Sheesh, so many people taking Tuesday off
I should've done the same....
Oh well.
@ewwhite, @ward. @wesleydavid app.strava.com/activities/56041946
Obligatory OSX hate here
20:18
@Iain also @fpsdavid
jeez, way to make me feel left out
@JoelESalas Yes, ZFS can replicate
biker dorks!
@ewwhite Can I do it in that same wizard way you did it, by putting ext4 on top of a zvol?
@ewwhite those wheels are beautiful - much less road buzz and generally smoother all round
20:20
or does that break the process
what wheels did you get @Iain
Shimano 7850
@David some DA WH-7850-SL I go second hand
very cheap by Ed's standards
@Iain SL?
@David that's what the label says
20:25
@Iain I was about to buy these ENVE wheels, but just decided to have a pair built with the hubs I want.
@ewwhite I need buy-in! Can ZFS do that level of replication with an entire filesystem?
@JoelESalas yes
@ewwhite Will it do differentials
it can replicate filesystems or zVols
@Iain whats it mean? I know theres CL for clincher, TL for tubeless
20:26
whaaaaaaa
ZFS is too cool
@David and I have the tubular version
@David I dunno - they're Clinchers
then can also be tubeless
i'd never buy tubular
ever
@JoelESalas there's even a zfs diff.
@David I've ridden tubulars exclusively since I was 13.
Maybe it's my location, but I get 2 years out of each tire.
never flat.
@ewwhite dumbbbbbbb
20:28
don't carry spares or a kit
ya, but the day you do flat
you will hate your life
@David tubeless != tubular
@David Knowing him, he'll call a cab and go to the nearest bike shop, pick up where he left off on the ride
@Iain @ewwhite is riding tubular
i know what tubeless is lol
@David I know
people who ride tubs swear by them
20:30
Very strange to see news events that are less than 100 miles away listed as World News on news websites around the world.
i will ride tubular once i have a support car to follow me around
until then, no thx
@David when I started racing, I used to get used-tubular tires from a pro cycling team... and I'd make that shit last... sometimes even repairing them myself with a Velox sewing kit..
that was as 14 year-old...
but now I just buy good tires. They last... and I replace them once the tread wears out.
@JoelESalas but I don't use zfs replication, oddly
I've only had one puncture in several years of riding and that was a big chunk of glass. Using good tyres, changing them regularly and keeping them inflated to 110psi helps a lot
Now I'm going to have to buy tyres with red detail as the spokes have red nipples
i've never flatted on my clinchers
in 2-3 years
@ewwhite Same applies to motorcycles. Once the tread gets down to the wear bars, the odds of picking something up is much higher.
20:38
@Adrian how low are the wear bars ?
@Iain 1mm or so. But motorcycle tires run much lower pressure and have much higher flex and load.
@Iain Yeah, my nipples are red, too!
5
@ewwhite the rims on the shimano wheels are wider than my old wheels - I had to adjust the brake callipers to fit
@ewwhite Too obvious but I'll give it to you
i think im gonna buy 50mm deep, 25mm wide Chinese carbon wheels in June
20:40
No, really... red nipples.
$700 shipped for full-carbon
1430g
I only have one Chinese carbon wheelset... Used it for Cyclocross.
there's near-identical to Firecrest chinese wheels coming out
but i dont wanna wait
@ewwhite That's a very long down-tube you have there.
@Adrian Don't stereotype.
20:45
LOL
@ewwhite Or maybe the photo was just fore-shortened.
@Iain I'm glad you enjoy the wheels. They're bombproof.
@ewwhite I hope so the roads round here are really badly broken up at the moment
@Iain That'll be good. Are these the tubeless variant?
20:55
@ewwhite the wheels came with valves that can be used to convert them to tubeless with suitable tyres, they are currently running with tubes though
should be fun!
@ewwhite the front and rear tyres don't match though :(
And brakes...
I may put the pro race 3s I have on my old wheels with <200 miles on them on
@Iain I'd like to introduct you to the world of Veloflex
21:13
I am writing a guide to our Windows Server 08 R2
for my boss, who doesnt like Windows
(he's a Mac guy, therefore so is our office mostly)
@ewwhite I saw your tubs earlier - they don't seem so expensive it you get a couple of summers out of them ?
@Iain Well, no.. but it is an up-front cost
But I'm a wastrel.
3
Holy fuck AWS is shitty
@Iain I think this new bike will end up being $10k
@JoelESalas But sometimes much better/cheaper than buying your own huge infrastructure on short notice.
21:20
@JoelESalas Hates AWS. Hates OSX. I thought you were a devops guy? :P
2
@ewwhite which veloflex clincher/tubeless would you recommend ?
@Tanner haters gonna hate
@Iain How wide do you prefer them to be? 23mm 25mm?
@ewwhite I use 23's
@Tanner I like hybrid clouds, I don't think AWS replaces a datacenter
and this place is too fucking big for AWS to be the ONLY datacenter
@Iain Veloflex Corsa or Master... same tyre, different sidewall colouring.
@JoelESalas yeah, you guys should outsource to Logicworks
21:25
@ewwhite We have the peeps in house
so do a lot of our clients
@JoelESalas This will free you up to go do other start-up-ish type things, like beer-pong, foosball, laying in office hammocks and participating in your pets-allowed policy.
@ewwhite Oooh good idea, I'll bring my cat in to work
@ewwhite - serverfault.com/questions/510724/… - yeah, but I posted videos. :)
@TheCleaner no need... I could have posted a big step-by-step with caveats on multipath and round-robin policies... but I just needed 2 points to rep cap because of TomTom's earlier downvoting foolishness.
21:35
(must catch up to michaelhampton)
@ewwhite Come join our startup crew
@JoelESalas Sure.. but I'm useless and expensive
@ewwhite Lol'd, we need some permanent on-staff enterprisey experience
@JoelESalas I'm going the way of the dinosaur. @MDMarra may even eclipse my earning power someday.
Some day soon
21:37
@ewwhite NROOOOO
Microsoft, how dare you be relevant!
@MDMarra Granted, I made $180k when I worked for Produce Pro.
totally overpaid...
@ewwhite How do I do that, for Produce Pro
@JoelESalas I had a great package... because I sold my own time, sold hardware (commissions) and had a bonus structure that paid me back 50% of my hourly rate for every hour above my 120hr/month target.
I was billing 300+ hour months for awhile
@ewwhite Ahhh, got it
still, genius
well, no... they fired me partially because I was making more than the president of the company
21:40
Fuck that guy, what's he even do
which led to the consulting clients I have now.
So out of spite, they made me more money...
but yeah, my skills suck now. I need to leech off of @MDMarra
@MDMarra Can you show me a demo of the HPV stuff you've been working on?
@ewwhite It involves a lot of hot babes
@ewwhite HPV is a sexually transmitted disease. You may be thinking of someone else.
I feel like I just posted in Meta.
@MDMarra It's virtualization
21:45

A: Desktop virtualization and video streaming: can they coexist?

TheCleaner@Manuel, I'm not a moderator, but it's difficult to comment and answer your question you posed in the comment: Which part of the FAQs am I violating? I changed the question three times and asked three different problems: a very specific, a very general and a fairly specific one. Furtherm...

@ewwhite Virtualization is LIKE a sexually transmitted disease...
@ewwhite haha I know. What stuff did you want to see? My Hyper-V environment at work is tiny and just enough to run my system center stuff
@MDMarra heh heh heh show me your HPV
2
@MDMarra I need to know what it's about. I have a client who wants to migrate several hyper-v hosted VMs to the new ESX cluster I built.
@MDMarra Don't worry, it doesn't make you any less of a Windows guy
21:47
dang it @ewwhite - that bag licker accepted your answer over mine...and I posted first by 5 minutes. <goes home knowing I can't compete>
@ewwhite Just treat them to physical machines and P2V in that case.
@TheCleaner pix or GTFO!!
apparently
@MDMarra use VMware Converter?
yup
that's the best way
Converter might even have a V2V for Hyper-V option
21:50
There's your PIX @ewwhite - take it and GTFO :P
you can even borrow my rifle (you're using it for target practice right?)
@MDMarra Not MSHPV2EEVMWCC? (that's Microsoft Hyper-V-to-Extremely-Expensive VMware cluster converter)
negative!
@voretaq7 I still have like 50 Pix 501s and 506 units at work...
I have no clue how.
@ewwhite They don't break
and their suck quotient is JUST below the "Dear sweet Zombie Jesus rip this out!" threshold
@voretaq7 versus an ASA 5505...
but yeah, I left the Pix world 6-7 years ago
21:53
@ewwhite I never entered it
either it was big enough to use a FWSM or it was small enough to use pfSense
> Next week they are planning on adding additional load to one of the VMs and were wondering if perhaps VMware might have automatically tuned the host based on the load it had experienced so that when additional load is added, it would not perform that well.
@MDMarra I'll check converter to see if it would work
@MDMarra misinformed
@ewwhite It will 100% work with P2V
@MDMarra lol'd
One of your people, @JoelESalas

A: VMware automatic tuning

MDMarra Next week they are planning on adding additional load to one of the VMs and were wondering if perhaps VMware might have automatically tuned the host based on the load it had experienced so that when additional load is added, it would not perform that well. It didn't. Are there any steps ...

21:55
@MDMarra What do you mean, your people
Developers
Mexican developers
Every time I see someone eating a taco now, I picture it covered in ranch dressing and gag
So, thanks for that.

Why the fuck does this happen
I just ate $10.05 worth of Taco Bell...
21:57
thats cheap
That's a meal for 4
two Cheesy Gs and a Quesadilla can be like $12-13
That's a LOT of food.
@MDMarra You should clarify "It Didn't" more.
@ewwhite You can't call that "food"
21:58
My wife better Run for the Border
i fucking love TB
@voretaq7 better?
@ewwhite Bitch best be bringin' back some empenadas iffin' she knows what's good for her!
@David Oh, you know you have a problem if you order anything outside of a taco... Chalupas, Gorditas, Gutbusters...
@MDMarra yes.
21:59
@ewwhite cheeseburgers?
@MattBear well, I'm just scared of everything elseâ„¢ on the Taco Bell menu.
Doritos Loco tacos and all.
I don't eat taco bell
@ewwhite steak chalupas are the only thing I will eat from there
there's a qdoba and a chipotle within 5 minutes of me
and a baja fresh
@ewwhite the wine I just drank cost more than that
22:02
@MDMarra qdoba == good. Chipotle == good enough. Baja Fresh... my clients deliver produce to them.
I also prefer not to eat at baja fresh
I actually like chipotle better for burrito bowls, which is what I usually get
I prefer qdoba for burritos but I get those rarely
since a burrito from either place starts at like 900 calories
ooh, I have an answer eligible for reversal - doubt I'll get it though
@Iain LINK
@MDMarra Yeah, good... Remember what I was saying about the rodent-detecting lasers? Baja Fresh gets the produce that isn't passed through that detection scheme.
May 8 at 13:25, by ewwhite
And... the multiple wavelength laser sorters are ideal for targeting glass, rocks, metal, rodents, insects and other field debris
@MDMarra crass
22:05
Holy fuck I'm annoyed
Ahem. LINK!
LIIIIIINK
@JoelESalas yeah yeah osx hate :)
@Iain This time it's VPC
@JoelESalas wanna know how much I like Apple products?
I'm about to buy a time capsule tonight
22:06
@MDMarra whoaoaoaoaooa
@JoelESalas hater's gonna hate :)
@MDMarra clicky linky

Q: configuring two domains in same server

Karthick88itI am trying to configure two domains in same server, but i am getting with "the first has precedence, perhaps you need a NameVirtualHost directive" Below is my Apache2 config file <VirtualHost 88.80.223.163:80> ServerAdmin [email protected] DocumentRoot /var/www/lumiin ...

:P
@MDMarra You do know that iPhones are powered by kitten hearts, don't you?
@Adrian I voted up that answer w/out any rep-whoring...
It's not rep-whoring if its not the author posting the link.
22:15
@ewwhite ya
so slick
I know, but it's a convenient turn of phrase.
@Adrian yeah - that's the one and unfortunately it's a perfect example of what's wrong - which bit of the error message did the OP not understand ? (apparently all of it :( )
ok, going to get tacos
bye guys
Doritos Loco!
22:23
Holy shit I broke the living fuck out of VPC
hahahahaha
23:00
anyone ever use BackupPc ?
@JoelESalas im testing different backup options for Ubuntu
@MattBear Bacula, end of story
@JoelESalas that ones actually next on my list
backuppc looked interesting because of its web interface
@MattBear Who's going to be using the interface?
23:03
@JoelESalas me primarily
but there are others who might need to if I'm not here
@MattBear Bacula has a really nice declarative configuration format, I don't put much faith in configs I can't script
Mmm. Love my some big juicy meaty Five Guys.
4
I had no idea that there was a Five Guys not 4 miles from the house. I'm going to have to forget that it's there if I'm going to lose any weight.
@JoelESalas I'll play with Bacula next then
@MattBear Check out webacula if you want a manager-friendly interface. Remember that you can't add jobs, change filesets or add hosts from it.
All changes happen in the config, but you can kick off jobs if you want from that interface
@JoelESalas ok, thanks,
23:10
@MattBear I use Idera Hot Copy and Cactus Lone-Tar to tape!
@ewwhite Not devops enough!
@JoelESalas I automated it with cron!
23:33
"They are looking for a Junior or Mid-level Windows Systems Adminstrator. They are working with Windows 2003 and 2008, MS SQL Server, IIS, and VMWare. The position can pay 45-55K depending on experience."
dohohohoo
@JoelESalas Bit low for LA, isn't it?
23:50
lol mid level for $45K-$55k?
