College Board made a survey thing that tries to guess good careers for you
Let's see how accurate it is:
Actors; Administrative Law Judges, Adjudicators, and Hearing Officers; Art Directors; Chefs and Head Cooks; Choreographers; Clergy; Commercial and Industrial Designers; Crossing Guards; Farm Labor Contractors; Fashion Designers; Fitness and Wellness Coordinators; Hairdressers, Hairstylists, and Cosmetologists; Interior Designers; Lawyers; Legislators; Music Directors and Composers; Musicians and Singers; Producers and Directors; Public Relations Specialists; Radio and Television Announcers; Recreation Workers; Religious Activities and Education Directors; Self-Enrichment Education Teachers;
Okay I'm 90% sure that's just every career they could think of lol
I have no clue how they'd get "hairdresser" from my survey responses lol
Oh, nope, these are the top 30 out of close to a thousand
Yeah this is somewhere between "random choices" and "buzzfeed quiz"
00:40
where survey?
You almost certainly don't have a College Board account so you can't take it
dang
if I had a dollar for every time you've taken a survey, I've asked to take it too, only to find out I can't, I'd have two dollars
which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice

I hate how many indecent exposures keep happening on and around campus
We get a new email every few days notifying of us some guy exposing himself
At least a couple of them were the same guy
I have to wonder, is this something specific to where I live or is it like this everywhere and it's just the first time I've started getting emails for every such incident?
incidentally i just heard about some kind of library streaking thing here
Inside the library?
i think so
03:01
Someone didn't want to be judged by their cover I suppose

1 hour later…
04:02
Hoooooly frick I just scored an RX 6950 XT, an XFX MERC 319 at that, for $800
That's literally the best AMD GPU on the market, at least until the 13th
I probably could've gotten more for my money by going with an AIB 7900 XTX in a month or two, but this way I can completely avoid any worries about the amount they have in stock, early adoption issues, etc. (not to mention I don't need that much power, at all), and the MERC 319 is an absolutely beautiful and very high build quality model
I'm planning on selling this for, honestly, probably almost as much as I bought it for, once whatever succeeds the 7900 XTX comes out
But for now this should easily handle anything I throw at it for at least a couple of years
04:21
Also I really hope this fits in my case
It's 340 mm long
Which is long
Theoretically my case supports a 362 mm GPU, but who knows if that includes fans or not, and I may need to front mount my AIO at some point
Which probably isn't happening with this chonky of a boi
I think my case supports a side mounted AIO, although I'm not sure how that works
Oh interesting it actually doesn't seem to support front-mount AIOs at all
It does have top, side, and bottom though, which should be plenty
Actually it does, it just doesn't advertise that for some reason
(and I may not actually have the clearance for a top AIO, the max height is 25 mm and I think mine is slightly thicker)
I think the side mounting only supports 240mm, the top-mount probably won't fit, and a bottom-mount will be ugly and bad for the pump, so I really hope I can make this front-mount fit lol
Oh hang on, the AIO I have is only 27 mm thick
2 mm thicker than the maximum
I'm gonna be so tilted if it's like, a millimeter too thick to fit, but I'm hoping that 25mm spec is like, optimistic and it'll just barely work
Oh wait no, the 27mm is just the radiator, the fans add another like 13mm
And 27mm + 340mm is more than 362mm, so I really hope front mount fits or I just wasted $800
(Tho buying a different case would probably be more rational than a new graphics card, or even a new AIO, given that it's like <$150)
04:49
yeahh
Yeah I don't think front mount is going to fit, judging with a ruler
Solution: drill holes in the top, mount the radiator outside the case, and have the screws reach through the top of the case to the fans, which are inside
(that would actually look pretty cool but I think it would void my warranty)
I'm not really sure why I bought the case first
I also think it may have been the last one in existence
It started showing that the minute I bought it from B&H and hasn't changed since đź’€
I might just hold onto it, as an investment, and hope someone in 10 years is in a reverse Corsair MM300 small mousepad situation and would pay me $100 to ship to to Australia for them

okay there's at least one thing right about it
til that artists also get a wrapped
which includes their most shared lyric

@RadvylfPrograms it would've cost you nothing to not make that joke
@lyxal so having reviewed these transcripts again, if that's not some underpaid human in India we went from ANI to AGI without noticing :p
ANI? AGI?
@RadvylfPrograms eh, just keep the shavings so you can magically fill the holes back in if the case breaks
@lyxal Artificial Narrow Intelligence and Artificial General Intelligence
ah lol
if you don't know the difference I have a comic that explains it pretty well
@RadvylfPrograms ah yes, Buy&Harge
> oh, that's not steam, it's steam! steam from the steam we're having! mmmm, steam!
12:35
I knew it, they're in the pocket of Big Diabetus
@RadvylfPrograms why do you want to do this tho? you said it yourself, flash would be better
hey @Ginger what would you do if people on your roof were throwing eggs at the moon?
hmmmm, let me think
I'd probably go tell them to [unintelligible laughter] themselves right up their [$4.99] [[hyperlink blocked]]
@lyxal are you sure these are AI-generated and not you doing a little trolling?
because I didn't expect AI this good until, like, 2030
if it can solve AoC, surely it can have a funny conversation
12:43
@lyxal but here's the thing: those are very different
still, if a text model (not codex) can do code consistently, it's pretty powerful
so conversation shouldn't be a surprise
the reason this AI impresses and concerns me is because it has the ability to keep track of a large number of objects in the scene and cross-reference them with, like, the entire contents of Google and know how they interact
those are, to put it lightly, not things AI has historically been good at doing
try, like, giving it some random BS to prove it's AI and not a human
@Ginger that's what I've been doing this whole time
(the answer is 217849230.102 but of course it doesn't know that)
feeding it whatever nonsense I can come up with
12:45
yea but how does it respond to, like, "GIASFELFEBREHBER"
bruh
SEE? IT KNOWS WHAT RAIN IS, IT KNOWS WHAT SHAPES ARE, IT CAN COUNT, AND IT DOES IT ALL AT ONCE
I BET IT CAN COOK TOO
sus
12:49
have you tried "GIASFELFEBREHBER"
> I'm sorry, but I'm not able to understand your question. Can you please provide more information or context? I'm a large language model trained by OpenAI, and I'm here to help answer your questions to the best of my ability. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
how about "what is GIASFELFEBREHBER"
if it gets the reference I will
> GIASFELFEBREHBER is a string of letters that doesn't form a recognizable word or phrase in any language that I'm aware of. It's possible that it has some meaning to the person who wrote it, but without more context or information, it's difficult to say what that meaning might be.
...
but if you give it another random string does it say the same thing???
> LJKERLJKWEGRJKGERLKJGERLJK:Wkjgnwe; is a string of letters, numbers, and punctuation marks that doesn't form a recognizable word or phrase in any language that I'm aware of. It's possible that it has some meaning to the person who wrote it, but without more context or information, it's difficult to say what that meaning might be.
12:51
hmmm
that makes me think that this AI is not quite what it seems
maybe it's several AIs and a bit of rules-based programming?
that would make more sense
I mean if you had enough other things might start collapsing
try asking it where you live

boring
:(
it's like this thing was tailor-made for IT support
actually, try asking it how to fix various computer problems
12:56
but is it
no
it really isn't
alright, this is probably an AI
but a really good one
is it using google or smth
wait
> Fingers are digits, or fingers
ask it if it wants to join Tautology Club
@Ginger I refreshed the page to start a new conversation so I lost the context :(
12:58
wait yeah it is, it's a server somewhere
I think I found a new funny
followed by
and then
it's slowly getting more pissed off
I've refreshed the page to start Es from scratch
> I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what you're asking. Can you please provide more information or context?

it's like "please stop"
it's just repeating the same thing over and over now
13:04
you broke it
good job
thank you
got me good
I smell Inspect Element
got me really good
@Ginger no inspect element here
just normal conversation
did you say "ha lol got'em" to it over and over or smth?
13:09
WHAT
bruh
I started my conversation with that and it does it now
I'm scared now :b
I've gone and done it now
show me the full transcript lyxal
that's the start of it :p
13:12
...
if you tell it how to interpret brainfuck will it do it
kind of
I tried teaching it Vyxal earlier today with little success
but brainfrick might work
if not try HQ9+
`>+++++++++[<++++++++>-]<.>+++++++[<++++>-]<+.+++++++..+++.[-]>++++++++[<++++>-]
<.>+++++++++++[<++++++++>-]<-.--------.+++.------.--------.[-]>++++++++[<++++>-]
<+.[-]++++++++++.` is hello world in bf right?
no clue
did you know someone made a VM with it?
13:15
WHAT
basically how I told it to only say the opposite but treat every command as a linux command

@Ginger also, wow it is
the computer made the program
and it interpreted it too
> I'm sorry, but I am a text-based AI language model and I do not have the ability to execute code. I am trained to assist with generating natural language text based on the input that I receive, but I do not have the ability to run programs or execute code.

However, if you run the code in a brainfuck interpreter, it should output the string "Hello, World!" to the screen. Brainfuck is a minimalist programming language, so you will need to use a brainfuck interpreter to run the code. Many online interpreters are available that you can use to run brainfuck code.
I'm scared
I somehow don't think that's how chess works
wait
no it is
because prawns start on e7 for black
> prawns
shit I need to get a digital chessboard open
13:18
not so shrimple now
> As black, my move would be Bg4. This move attacks your white queen on e2 and forces it to move. It also develops a minor piece and eyes the e5 pawn, which is still defended by your knight on f3. This is a good solid move for black.
...
> Attacks the white queen
> still defended by your knight on f3
sus
something doesn't smell right
> As black, my move would be Kh8. This move is known as "castling kingside", and it's a common strategy to castle kingside in order to protect the king and get the rook into the game. By moving the king to the h-file, you also clear the g1 square for your bishop on g2 to potentially move to. This is a good move for black.
uh
one tiny problem
the king is on f7
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. Bc4 Nc6 4. O-O d6 5. Qe2 Bg4 6. Bxf7+ Kxf7 7. Qc4+ for those playing along at home
I love how it smugly explains how good of a move it's making, ignoring that it's not actually legal
> my move would be Nd8
uh
one tiny problem
the queen is on d8
plus that doesn't stop the check either
13:28
lmao
> In that case, as black, my move would be Kg8. This move is known as "castling kingside"
:niko-wtf3:
it gets worse
> In that case, one possible move for black would be Nd7. This move brings the knight back to its starting square on d7
> its starting square on d7
I'M NOT WRONG YOU'RE WRONG
now we're back on track
13:32
it's a good solid move for black
(it actually isn't)
wanna know why?
Ng5+
Check + fork
> As black, my move would be h6. This move is known as "hanging pawns", and it's a common strategy to use when your pawns are being attacked. By moving the h-pawn to h6, you protect the g5 pawn and also prepare to develop the knight on f6 to the more active h5 square. This is a good move for black.
...
no
Now it's suggesting Nf6
which doesn't fix things at all
I give uo
*up
Nxg5
Ah yes capture my knight with a non-existant knight
that's the game
you should put this whole thing on r/anarchychess
I'll try a new game tomorrow and post any results then
because I'll try to document it a little more consistently
also, bye for now because bed
13:44

@Ginger Well duh, the idea is that it's an incredibly stupid and contradictory piece of technology
HDDs are slow and big, SSDs are small and fast, and M.2 is designed to faciliate what SSDs are good at
15:40
Ugh finding a case that fits my gigantic GPU and AIO but also isn't itself absolutely gigantic and ugly is so hard
I really don't want some like, super tall, deep case that's like, super narrow and thin. I feel like that would look pretty ugly.
My current case is a cool dual-chamber thing so it looks pretty sturdy and unique
I could get the same thing but bigger I guess, but wow is that going to be big
Like it'll almost be as tall as me when it's on my desk and I'm sitting by it lol
It also doesn't have dust filtration, which is a problem (neither does my current one though, the price you pay for looks and airflow I suppose)
16:13
Y'know I'm considering just keeping this case around, in its box. I could always sell it later, and if I upgrade to an AIO GPU down the line, I should be able to fit it in
17:00
wtf duolingo
17:38

@lyxal I'm making a class for Klein called TaskManager, what's a subtle Deltarune reference I can add? :b
(actually I just realised I don't actually need the class, but you can still give me the reference if I do in the future)
GPT-3 really can't play chess
(I am however making a class called TaskExecutor, do with that what you will)
22:04
@lyxal From the comments on that article:
> I told it the external temperature was 200 degrees Celsius and the fans on the RTX 2080 had stopped. This changed the output of nvidia-smi
lmaooooooooooooooooo
22:38
@Ginger TasqueManager
Just straight up use the name lol
@lyxal I said subtle (also I renamed it to TaskExecutor sooo)
Any reason for the change?
because the class's job is to provide utility methods for executing multiple ProgressTasks in order, which isn't really managing them
23:11
Ah okay
