@WELZ knowing shortcuts is easily one of the most useful lifehacks out there. How many people, even in IT, that look at me like I'm some kind of wizard because I alt-tab through my windows is just saddening. That said, don't try to navigate web pages without a mouse, it is literal hell.
@Wrzlprmft For basic navigation sure. But you can't fix a badly designed form where the order of inputs is all wrong, there's focusable elements between inputs that shouldn't be there, the dropdowns are custom made pieces of unusable crap, etc.
Just go to the jQuery UI demo page: jqueryui.com/datepicker and try to pick a date using just the keyboard without crying
@Wrzlprmft just an example. One of the main cell companies in Belgium for example uses custom made dropdowns. You can't type an option if you don't know the options. And you can only click those open. It's horrible. You can try not using their client web portal, but then you'll have to wait in line for hours at one of their shops or on the support line (who won't help you with things you can do via their portal anyway).
@PieBie I have the same situation as you... I'll do something really quickly on the keyboard and they just look at me baffled and say: "what did you just do?"
I try to have a good balance of keyboard and mouse.
Every time I discover a new useful shortcut in Illustrator it's so much fun to not need to use the mouse for that anymore...
At work I use my laptop with a docking station. The only pointing device I have there is my laptop’s touchpad. I only use mouses for graphic design – which is mostly a hobby for me.
What I forgot to mention is that my laptop is on my left and I am right-handed. So, I can use the touch pad, if I really really need a pointing device, but I discourage myself from it.
@WELZ Nope, Neo 2 (which is optimised for the German language and has some extra perks going beyond the Dvorak idea, like an layers for programming punctuation, control keys, and mathematical symbols)
