@TheCleaner It was because "it didn't flow right"...idk. I haven't read it myself. Still though...I don't even see how it's possible to cheat on something that has no right or wrong answer.

@NathanC I'd definitely contest a zero. I'd ask to rewrite it and hope to get at least a "C". That's crap to simply give a zero with no real proof of cheating.
@TheCleaner Meh, she says she's still getting a good grade in the class. A reflection paper is done weekly so the weight is really low. But now the professor's on her ass about all of her coursework.

Actually we probably do have some CDs around here... If people want their tax return in PDF on a CD it's apparently an option still. We charge $29 for it.
I've repeatedly warned people that CDs only last ~10 years. Pulled out some ancient CDs and DVDs I burnt back in the day a month ago - took 9 CDs before I found one that worked anymore.
@ewwhite Another way: in larger hotels that have a lost and found, go to the reception desk and say that you lost your charger. Chances are they'll have one.
I usually have my laptop with me everywhere so I always have a charging source. To save battery I leave the laptop in sleep mode...the USB ports are still powered so the charger works.
@NathanC Many newer laptops have a "charging port" that's powered when the laptop is off, but has a powerbrick connected. Usually has a lightening bolt or plus sign next to the usb logo.
@ChrisS supposedly none...but I don't know for certain. We got it strictly because we had a few tablets that needed charging and didn't like messing with the adapters.
@TheCleaner I'm sure it loses some, I've only seen one model where there's a switch in the USB port to disconnect main power when nothing is plugged in. You'd be surprised how much power those wall-warts "lose" with nothing plugged in.
@jscott - sure I guess. So far I don't notice anything crazy better, but I like the start button being back and the "search everywhere" feature is nice. But I've only been running it for about 10 minutes so far.
Mine came with 8, and has been very stable. My biggest piss point isn't with 8, but with Lenovo and their USB 3 dock...the thing is BS. It should have built in charging for the laptop (among many other design flaws)

I'm not crazy about Win8.1 - I got a "start" button, whoopie. But some of the Start Screen search functional regressed.

@NathanC I'd be using Windows if every time I went near it wasn't an exercise in pain, frustration, and wonderful examples of the operating system getting in the user's way.
@ChrisS exactly. But he's safe for a few iterations. But I think one of the comments may be right (no ver. 16). I think it's more likely though that you'd see "hybrid only" versions before you'll see them completely remove on-prem choices.
If you don't want chewy pizza (a) use a goddamn toaster oven like a normal person, or (b) invest in a convection microwave (which will still not be as good as a toaster oven)

@ewwhite shrug... My complaints with Ubuntu were all desktop related. Seems like it could be ok for server stuff. Not as reliable as RHEL, but throw enough HA clustering stuff at and good dev->test->stage->prod process and you'll hide the problems... Chef seems fine... AWS seems ok for a cloud butt thing.
@ewwhite Note that I'm saying you can fix it with good testing, but personally I like having the basic toolset well tested and stable so I don't have to worry about it.
@voretaq7 It's what they like to talk about. Do they really do it? I dunno. I've interviewed at places that talked that kind of talk, but it was clearly more of a goal than a reality.
@voretaq7 Well, and a really thorough dev->test->stage->prod thing is to have stage and prod be full on clones, do a freeze, data clone from prod to stage, software update on stage and swap stage with prod.
Developers write code. It gets deployed to the dev environment with data cloned from production (usually whatever I did a restore test on last) and put through integration ("hit it until it works"). When it works it gets deployed to QA and run against known test data (for regression testing and verification), then it can be pushed to prod.
@voretaq7 Because they'd need to make the tank taller for the guy not to have to crouch to have the camera nicely visible while in a plausible "I'm taking a photo" pose. It's cheaper to pay him $1 more an hour for headstands than to buy a bigger tank. And it better matches the other marketing material with the underwater headstand, which draws your eye precisely because the guy is upside down.
(you're not supposed to "care about the guy", you're supposed to have your attention drawn by the guy so that you are interested enough to find out more)
