@Cole My friend who died had been on bad terms with two other mutual friends. I was the one who told them they would need to talk to her soon if they wanted to do it at all, which they did. They are still grateful to me for giving them that chance.
When I was in my first year of secondary school we had someone leave at the middle of the school year. We found out years later he'd been killed in a hit-and-run which for a load of 16-17 year old freaked us out a lot
When I was in grade school there was a girl in class that stopped coming. When asked they told us she was suffocated to death by her <insert family member>. I swear, like 7 years later I saw that very girl in my high school. Couldn't mistake her face. She was only at school for about a week and never saw her again. Very eerie.
@Cole We locked eyes when I first saw her and she looked away and exited. I had that, "I know that person" astonishment but couldn't quite place the face at that very moment
When I was young (Probably 13 / 14, if that) I had a 'girlfriend' that I met at the swimming baths. We went out a few times and it was going great. Then one day she phoned me up and said her dad told her that she couldn't see me anymore :(
@Dan I had something similar, a week-long trip to the isle of wight in 2000 led me to meeting a girl on a beach and for the best part of 11 years we wrote back and forth.
@tombull89 At the risk of sounding like your parents or something - relationships take practice, it's normal to see a lot of them break in your early 20s because people at that age are still learning how to do it
@Cole My sister got married at 23, to a man she'd been dating for 3-4 years. They got divorced three years back. During that time he'd gone from "likes taking a glass of wine with dinner" to "is mostly always drunk and will use violence against his wife".
@Cole as far as I know the ex-BIL is still drinking. My husband remarked that in the 13 years we've been together, he never saw my BIL sober. Not once.
@ewwhite It's Windows... It still comes with all the standard Windows tools/methods, but people are apparently less familiar with those than they should be.
@ewwhite Hyper-V seems to have nothing to assist further troubleshooting. I am somewhat at a loss - not because I could not find out what the cause is in this case, but because I would like a generic solution where I could set up some monitoring rules.
If all else fails, reboot. If that doesn't work, reboot again. If that doesn't work, a well-placed smack with a hammer might. It may not fix the problem, but it'll release some stress.
I had a machine with a virus on it about 3:30 last friday ...I leave at 4.
Luckily our somewhat-working kaspersky deployment caught it, so all I needed to do was verify it wasn't still infected and run a manual scan. Dodged a you're-gonna-stay-late bullet there.
@NathanC I bought an antivirus (ClamAV) to go with our Deep Freeze deployment. It has failed to catch 2 different viruses so far. I called the OEM about it and they were like...ok. They told me there are steps to clean the virus. I was like..yeah...I know...but how about some definition updates?
@Cole Don't expect much out of them... keep looking. If they call and go through with it, take the interview... but factor that unprofessionalism into any decision.
@ewwhite It is slightly, as Microsoft Managers got to name all the Counters. And there's a giant list of about 400 categories, with counters under those, and instances under those.... It's not terrible, but it ain't straight forward either
I have never done this (probably because it sounds like a bad idea and I haven't had the issue as frequently as you are), but you could try replacing a RAID battery on a test server while it is on. The battery elements used in P800 BBWC module are 1.2V 500mAh NiMH x4 - I have replaced many of those with regular AA NiMH batteries (of higher capacity) using a battery holder like this

@ewwhite, Storage vMotion doesn't place the same type of stress on the array as a raid reconstruction. It's much less of an impact. Storage vMotion will simple read from the affected array and write to the unaffected array, while a reconstruction of a RAID6 volume involves a lot of distributed writes and parity calculations.
