hi
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/96798895/Untitled-2.pdf

I made this pdf in indesign, I don't know if it's an issue or not but when I zoom in to the file, say to any text or the logo, it stutters and then appears clearly
why is this happening?
06:44
@joojaa Took a look at the question. Lhf’s answer sounds exactly what my intuitive approach to the problem was after reading the question.
06:57
@Wrzlprmft, Hi
could you please help me out?
Perhaps

4 hours later…

quick indes q...
if i want to align some text left and some right, on the same line, i would align right and insert a tab in between.
indes then pushes both bits of text to the edges of the text box correctly.
however... if there isn't room for a tab then it breaks onto a new line.
there's still enough space and i can do it manually... i just wondered if i'm missing a trick.
12:04
@marcusdoesstuff perhaps
12:36
@marcusdoesstuff why can't you adjust the tab?
I mean if there's not enough space for some sort of tab then how will you see the different in the text anyways? It would just look like one continuing line if there's no space between it anyways
13:18
a couple spaces does the job... i wondered if there was a white space character or something.
i rarely find myself using tabs for indents etc so adjusting the tab width is a decent idea.
it doesn't look like one line of text if it's a symbol or a number in a different font or size so that's fine.
in this case i have symbols in the corner of cells in a table.
off top of my head Ctrl+Alt+T I believe is the shortcut to adjust the tab
and yes there are all sorts of white space character if you go to... uh... Insert Character Spaces or something like that
if you can't find it let me know and I'll open InDesign to get the exact menu spot for you
i essentially want one that pushes text out on both sides to the margins.
ctrl+shift+t brings up the tab window... a confusing window but i seem to have made it work.
i didn't see a white space character for this... though i thought this was flush space
13:53
morning all
@JanBenes hi, haven't seen you in here before. Greetings
hello
hey John, you gonna participate in the exercise?
I'm gonna try
hopefully its a decent time for a good turnout. Hard getting one time that works across Australia, America, and Europe
at least we don't have anyone I know of in Asia or we'd really be in trouble
hi @go-me welcome to the chat. Hope you came in for the design exercise
14:14
@Ryan Hi, thanks. Just here to take a look, probably not going to stick around. Was curious about the competition
sounds good. Its only first day so not sure how many will come out. Hopefully it grows to at least a few regulars each week
@JanBenes just curious how'd you hear about it? Graphic Design Exchange? I also mentioned it in Photography and UX. Not sure if it showed up anywhere else though. First time we've tried doing an actual Community Event
@Ryan I clicked on the link by accident, obviously :/ If there's a way I can use Mr T picture, I might participate
@Ryan Saw it in the bottom right corner of the website ("suggested post"?), think it had the GD graphic next to it
@go-me well @Darth_Vader plans to try and incorporate cat gifs so pretty sure if you want to find a way to incorporate Mr T into your design you can come up with something lol
14:30
heehee well, the "the" will be fix at the next proof.. you know how it is.

hahaha ha. Ok I'll take a break. I'll find some Chris Hansen images for the next batch
on the hour
14:53
lol!
I think this question is spam

Q: How to cdr repair corrupted image?

EthanSheltonPlease help! I need to restore the file till Wednesday! My work depends on it. I'm using CorelDraw X3. Through it I can't correctly open my file, I see unknown image instead my graphic.

mornin @AndrewH how's the job?
I migrated it already
maybe, there are exact word matches
on google from past years
(though they'll probably either downvote or close it)
I guess he can already look for another job :/
14:55
yeah we had a bunch of questions similar to those, fake questions so people could advertise their service
Tell him if he sees a big black dude with a mohawk, it's totally normal
oh ya I see, exact same wording all over other exchanges and reddit and stuff
ah well, its superusers to deal with now
@ryan the job is great! I really like my new work. However I get work last minute a lot of the times (like today). Where I have to print for a show that is shipping out tomorrow...
hah sounds about right. Last year we got a column wrap at a show and I had to resort to contacting the printer directly because what the show organizer told me made zero sense. As a result our column wrap was the only one that was actually on a column
and yes it was last minute because of it
Our sales people are like "yea we don't need anything to print" then the show manager comes to me saying that we have to reprint everything cause the graphics got damaged...
14:58
@AndrewH yep thats definitely a spammer, posted same exact thing on 3 exchanges. Destroyed!
Thats a weird thing to spam... It doesn't even include a link.
Maybe it's not spam, maybe it's a poor desperate guy who will learn next year to not count on SE for last minute answer
nah its some kind of spam - google.com/…
can find the exact wording from years ago
Uh time to start. Did anyone get any notification in the news feed thing? Saw it 30 minutes ago but thought it would show again now
@MattRockwell greetings
hahaha well that's funny
@AndrewH they wait a while then post an answer to their pay service. See this example
@Ryan I don't think you get pinged if you have the room open
15:03
@BESW @marcusdoesstuff @GiantCowFilms @JohanLarsson any of you participating?
Everyone ready that is?
welcome @Earthliŋ
hi @Earthliŋ come for the design exercise?
@Ryan In what?
@JohnB Thank you! First time here...
15:05
If no one participate I'll come spam you every day. With the same image. And this color #00fff6

Q: Thursday Weekly Design Challenge

RyanOn Thursdays at 15 UTC we're going to be hosting a weekly design challenge. Come in to Ink Spot A random topic will be provided for people to design on. I'll host and pick topics the first few weeks but then open it up to anyone else who wants to throw out a topic. It could be a logo, a new way...

@Ryan Eh... What's going on?
you came just in time for our first ever weekly design challenge. Just trying to find out if everyone that wants to participate is here and ready before starting
Not this time but I will mark it off
15:06
hey Matt
Alright so since this is first time a little more about how it works. This will I'll give a topic. You can pretty much do any design you want on that topic. Illustration, vector, pencil on paper, composition. Whatever it inspires you to do.
Time limit is roughly 20 minutes, I'll keep time. Can finish sooner, can run a little late, just helps keep everyone on track
So to start things out and keep it pretty open this weeks topic is going to be the letter "G"
So the topic is no topic, or you're not done?
Not feeling well today, so I might just sit back and watch. Happy G'ing =)
timer is on
15:11
calendars... sunday or monday week start?
about halfway on time
does it get posted here when the time is up?
if you'd like to share it then yes
20 minutes is up if you want to stick to that time limit
nice Matt and John
you as well, very recursive looking
@MattRockwell admittedly "Gangsta" is where my mind went to first when I thought of G, haha
i have had this idea in my head for years ever since I saw the Microsoft Word one with dr dre
i expected at least one person to take that route. That or money
15:33
it was about to make it real
@Darth_Vader came late but better be doing a cat gif inspired by "G". I'll be sad otherwise
hah!
nice, @go-me
@Darth_Vader ah thats no good, have fun with that
15:35
and nice work from those that submitted
I had to amputate some guy to get the missing arm. He will survive, don't worry.
well glad a few people came to participate. same time next week with a new topic for those that enjoyed it
thanks for organizing it
ya that was fun
15:39
- 'g' from good, as typed by Ryan. 16.35, 20th Aug 2015.
weird @marcusdoesstuff kind of looks like it was embroidered on fabric and then photographed
i like it
ya thats cool @marcusdoesstuff
given the game away that i started late though :P
@marcusdoesstuff I'm reminded of this post graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/a/42336/8708 :)
did you use a macro lens or anything special?
15:46
heh nope
phone camera > g drive > photoshop enlarge/unsharp :P
@Ryan is it part of your plan to post a roundup of each week's submissions as an answer to that meta post?
uh no i hadn't planned to
suppose we could
16:23
@JohnB done

A: Thursday Weekly Design Challenge

Ryan20 August 2015 Topic provided was "G" Matt Rockwell: JohnB: go-me: marcusdoesstuff: And my own submission:

awesome
hey @AndrewS
17:09
@JohnB think you mispinged, Andrew Schultz or AndrewH
18:01
I was hoping it would ping Andrew Shultz, you only need the first three letters (@Rya), but if I had done just @Andrew it would have pinged both
I need to start saving my work more regularly. PS just crashed on me out of the blue and some really nice progress work :(
Im about to pass @Vincent thanks to not giving out bounties and him giving out one recently
