I was switching the disk drives in my server, running RAID 6 on 5 disks on a 3ware 9650SE controller, for newer disks and have run into a problem.
The two first disks went fine, I took out one disk and inserted a new one, let the array rebuild and repeated for disk 2.
When booting after switching...
Tried Amazon FBA for the first time, had some adapters that we wanted to get rid of and couldn't return... Shipped them in to Amazon, then they ship to customers when sold. Well sent 5 in; Amazon hasn't "received" 1 of them yet, it's been 2 weeks. A customer purchased another, then returned it damaged. Now I get to pay for Amazon to ship the destroyed item back to me to see if it's salvageable. WTF??
@MikeyB I certainly wont be using FBA ever again... Also, a customer somehow used a "Rebate" that I didn't offer, so they got $8.50 off the adapter..... WTFH.
as soon as you go above a 10 there's like a $5-10 price increase - unless you're talking designer shoes which are so exorbitantly overpriced that they can eat the loss :P
it was great for the first year, then Amazon realized "Hey, we can make money on this product line!" - they bought from the same suppliers and sold for like $5 less. Dirty Pool!

I'm mad that Amazon let a customer barrow something, make it unsalable, and I'm stuck paying shipping both ways on it; and it's apparently "unsalable" now.
@ChrisS My problem with it is Amazon was a contractor and they deliberately stabbed the guys that built the business in the back. (Then again it's their own fault for trusting Amazon)
What are the minimun recommendable requirements for a web server, that run into a medium size LAN, and run about 20 web applications, whit about 15 users each one?
@MDMarra No. I stopped about a year ago. I was spending less and less time online, and also disagreed with the direction the mods where going with the site.
I only played with Win8 on the convertible for a few days, the big problem is that some things only work well with onscreen gestures, some only work well with mouse (or trackpad) gestures. So it adds another input mechanism to mouse+keyboard
I had a big blowout with Molly when (s)he was the highest rep user on the site right before they deleted their account. It was really the last time I was active there
I was on the front rep page for a bit. I'd imagine I've been bumped off by now though
@MDMarra SU is extremely hard since it has a broad focus and is pretty much anything goes. SF has always been strict, SU the opposite. The original MODs tried to shape it like SF, but with no success

@MDMarra Just because I figure you might be the guy who'd have this... are you aware of any official MS documentation saying that GPPs are supported on a 2003-level domain? I'm being told I can't use them to fix our problems because they're not supported on a 2003 FL domain, which I'm pretty sure is BS.

A 2003 server doesn't know what to do with an admx
So you'll need to manage the policy from something newer than 2003, but the DCs themselves will happily hold copies of the policy with these newer settings that they don't actually understand
I know it doesn't help you, but a simple "it will work, let's set it up in a test lab if you don't believe me. If you disagree, you need to bring the documentation" should table that argument
@MDMarra Yeah, I'm gonna look for a technet/msdn "setting up GPP on a 2003 domain/server." Closest thing I can think of that will actually exist, and be proof of "supported."
The whole having a discussion or argument thing is pretty... st00pid. "We can't fix it that way, it might not work or be supported." So, it's broken now, and we can't fix it because it might not work? Where's my fucking gun?
@HopelessN00b There's nothing different in AD between GPP and GPO... well, at least not in the way they're stored and retrieved, which is what you're talking about. The client has to be able to process GPP however, which as other have noted requires the Policy Extension Update or whatever it's called. You should be able to run GPP on a 2000 FL Domain though.
It was an extension invented by some company that MS bought.. GPO just sticks new entries in the registry, and it's up to the various programs to read them and do whatever.
GPP has an "active" client that can change configurations and do "stuff".
It's not so much ancient as it is different.
Before Vista/2008 you had to install the GPP Client, it was pushed out through WU
In Vista/2008 and newer the GPP Client is built into Windows.
The Client Update was buggy as heck though. It was a half-baked product when MS bought them.
I know some people have had really good luck with GPP in XP, but I rarely did... I still avoid GPP unless it's got some functionality that would be a real bear to implement otherwise.

The reality of "innocent until proven guilty" when the government comes for you is nothing like what any reasonable person would interpret the phrase to mean.

@David It's happened plenty - take a look at the complaints against the DMCA. They've filed takedowns against printers and non-existent IPs.
Even dragged some grandmother who didn't have an internet connection into court over filesharing. The law is very one-sided. Once accused, you're basically in a position where you have to prove innocence.
