@Seth I'm sure you can make it specific enough (yes if some people said something like that I'd be hesitant but you I'm confident can do it)
grunt.... grunt... grunt... I really really love Grunt :D (which I got recommended here)! First release (as opposed to commit - since I have dozens of those with grunt and wow it makes it easy :D

@Seth: they're killing off ubuntu one? :/
Yet another reason I'm starting to think running your own everything is a great idea
03:07
@JourneymanGeek Yeah :(
They just can't compete with the likes of Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox.
(My current file-sync tool of choice is btsync anyway)
@NickWilde Hm, I'll maybe give it a try then :)

Q: Alternative to Ubuntu One (client and service) that can run automated backups?

SethRecently Canonical announced that it is shutting down the Ubuntu One service. I'm looking for a cloud storage service/client pair that: Will run scheduled, automated, backups of my home folder and other folders I specify. Has a Linux client (I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 if it matters). Is ...

and with that, good night.
04:03
Wait, why is not a synonym of ? That's confusing.
free is going to get created a lot because gratis isn't very straightforward.
I disagree with using gratis over free anyway, but that is a different matter.
@Seth can you do something about that image in AU chat room? Iceweasel slows to crawl each time I switch to that tab :(
@Braiam Oh you unbelieving debian user :P
Which image? Mine?
the gigantic screenshot
is like 2 screens away but the browser tries to render it anyways D:
bad iceweasel, bad, bad, bad.
Anyway, I un-oneboxed it.

A: Alternative to Google Reader

Journeyman GeekIf you don't mind running your own (or can find a instance of it yourself ) tt-rss is a great RSS feed reader. ads? What ads, you're running it yourself Categorization: as much as you'd like has great third party app support updates can be set per feed, but the minimum update time is 15 minut...

I think this is a good reason not to post one answer a recommendation >_>

@JourneymanGeek a very good example I'd say
hmmm just looking at a question:
and I've discovered that our help/on-topic page doesn't actually say what is/is not on topic.
@JourneymanGeek/@PINGALLTEHMODS someone want to edit that to state what is on-topic
@NickWilde: what are we missing though? How better do we word it? Could we meta-cise that?
meh, outside the obvious, I'm wondering if I should have waited for a good google reader replacement ;p
Of course, after the whole saga with the old reader... I decided running my own was the best
13:46
@JourneymanGeek It was a little rather dicey around the time GR shut down, there really were no great alternatives. It took a little while for the hole in the market to be filled.
13:57
@Caleb: Very. The Old Reader came close, but they had capacity problems, and they didn't handle it too well
(They kicked out all their google reader refugees, rebuilt and took a long while to get back online. Their free tier dosen't meet my needs too)
digg seems to have fixed the main annoyance I have too
(That you couldn't hide empty feeds)
@JourneymanGeek Ya I checked it out at one point and said no-thanks after a few hours, but it could be worth another look, it does seem like it has come of age.
The problem now is I'm quite happy with Ino, it will take something compelling to switch again.
Same with ttrss for me
(and the fact that I can back up my whole database and move the setup is pretty sweet)
14:49
@JourneymanGeek link to a meta topic I figure would be fine
@NickWilde: we seem to have those as is ;p
yes but a link from the help topic to them I think would be good
of course doing that would increase my RTFM desires - I mean I don't have pretty low tendencies so it wouldn't decrease my apparent niceness to new users
I mean generally this is what I may be thinking: "oh damn another idiot who can't even see the suggestions for similar topics when opening their question which is an apparent exact duplicate."
and yet this is what I say "Welcome to blabla this appears to be a duplicate of x however if you need some feature that that doesn't cover please clarify etc."
lol
I do that all the time
I help janitor a small community which seems to entirely consist of immature adults and teenagers, so, I'm very good at politely not yelling at people who I want to yell at ;p
you mean barking...
and a little bite ;)
14:58
There have been one or two users over on the Oblivion forum at Bethesda that I've stopped responding to after they made duplicate questions over and over and over and over that were factually questionable and clearly not related to what they thought and they just couldn't here it but beyond that I have pretty good patience
the most I can do is look at people like they're stupid ;p
I am a 23 yr old brown belt in karate and there have been a couple times in the last few months that teens saw me walking round town in my gi and belt and wanted to be bloody idiots - grunting and aping to their friends about how ooh look I'm a black belt look at my kick as they kick in the air towards my head.
it has been all I can do to avoid rolling on the ground laughing at their ineptitude
and the main reason I haven't is that would get mud/grass on my white gi and that is a real pain to get out
15:13
Why oh why do I keep upvoting Franky's answers... If I didn't do it so often he wouldn't have higher rep than me. Why can't my competitive instinct overrule my fairness
15:42
;p
Looks like I'm up to number 2 on the rankings ;p
16:29
@NickWilde because that would be unfair? ;P
btw, I just realized those are goats in your gravatar lol. Always thought they were dogs.
17:25
@Seth yep Nigerian Dwarf on the left (registered too), experimental cross on the right
