I am with hiim though, thick, smoky non-crisp bacon is what I'm all about. Ideally positioned on top of some fancy sausages and snuggled up next to an egg!
@ChrisS We dont' have them I don't think, but it does taste good. Mind you, I think sausages are different over there anyway - I've had something of a variety of foodstuffs when ordering something with "sausage" in the US, and none were really quite what I expected
mmmm, egg bagel sandwich with bacon and a thin sausage patty..... optional: swap out the bacon for lightly brazed Canadian bacon and a drizzle of honey
@tombull89 See, you'd think working away would lest me taste the finest in great breakfasts but I'm so cautious about going down that "road" that all I ever have is poached eggs on toast
@Dan Probably the best sausage I've ever had was in a little town outside of Edinburgh that was made by a local butcher. I could actually see identifiably green herbs. Yes!
Mind you, I did give in at a posh-ish restaurant the other month. I was knackered, work was hard - the lovely waitress came round and asked if I could stretch to desert. I just blurted out "Ooh, could you just get us a brew love?"
@ChrisS I wash mine at least once a day. At home a cup is only used once before washing. I'll stretch it out on site though
@Dan I have no idea if that's rude or otherwise... And I'm pretty sure you could get away with saying that at any restaurant here without anyone batting an eye except for the accent.
@ChrisS It's not rude by any stretch - just perhaps over-casual for a more formal restaurant. I'm sure some waitstaff could take offence at being called love
@Dan parents went to the broadway hotel in the cotswold a few weeks back for dad's birthday. They went before and really liked it but they were dissapointed this time - it had all been updated and all the food was very nice but there was bugger all of it
Mind you, hotel restaurants are certainly different at times - in the nicer ones (Not posher, just nicer) - they seem a lot better at "gauging" the lone traveller. I did have one bad experience where a girl essentially stalked me for my time there, but other than that I've had some nice chats with the staff
@chriss depends how its said I guess, it would be rude to snap that at someone but I could hear the way @dan probably said and I'd imagine @tombull89 could too -- just sort of sighed / drawled out...
I don't give a damn if I paid £20 for a steak, I want a bit more than a cube of meant and some "thriced diced hand-cut chips". No you gits give me chips
@tombull89 It's gutting when something changes for the worse. Place I'm staying at now used to do great breakfasts (Served to order, had salmon, kippers and all sorts on the menu). Now it's just a crappy buffet
@tombull89 I'll give the US it's due on this one - if you want steak, go to America. Those boys know how to do it
Glasgow - where the nightclub bouncers search you for a weapon on the way into a club
And if you don't have one they lend you one for the night.
We have a few suppliers who have offices in scotland and as I'm half scottish, my boss gave all those 'accounts' to me to deal with because I would understand them.

What is the proper definition of a "dessert"? I'm having a heated discussion about whether "KitKat" and "Jelly Bean" are in conflict with the Android naming convention
@MDMarra I do drink water, constantly. I also drink lots of other stuff that's less effective at hydrating you (tea, coffee, booze) and occasionally do lots of physical labor
