00:00 - 01:0001:00 - 03:00

1:00 AM
[!! very well]

[sorry to cut and run!]

[that's fine, take care!]

[oh, bah. I was about to waltz a minstrel in teh door]

[do so!]

It's... not like we really need a GM.

1:00 AM
hah

[bwah BWAHHH]

I conk a goblin with a swift blow to the cranium, and he goes down, out cold.

Jingle Ditty, a wandering minstrel wanders in to....chaos, apparently.

[A number of adventurers have previously run out of this tavern. People in the town are aware there are goblins in the sewers. You have run into a bar full of goblin laughter and smashing things. Is the minstrel here because he's ready for a fight, or is he here for shelter because out there is even worse!?]

A young teenager wearing a stewpot for a helmet, with a pickle-barrel lid shield and a broken chair leg, has just hit a goblin over the head. Another goblin is ransacking the tavern, and the door to the store-room is ripped off its hinges and leaning on a sleeping drunk in the doorway.

1:04 AM
(Oh, is Ichabod on his own now? :D)

[Well, the brigands that had been tracking him in the forest intent on getting back the cheap coppers that he passed of as gold might have been a good impetus as well]

I roll for Ichabod to still have lackeys trashing the tavern
1d6

(Someone oppose?)

@JonathanHobbs [I'm sure that more goblins can storm in. Roll to see!]
1d6

1:05 AM

Oh dear. Ichabod's on his own.
Ichabod notices he is now the only one laughing and smashing things, and stops laughing and smashing things, and turns to see the minstrel.
UH.
Ichabod tries to run for it past the Minstrel's legs!
1d6

Jingle steps aside and sticks out a foot.
id6
1d6

ooh whats dis?

1:06 AM
[bugger]

Ha-haaa!
There's a goblin running screaming out the door.

I roll to see if I stay in the tavern like I'm supposed to (Obedience 2).
2d6

(Someone oppose, please.)

2d6

1:08 AM

I stay in the tavern like a good barsweep, and I spend an XP to make that 2 a six for advancement: Tavern Guardian 3.
No, that's too broad.
Standing My Ground.

lol
hmm

jingle looks around trying to Figure Out whats Going On
1d6

1:09 AM

Jingle is clueless

"Mister Musician, sir! Let him go, the townsfolk'll find him! Please stay here and help me guard the bar; I'm sure more will come in through the storeroom drain!"

I've got no clue, so...I look for an unbroken chair to sit on.
"More...more of THAT!?"

Ichabod is going to try to find some backup to help him out with a stubborn tavern
1d6

1:11 AM
1d6

[oh sh**e]

I take Goblin Howling 2
what are you two up to?

I think I'm convincing the minstrel to help.
(Is that a valid use of Standing My Ground?)

Help...help with what? That insanely gibbering green thing over there? I just wanted a drink!

1:13 AM
(Is that a valid use of Standing My Ground?)

(I think it's on the no side of the border)
(but it will be useful once the goblins come back)

"I'll give you a drink, Sir! On the house, if you help!"
1d6

1d6

1:14 AM
I dunno, a free drink sounds good, but...

There's a lot of howling out there. Maybe the tavern would be a good place to stay!
2d6

1d6

[so...now I pick a new talent related to the action, yes?]

1:15 AM
Yes.

(Oh my. Yes)

yep

Resist temptation 1

(Fearless?)

"Please, sir. If you don't help, I may not be able to give you a drink at all! They've already smashed up most of the kegs."

1:16 AM
(2, not 1. You were Doing Anything which is already 1, you now pick a 2 skill)

(oh, ok. resist temptation 2).

@JohnP Your Minstrel was not rolling to resist temptation, that was the previous roll! He's rolling to oppose being frightened into staying in the bar with the tavern boy

(ah, ok. missed that shift. Fearless 2 is good then)
"Well, I really could use a drink..."
1d6

(What do you want to have happen?)
(Gotta pick an action you're attempting, or something you want to have happen!)

1:18 AM
(I didn't WANT to go out the door, but now I'm gonna have to find a new tavern)
(Was weighing free drink versus potential beating)

(So what are you rolling to have happen? c(: Every roll in this system is to make something happen)
(Or make something be true! Like rolling to have shoes on)

lol

(I think maybe I'm rolling too quickly, can we back it up a tad?)

(Sure.)

"I can see they've smashed most of the kegs. Any of the good stuff left or is it all the swill?"

1:20 AM
(@JohnP Have you read Roll for Shoes?)

(not yet. give me a moment)

Meanwhile, I'll roll for quality booze.
1d6

(ok, got it)

@JonathanHobbs Roll to oppose me?

1:22 AM
1d6

(I'm going to assume the GM mantle)
(being the guy with the goblins and etc)

Fair enough.

lol

(@JohnP Let us know when you've read it and you're on the same page)
(@Trogdor you're welcome to join in)

1:24 AM
mk
hmmm

(already read it)

I did just read that thing you linked too

(@JohnP Great. :D)

"So, you do have Bravitz Ale. What am I expected to do for this?"

"Keep the goblins out of the tavern, Mister Musician sir." I hand him a chair leg.

1:27 AM
[looks at it]

There was a lot of smashing going on, but the tavern is still full of quality booze. They missed the good stuff, there are entire barrels left over.

"Uhm... you mean like hit them with this?"
"What if they hit back?"

"It works for me, sir!" I point at the unconscious goblin on the floor. "...are you any good at interrogation, sir?"
[@trogdor Write yourself into the tracking sheet with Do Anything 1, and come on in.]

mk

"Well, I have been known to ferret out a secret or two, but he doesn't look like he's talking right now"

1:29 AM
I am thinking of a character just yet

I'm sure something in this bar is good for reviving the consciousness-challenged.
1d6

There's a fresh stock of cold water.
Unless you can think of something better. :)

1:30 AM
I have The Art of Bartending 2.

[looks at it dubiously....dumps it on the goblin, club at the ready]

(Roll, I want to see how well the goblin wakes up)

(Do I roll to awaken him?)
1d6

(He'll wake up, that won't be opposed)
1d6

1:31 AM

The goblin wakes up wide-eyed and alert and splutters!

"All right...uhm...goblin! What is going on here??" [waves club menacingly to intimidate]
1d6

1:32 AM
[oh crap]

[I have Smashing Things 2 if things get out of hand.]

(Should the goblins be Fearless?)
Wait, hold on
When I oppose should I suggest something the goblin actually does to oppose?

Not explicitly.
In this case, it's a roll to be unintimidated.

Alright.

[Fearless, Defiant, Loyal?]

1:34 AM
@JohnP The goblin is Defiant! He pokes his tongue out at Jingle.

so when you oppose, it doesn't count for that rule of all 6's?

@trogdor any time you get all sixes on a roll, you get a new skill.
Can I roll Smashing Things 2 for intimidation without actually Smashing Something, seeing as it was this goblin I got the skill off of in the first place?

mk

"Of all the cheek!"

(You can try to be Menacing, but you wouldn't be smashing something.)
(Unless you decide to smash something.)
(Smash something to be menacing?)

1:37 AM
I smash the club down on a chair next to the goblin's head. "Answer the good sir's questions, &$@#." I use a word I hear a lot in the bar but am unsure of its meaning.
2d6

(Opposing with Defiance?)

Makes sense.

1:38 AM
The goblin shrieks and cups its scalp. "Not my head!"

I spend two XP to get Menacing My Beatstick 3.

The town is getting a little noisy out there! What're you going to do?

[pokes the goblin] "So see here, what is all this about? Why are you all smashing the, er... town!"

[Until the bartender tells me otherwise, getting me out of the bar is going to require opposing my Obedience 2.]

The goblin considers biting its way out of its mess, then glances at the tavern boy and back to Jingle and reconsiders. "We want your stuff! You have nice stuff! We're gonna make it our stuff!"
(The Bartender left the bar, right?)

1:42 AM
[and all jingle thinks is "oh, not again"]

2 hours ago, by Problematic
There is general bedlam for a few minutes as all the adventurers and would-be adventurers drunkenly grab their gear and charge out the door. The bartender (a former adventurer himself who occasionally pines for the glory days) looks you in the eye and says gruffly, "Stay here, boy." before exiting the building and leaving you quite alone.
"Then why are you smashing it, you little &*%#?" I try out a different word.

lol
mk I made my character

"That's not the nice stuff! Why would you think it's nice!?"
The goblin is going to scramble to get away.
2d6

(Defiant!)

1:45 AM
I stand my ground.
3d6

10 vs 11. Nice.
I presume the goblin doesn't get to go anywhere?
He's scrambling for the bar.

I step in front of him and slap my club against my palm. "Nuh-uh, Mister ^&@#. You're staying where I can see you."

lol

(Anyone think I should turn that into some sort of Skill 3?)

1:47 AM
@JonathanHobbs Cowardice 3?

you could make it "running away"
or cowardice

(You get to add a skill for ANY 6?)

no
any all 6's

(All rolls have to be 6. I'm spending an XP point the goblins have to turn that 4 into a 6 for progression purposes.)

he has one 6 in there and 2 XP he can use to make the others 6

1:48 AM
(You get an XP point for failing a roll)

You get 1 XP every time you fail a roll, and you can spend 1 XP to make one die a six for terms of advancement but not success.

Kyrix, how would you like to make your entrance?

hmm
I might say I am in the rafters, and I choose now to speak up
"quite amusing, you think goblins need a good reason to come here and drink booze?"
"I think you miss the point of goblins"

(Can I suggest y'all find a motivation in this scenario?)

welp
it is a tavern
I think I want to get smashed

1:51 AM
@trogdor I think he means the interrogation; what are we trying to find out?

which prolly won't take much seeing as smallness

I scream. Again. "AAAAAH!"

ah

(I'm proposing that in the interests of each of you having some aim to push towards and something you can be proactive about :D)

not my problem then lol

1:52 AM
(I mean, in terms of your characters, find some goal you're trying to achieve.)

atm anyway
oh
I kinda did then

(it will help make things move :D)

I want to defend the tavern, which at the moment means gathering intel and soldiers.

(Excellent.)

(Next, preparing perimeter defenses.)

1:53 AM
I'm for anything that keeps me out of the hands of the brigands, which if it means getting goodwill by beating on goblins, so be it. I'm going to soil my clothes tho

@JohnP I'm sure some tavern patron left a pair of brown pants you can borrow.

(So, the Minstrel wants to get out of the hands of the law or to redeem himself in the eyes of the law?)

Actually... I'm going to have to bow out, sorry.

[I meant soil as in get dirty. Dirt sucks. I'm verra pretteh ye know]

1:54 AM
ah
dang

I actually need to go to lunch, too.

(The brigands are not exactly law, and I cheated them. :D)

Shall we adjourn?

seems like the best option
oh well
next time

You could pump up another scenario.
But yeah, it's a very easy system to jump into.

1:55 AM
well, who remains? trog, me jon is it?
nm. reading comprehension.

yeah
just us 2
in this particular case we would prolly just both raid the beer

I'm all for that.

have fun you two :)

lol

[glugle]
well, bugger.

2:03 AM
hmm?

ah, just can't ever seem to get into a going game.
and every group around where I live is full :/
at least I have LOTR:FOTR on the xbmc tonight.

mm
yeah I still technically have a group
but one of the 3 of us is busy any given time
and a GM and 1 PC is kinda scarce

yeh, this is true.
