Q: It is NOT ok to copy and paste from product website

OxinaboxOn this question, user3075942 posts 3 answers. All of the feature lists are direct copy and pastes from the product websites. As are the screen-shots. On SW-REC SE, we add value (over a google search) to our recommendations by talking from personal experience. Whether or not the poster has perso...

This is my new pet SE hate. Copy Paste Feature Lists

yeah
Can we make a bot to follow links in posts, then to check the post itself for plagerism?
In theory, yes. In practice... I don't want to take it on :P
Like the have those for uni/schools
Maybe that is a SW-REC

@JourneymanGeek beat ya to that by 2 hours :P

Bah, would have had it except for that week i went away, congrats guys.
@Oxinabox It isn't hard to get :)
Fanatic is a bit harder.
Seth it isn't no, it it is pretty good getting it this early.
are there any softwares available to perform physics/biology practicals in interactive mode?
I know I've been becoming a bit obsessed aout checkign up on the Site (in particular meta), checkign it like i do my emails and facebook. (which is pretty bad)
jockopen more deails?
what is a practical?
sorry the word is experiments
03:46
You mean for doing simulations>?
I would recommend SciPy + IPython
yeah a kind of simulation (i dont know exact meaning of simulators although)
@Oxinabox: SU and here are on my standard, always open bookmarks ;)
A simulator is a model.
this is a little bit similar link for physcis experiments
but i dontthink it is interactive
@Oxinabox ok
03:49
For physics, if you want cheap, you are going to go places if you find the right video games.
If you want to go non-cheap you are goign to be looking at things like Engineerign Dynamic CAD programs (and we are talking $10,000+)
I know nothing about biology
is there any web apps?
or websites?
for physics
really depends what you want, pretty broad.
I suggest https://dan-ball.jp/en/javagame/dust/
is on the game-y less useful end
yeah question may be broad; but our knowledge may be limited & hence you can share the stuff you know; the balance things i ll dig out my self
equivalent from google
Thanks you
alchemy is one chrome extension i loved
Danball seems nice; thanks for recommending

Surabhil SergyI'm currently using PHP DOM with CURL and Simple HTML DOM Parser for HTML scraping. Q: Should we allow questions asking for software cracker, patcher or keygens?

Bleeding FingersShould we allow questions which ask for software product license/key generators, activators, patches or cracker? And why? Question would be of the sort say I'm using X, version Y on OS Z. I want to cracker it in order to activate it. Which software would you recommend for this? Btw I ha...

This Q is asking for PHP solutions. All answers are Java. And OP even accepted one. Quite a little irritating...
pretty quick accept too
I see no problem with the java suggestion; the OP really didn't know what they wanted since they were also talking about Python options.
@Izzy an edit makes it make sense retroactively at least - and given that accept without changing the OP's meaning.
It looks like the OP asked the wrong question and people answered the question OP meant to ask?
@Izzy blames @JourneymanGeek
@Braiam: why should Izzy blame JG?
@NickWilde Yeah, that's what I think, too.
@Braiam Yupp, why? Looking...
Ah! He didn't intervene? Well, SniffyDog can't be anywhere. Also quad-pedians need some rest from time to time :)
Some people just don't know what they are asking I think and it is the responsibility of higher rep users to (politely) tell them what they are asking
@Braiam ah yes - well I flagged it on meta to be moved and I didn't edit it either but at that point there wasn't any talk of Java
there were no answers when I moved it. Also, I was out walkies ;p
@JourneymanGeek And just to make clear: I didn't blame, I defended :)
just clarifying ;p
this is what I call a question - has to be one of the best yet
pitty I'm not a linux guy - I have used Ubuntu irregularly but that's it.
If it was for Windows I'd say Google's Picassa would match most of it with a few setting adjustments; I'm very impressed with it's face recognizing - heck it recognized a picture the other day that I scanned in that was of my mother 40 years ago
14:04
@JourneymanGeek Whatever :)
though sadly Picassa does lack ponies
As long as things get clear #D
@NickWilde I am, but I'm not so much involved in graphics. Especially not in face-recognition...
someone quickly, review MAH edit!
eh?
yay!
14:21
@JourneymanGeek Apache doesn't need PHP : o
@Fractaliste: you can't run any forum on apache alone ;p
these days I favour a lighttpd/php-fpm stack
I agree but PHP isn't the only way.
@Fractaliste: discourse? ;p
I tried it, it feels a little too heavy for a forum
But for beginners like the OP seems to be, you're right ; )
I don't know php-fpm, I've a project to build a web server on my RasperryPi, why not about testing it...
@Fractaliste: The system that runs tt-rss for me uses ~120mb of ram total
postgres though, mysql is a ram hog
Raspis are a pain for some things. I use an old mini itx atom box for home servers. My raspi is a nas.
14:30
@NickWilde But he used FLOSS >n>
@JourneymanGeek My project is just for private use, I hope it'd be enough. I'm still missing a screen display to install the OS, enable SSH and then I can start crash tests
@Fractaliste: I'm tempted to get these little screens that dx sells
50-80 USD, just a panel and a driver board that does HDMI
@DanteTheEgregore as I said most and that is a preferred not a must on his/her list
14:36
@Fractaliste: free worldwide shipping
but shipping times vary wildly
I've gotten stuff in 2-3 weeks or 3 months
@Braiam: This question does not appear to be about software recommendations, within the scope defined in the help center.
yeah, but we should figure out our custom close reasons at some point
I didn't know this website, it's quite interesting! And if I need a screen I think there is no cheaper. Thanks for the information
@JourneymanGeek Community is unhappy with you :P
14:38
@Undo: o0 why?
ah, much better.
Because you closed without leaving a comment :P
@Undo: I close, then write out a comment ;p
But then Community yells at you :P
Doesn't he yell anyway
14:39
Arg! made this into a CW! — Braiam 44 secs ago
^ Should we CW-ify the close reason thread?
Probably a good idea
@Braiam Pick the one from Meta, and insert it as custom close reason?
@Izzy /me no close votes
@Braiam close reason thread now CW ;)
I'm not even sure its necessary in this case ;p
@Fractaliste: that its a bare board bothers me a little (that and I can't decide which one to get ;p)
14:42
@Braiam Nevermind, that Q is already on hold now :)
@Fractaliste: DX is my preferred source of cheap crap-gadgets
@JourneymanGeek I see their Raspi, they're more expensive than official re-seller :/
@Fractaliste: yeah, though their bundle looks great.
and don't forget, that includes shipping
I got mine from official channels
though I probably would not get the official case and SD card the next time
its a lot more reliable to use a small SD card, berry boot, and put the install on a USB drive
The number of Raspi/Arduino/... card extensions is impressive...
I wonder if they really send all of them... It's not a very known hardawre isn't it?
15:04
I've generally not had too many issues with them
though its mostly cables, and I had one set of batteries delayed a few weeks
15:53
Does SR have a problem with user not accepting answers, or am I just imagining things?
16:06
@DanteTheEgregore SE in general doesn't care if the answer is accepted ;)
the system was made in such way that the community is the one that decides which is the best answer
True.
But how does the answered ratio on Area 51 work then?
Is that just based on questions with one or more answers on them?
16:45
upvoted answers afaik
think it's +2

@Gilles I'm surprised you'd be questioning what I said in my answer I'm hurt that you haven't figured out I'm pretty accurate (nah just pulling your leg)
