Q: Congratulations! Software Recommendations is graduating!

Grace NoteIt's a big day. You've been cleared for graduation by the Stack Exchange Community Team! Software Recommendations recently met our threshold for graduation-worthy sites and after a review, the Community Team determined that you're good to go. Reaching 'mature community' status is a big milestone,...

Q: Community Promotion Ads - 2015

Grace NoteAs your site is undergoing our new design-independent graduation process, you'll be enjoying your own run of design-independent Community Promotion Ads! What are Community Promotion Ads? Community Promotion Ads are community-vetted advertisements that will show up on the main site, in the righ...

Well folks, we did it
14:16
@Undo Oh – that means I've lost privileges (didn't make it to 10k in time). But still, good for us! Apart from only having 2 members with 10k+
Oh again: privilege levels still show the beta standards?
@Izzy Yep, we'll get the new privilege levels after we get a design
So that means you still have time to win that election that's coming up ;)
@Undo How much? I'm still missing 2k :)
@Izzy Probably months.
And I thought enough "mod-enabled" users were one criterium for maturing.
We really have quite a few
14:22
Well, a few months will bring me closer at least.
@Undo I doubt that. With the "matured levels" applied now, it were only 2 (next to the "real mods").
People will work up to that. I'm more concerned about the community being able to close stuff, which it can.
And it does so quite handily.
Also, now we have to figure out if we want to be in the Trilogy's migration lists
I'd put in a word for that
I'm not terribly enthused at the idea of having a firehose of crap pointed at us, but it would help promote the site.
Also, as I'd mentioned, I won't be standing for elections on SR
Don't forget tho, you can reject moves
But can we reject them fast enough?
14:29
;p
If you have SO? Maybe not ;p
Looking at SO's migration stats, we're talking about a migration every day. At least.
not too bad
And we all know the average quality of the things that come off SO
SU might have more actually
Strike that, I read it wrong. More like 110 per site in the last 90 days.
So more than one per day.
14:39
@Undo Yes! And if we want to expand ours (I'd e.g. recommend to have at least SU listed there – as questions on "how to solve issues with software X" are popping up here quite regularly).
Plus, the "trilogy" then should be well informed about what we accept here at all (remember those unfitting migrations? One time I got the answer "if we are unsure, we just migrate and let the close-voters handle the rest").
@Undo And the close-votes handle the rest, huh? :) If a migrated Q gets close-voted by our users, that IMHO results in the migration being rejected, right?
Right
@Izzy That is technically the policy, as much as I dislike it
Along with "don't migrate crap", but if you don't know what crap is...
lol
If its crap, kick it back
It a mod does it, we have a quiet word.
;p
@JourneymanGeek Mods can reject. Users can only VTC, even with access to the mod-tools.
@JourneymanGeek Ouch #D
@Undo Exactly the point: one man's crap is anothers favorite toy, or the like :)
If a migrated question is closed, it's rejected. Mods just happen to be able to close stuff instantly.
So normal users can do it too

What will the new privilege levels look like?
@Tom unix.stackexchange.com/help/privileges (but it'll be months before we switch to that)
Tom
Tom
Wow, that's rough
I'm assuming users that have privileges not aren't grandfathered in when the change is made?
@Tom no, when we switch, people with rep between 150 and 25000 will lose some privileges
Tom
Tom
Oh well, at least were graduating and will be a known site:) do you think we'll get a custom domain or do sites like this stay on the same domain?
@Tom there are no custom domains
the few that exist are kept only for historical reasons

Q: What should our chatroom be named?

UndoOur lovely chatroom is currently sitting there with a terribly generic name: Software Recommendations. What should we name it?

A year and a half later and we've kept the default name. I guess the default name is fine then.

A: What should our chatroom be named?

GillesSoft wrecks (ha-ha-only-serious)

FYI, our mod room is called the “Soft Towers”
