Q: Challenge questions and post quality: How should we proceed?

Doorknob 冰As most of you have probably noticed, a meta question was posted a few days ago that some of you did not wholeheartedly agree with. Now that I've secured the "understatement of the year" award, let's talk about post quality here on Puzzling.SE. Here's what I'm going to address in this post: If w...

@Emrakul Oh good it's gotten quiet. Not necessarily, I just wanted to point out that challenges are gaining popularity around SE, even if they are managed events rather than the norm. Hope all is well you

@d'alar'cop You seem to be making a number of whitespace-only edits. Please stop.

Join in on the mystery of the phantom white-space edits?

@d'alar'cop I have several theories, none of which are a legitimate use of the editing system.

What's your favourite theory?

I don't think it's appropriate (for a mod certainly) to make such accusations in public.
If you have a more benign reason, let's hear it.

If it's something that could be labelled an "accusation", then, since I can guarantee the theory is wrong, I'd be interested to hear the answer to "why would someone make white-space edits?"
Maybe let's remove me from the question for the time being... let's say I've come to you guys with an honest mystery... "Why would some be injecting white-space in posts?"
