Why simply leave that to some famous anime figure makers (Kotobukiya, Megahouse, Banpresto, anyone) when you can choose a DOLL maker (and when I heard about it, I expected a brushable hairs Shantae doll, MLP style) and end up with a limited print uncolored resin kit instead

It is painted. Just..... brighter than it should be and without shadowing.

Still, you have to build it, sand the edges (2019 - models kits are still sold with pieces attached to the "base mold" so you have to cut them off and sandpaper the inevitable rough edges).

it will also explain WHY it is actually defined as "unpainted". It is technically unpainted. The model is not painted, it is the resin that it is colored... and obviously it doesn't stand up to comparison to a good painting work.

(additional notice: yes, I know, someone may actually like doing the sanding. I am just more for a "SCA" approach)

anyway, to play devil advocate, look ad 6:18 in the aforementioned video.

They say "ASSEMBLE". Not "separate the pieces from the mold base and sand the edges"

And they go further by placing a picture of already separated pieces of a kit on the side....

4DE plushes come to mind, but they can be expensive

but to be fair, most third party MLP toys look better than Hasbro's.
