anyway, there is a fix that would make Windows a first-rate NTP implementation, but Microsoft hasn't added it to the default serial port implementation. (PPS support)

you can compile your own serial.sys, but you can't use it on modern systems due to code signing

@FalconMomot As a general rule I think you should talk about what you expect from one another, and in the process you can make clear your own lack of interest. E.g. if you talk about bringing people home and what rules apply for sleepovers if any, that's a good place to bring it up without making it a Huge Issue

I wonder if captain awkward has anything to say about this dilemma... there is this coworker of mine who is slightly older, but otherwise extremely similar to me... so similar in fact that he has already done a bunch of stuff I plan to do, and I think I'm pissing him off by "copying".

Well. If they have a problem, they can do either of three things. They can talk to you directly in which case you answer that it's actually things you'd already planned and that you were glad to see that the same thing worked for Sirus.
Or they can just shut up and be adult about it.
Or they can be passive-agressive jerks, in which case you ignore them and then you get to be the adult in the group.

If "interested friends" talk to you about it, then the answer is the same - "sorry they feel that way; in fact those are things I'd already been thinking of and obviously I can't go around and not live my life the way I want because Sirus has also had the same thought earlier"

Plus, he's a coworker, not a friend. You haven't chosen specifically to be around him. You have just ended up at the same work place. The fact that they've employed two people with similar interests and ideas of how to live just means they're good at selecting for a cultural fit.
