@Shalvenay what's up?
@nitsua60 ah, actually...
> If you have to operate within a narrativist framework, and you've finding overpowering others to be a problem, you might profit from exploring the “plot arc emulation” style of narrativist play. It would give you more actionable goals than “player fun”—e.g., “goal of Initial Minor Triumph that Reveals My Weakness has been achieved; next narrative milestone to build towards is Self Improvement Through Humility and Overturning Preconceptions”…

have you heard about that style before? I'm kind of curious as to how that style would work for me but don't know enough about it
I've played a few games where it's baked into the system, and I've had players who designed character arc goals for their PCs.
@BESW ah, what systems feature that style of narrativist play?
The one that comes immediately to mind is My Life With Master.
@BESW nods hrm. I wonder if a refluff/hack of that might be useful for me? (not sure if the original setting/theme would be very good for me)

It might be useful to play once or twice, but I don't think it's a good system to really adopt.
@BESW yeah -- the thematic issues with it are quite deeply seated
any others that come to mind?
Hmm. They tend to be kinda edge cases.
A Penny For My Thoughts kinda counts.
(Especially some of the variants.)
Dead Inside, maybe? Haven't really studied or played that.
Katanas & Trenchcoats a little bit.
....No Exit, I think.

BubbleGumshoe sounds like it might be edging toward that playstyle.
