already

2:36 PM
Escape?

This is actually mildly hilarious. I don't know how many of you guys have said the word already.

It's not "key"?

If you think you have an answer, check it up with the lines of the riddle.

It's escape. It matches the lines

That's what I said :P

2:38 PM
Even line 4?
Line 4 is the one that will let you know if you have the right answer.

Return :p

Yeah line 4 is the one I don't get :)

We Enter or we Return

I think if Deusovi was around he'd know the meaning of line 4. In fact, it was very important in a recent puzzle hunt question

And we Type

2:39 PM
Type is correct
For that line, anyhow
But the specific answer to the riddle is still somewhat over specific, and doesn't work with line 4
*but your answer to the riddle

I'm confused.
2
Type is correct for which line? Apparently not 4, but I thought that's what you were just talking about.

Hmm.. So something which we used to say for typing..

Hmm. I'm not sure what more to say without spoiling it. But the word you're looking for has been said many times in this chat
And it would've been said in this chat many times before. And in many puzzles on this site. And in many answers on this site.
Lines 1 and 4 are more obscure definitions of the word
But are taught in every school.

Take my heart says take the mid part.. which means the word should have odd length

(Feel free to ignore everything I've said. I'm still confident the answer will be obvious when you work out the meaning of the lines. Or the meanings of the word.)

2:43 PM
KEY is odd length..
three endings you should see

"Esc"?
I don't see that fit line 1

Paragraph by paragraph, fellas.

Fits the rest though

The first paragraph is a standard riddle, worry about the rest later
At this point
I'm uncertain if I've done something wrong
Or if our minds are just working on different tracks...
But the answer will fit all four lines
And the first paragraph will make complete sense.

Tell me if I'm right.

2:46 PM
@Mithrandir ahhhh :)

I got it?

Googling the music bit will explain the 'underage'
I'm not sure, this is my first riddle and I wanted to do something a bit different, which is why there are a lot of steps after the riddle. Was the riddle part bad?

Nope
C D# F
= C minor

There we go :)

(I play piano, so I knew that before Googling, it just didn't click)

2:49 PM
Oh.. I am the worst with musical notes :)

Ah alright. My friend is a muso too, so maybe that's why there was a bit of solving time disparity.

I play songs on Pandora. that's about it. :)

I actually only looked at the riddle now

Where'd the C come from?

After looking at chat and having no idea what you were talking about
@Rubio Random example

2:50 PM
oh ok good

C isn't important, just the fact that minor keys exist in music

So I went and looked at the riddle. Took 20 seconds, but nice riddle.

At least it wasn't as ambiguous as I was starting to worry it was, phew

I actually wrote a riddle that clued something like that, too :)
My first riddle ever.

Wowee, this is my first riddle too.

2:51 PM
17
Q: I have keys, but I have no locks

Mithrandir I have keys, but I have no locks. Some consider me majestic. Other find me annoying. I can do back, but not forward. I am happy. I am sad. I can hold you in suspense. What am I?

For the record, I said key way back

Semi-riddle, at least. You're about 15% through the puzzle.
@rubio yup, but confirming the answer before you understand isn't a great thing for me to do

Oh, no, I didn't mean I expected that ;)
Just that I got it for lines 1-3, and said the only one I didn't get was line 4
which, of course, was the music bit

Ah. Didn't realise music would be such a sticking point!

I think that somewhat confirms the musical knowledge being, er, key here ;)

2:53 PM
:P

Anyway. Onto the next paragraph, I suppose. The second half of the first half!

Second para should be NOTE or NOTES
If its about music ;)

It's not about music, just that one line

Hmm..

The second half is something about like surgery or something, and the 'way' is part of the word, with there being two other letters in the middle?

2:56 PM
So, the 3 endings are NOR for MINOR
Taking heart out gives O
So, OO

Why is MINOR important?

Oh, its not? I thought that is the final outcome. Well, so its KEY.. So, we get EE

The second paragraph of PART ONE is almost a cryptic.
Almost everything is important.

So, that's not related to the first part..
Hmm

It definitely is!
If the second paragraph looks tricky, try it line by line. Or even sentence part by sentence part. Breaking down this puzzle should help a lot.
