Evolutionists were the ones who pushed the millions of years idea. They said the rock strata was formed over millions of years, which is just not possible. The fossils that are contained show it is not. There are fossils of plants that appear standing up, same with animals and dinosaurs.
The idea of millions of years is accepted equally by Christians and atheists who study geology, because that's what the geological record shows.
"Polystrate" fossils would only support a young earth if all fossils were buried in the same way. The reality is, geologists do see many examples of localized floods--which are capable burying a tree standing up--but those are the exception rather than the rule. In most places, geologic strata were formed by sedimentation over long periods of time.
@AChildofGod There is no geological evidence to support the occurrence of a worldwide flood at the time literalistic interpreters of the Bible think it should have happened, and mountains of geological evidence to refute it. (Bad pun intended!)
