I didn't mean "The new Shantae game is available only in physical form and you will have to buy it from LimitedRun", I meant "the physical form of the new Shantae game is available only from LimitedRun and nowhere else"
I couldn't care less about the "commemorative gameboy cartridge"
but I would prefer to have it boxed, with the soundtrack disk, the art card deck and such
the poster... I suppose I could print a poster if I wanted.

that said, I am starting to think there is a mole inside Wayforward that always make them chose the worst options when it comes to merchandise.
I still remember the action figures.
Why simply leave that to some famous anime figure makers (Kotobukiya, Megahouse, Banpresto, anyone) when you can choose a DOLL maker (and when I heard about it, I expected a brushable hairs Shantae doll, MLP style) and end up with a limited print uncolored resin kit instead

It is painted. Just..... brighter than it should be and without shadowing.
Still, you have to build it, sand the edges (2019 - models kits are still sold with pieces attached to the "base mold" so you have to cut them off and sandpaper the inevitable rough edges).
<rant> It's supposed to be Shantae, not a Gundam Gunpla model kit!! </rant>

it will also explain WHY it is actually defined as "unpainted". It is technically unpainted. The model is not painted, it is the resin that it is colored... and obviously it doesn't stand up to comparison to a good painting work.
(additional notice: yes, I know, someone may actually like doing the sanding. I am just more for a "SCA" approach)
anyway, to play devil advocate, look ad 6:18 in the aforementioned video.
They say "ASSEMBLE". Not "separate the pieces from the mold base and sand the edges"
And they go further by placing a picture of already separated pieces of a kit on the side....

Hasbro MLP toys shouldn't be called "figures" just because they hardly picture the character they were supposed to.

programmed - afaik - to say the following lines
- I'm a princess! Are you a princess, too?
- I love when you comb my hair!
- Oh, my hair looks beautiful.
- My wings are so pretty!
- My barrettes look so pretty!
- You’re beautiful!
Lauren Faust will be proud. I bet that those lines was just the kind of message she wanted to give to young girls about their role in society.
If you want a MLP figure that at least look like the show, buy licensed but third party products.
Only problem there are few TOYS available as licensed product.
4DE plushes come to mind, but they can be expensive
but to be fair, most third party MLP toys look better than Hasbro's.
(then there is HolyFactory, who is unlicensed but is the only source of plushes for some characters)

I'm not really sure where to ask this or if I can, but it was mentioned in a comment under this answer suggesting Angry GM be put in the feed that, "Angry GM was removed from our feeds and will not be coming back unless/until the author makes amends for blatantly racist rhetoric. [...]" I had not heard this before and would like to see evidence. I'm pinging @Rubiksmoose to judge whether the question I'm asking is allowable
