@William maybe a more indirect way of asking would be, "does learning a foreign language make you smarter?"
Though, my personal opinion is not really, it certainly open more doors (if you have an advanced understanding of chinese, as in near-native speaker level advanced). Otherwise, from a financial perspective, it is hard to quantify the learning of a foreign language for high schoolers. For college level, I feel the financial gain is still not enough to justify its benefits. But I will admit, it broadens my horizon and this is valued differently according each person.
